Dish Network drops BTN. M game not on Dish today.

Submitted by wolverine2003 on

Woke up to no signal from BTN on Dish Network.  Checked Btn.com and it says "Despite BTN's best efforts to finalize an agreement with DISH, we are disappointed to tell you that DISH decided to drop BTN. DISH customers will miss all 8 BTN matchups today. Find another BTN provider at IWantBTN.com."

If you have DISH...look elsewhere today.  I am heading to Buffalo Wild Wings.

Tell DirecTV that I referred you and we both get $10 off per month for the rest of our contract, I believe.  Also, it only works with me.  So if you have any poor family members who are being hammered by a high DirecTV bill, don't even tell them you are interested in switching.  Just come straight to me.

It depends on what you want. Dish appears cheaper by offering more channels for the price... Another way to look at is they make you pay for a lot of shit/filler. I switched a couple weeks ago and was able to get everything I wanted cheaper with Direct (MUCH cheaper for the first year and still cheaper after).

Quantity = Dish
Quality = Diretv

For me at least. Have you compared packages side by side?

Yeah, I've had Dish for about the last ten years. I'm now paying less with Direct (and will continue to do so). Not missing a thing I care about with my now lower tier Direct package.

Except for maybe G4... But I haven't been watching it as much lately anyway. Since Olivia left and now Kevin (mostly Olivia).

Edit- Just got the joke. Upvote incoming.

Actually called this morning to switch and am paying 45.99 for the 1st 12 months and 69.99 for the next. This is 30 less  than what I was paying for Dish over the first 12 and will come out to a few dollars less for the last 12. Get all the sports channels I had with Dish, plus Sunday ticket free this year.

If it were directv, I'd say btn won't be gone long, but I havent seen Dish handle one of these.

Well, Beckmann & Brandstatter do a nice broadcast. Enjoy.

the BTN doesn't even realize that sports other than football and basketball get played in the Big 10.  I would venture to say that 80-90% of their programming is nothing but football and basketball.  I understand that these are the "money making" sports, but they consistantly and constantly forgo airing other sports live to bring us supposedly "classic" football and basketball match ups.  It's quite irritating.

I just signed a 2 year contract with them this summer! I called and they gave me the sports package free for 3 months to see if they get it back. I'll still have NFL network at least. This just ruined my day!

Ugh, this just makes a crappy morning a shitty day!  No M for me and the husband is gonna be thrilled to come home to no badgers.  At least I have my inlaws login info for BTNtogo.  I guess I should see if we are still under contract and look at Directv. :(

but I voiced my thoughts with Dish, since I'm paying them for my service every month.

I can cancel my 2 year contract with Dish for less than it will cost me to go to Applebees or BWW to follow Michigan football or basketball games this year.

I'm not even sure how DISH has lasted this long. I've had both Directv and DISH, and Dtv is clearly the superior service. Factor in the relationship of Dtv and the NFL, and it would seem that DISH's days are numbered.

What really makes me angry about this is that I looked into this three weeks ago and would have switched providers already had DISH & BTN not announced that they had reached an agreement in principle and expected to finalize the terms. They gave the impression that it was basically a done-deal. Now I'm stuck with DISH on gameday.

Same for me. I sold my tickets this week so I could stay home with my daughter after two weeks of being away on Saturday (we went to Dallas).  And now I will have to go out to a crowded restaurant and spend money to watch this game.

I thought it was done/over too and was glad to see Pac-12 Network was added last week...then this happens.

I just made the switch to DirecTV.  I'm not taking another chance that this doesn't get fixed, especially since Michigan v Purdue on Oct 6 is a BTN game.

Also, I called DISH last night (around 11:30 pm Pacific) and asked them if they are still in negotiations with BTN and whether there was any chance of a last-minute deal or another interim agreement.  The guy from DISH said that yes, negotiations are continuing.  It's probably bullshit, but that's what he said FWIW.  Notably, I did ask him this before inquiring as to whether I would owe a cancellation fee if I need to drop DISH.

If only I could stream BTN on Netflix...

Why does anyone still subscribe to Dish Network?  Seriously, why?  DirecTV is sooooo far ahead in terms of content, service, etc. etc. etc.  Dish subscribers shouldn't be at all surprised when something like this happens.

I know you mean well, but here's the deal.

This is America.  The land of the free and the home of the brave.  The land of great opportunity.  The place where everyone has a chance at success.  Many generations of my family have enjoyed success and freedom in this wonderful country.  Although I detect a slight bit of sarcasm in your post, part of me is saddened by the part that isn't so sarcastic.  No, I'm not moving because in America people have options.  That is what makes America so great.  My ancestors taught me that there are some things worth fighting for.  So I will carry on through this tragedy as those before me would have so bravely done.

I'm going to pick up the phone, yell at someone making slightly above minimum wage, tell them I have a terminal disease, that Michigan football helps to ease the pain, and demand free shit.

I don't have a view of the southern sky or whatever you need to have, and my building has some special arrangement with a cable co that runs Dish Network through the cable jacks in all our buildings.  So technically I don't pay Dish, but I have a Dish box, and get all their channels.

Ask for the customer loyalty division.  Complain.

I got $10 off my bill for a year, and the "all sports" package free for 6 months.  It sucks, but when you're locked into a 2 year contract there's not much you can do.  Make the best of it and get free shit

better stuff than I did.  You must be a better negotiator!  I was given 6 free pay per view rentals and a month free of my movie channels.  Still pissed though....

She did say with the mass amount of complaints they have received today she thought it wouldn't take long.
