Dirty, Dirty lies thread

Submitted by Blazefire on

It occurs to me that we're getting gypped here. Why should former players and published sportswriters be the only ones that get to participate in dirty, dirty lies? It's not fair. We're qualified to lie too.

Did you guys hear that Rich Rod called Conelius Jones last night and told him he needed to be working out hard? I guess Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson got in a fight over the last twinkie, leaving both in the hospital with enough blood loss to be Hypovolemic. Jack Kennedy tried to intervene and lost an arm (non-throwing, fortunately), and Rodriguez was reported to say that he, "Never really had any faith in that Gardner kid in the first place."

I heard that the University of Michigan filed to become a private school and will have a satellite campus on the moon.

I also heard that Portuguese is now a major, and we're recruiting 3rd tier Brazilian soccer players to come play (soccer and some football) at Michigan for NCAA domination.

put RichRod in a headlock and gave him a noogie, screaming "My seat is NOT hotter than yours!"

In other news, Big Ten commish Jim Delany has Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick on speed dial, calling several times a day, asking Swarbrick to pull his finger.

Did you hear that Mark Dantonio and Jim Tressel are doing a two-man version of "The Vagina Monologues" opening in Cleveland on May 25th.

In unrelated news, Terrelle Pryor wore a diaper as an 18 year old.

"Okay, just ONE drink, but then I'm leaving. I can't  get drunk tonight."

That one is typically followed by "no, officer, I only had one drink"

They dominate recruiting in the state. They can recruit nationally.  And they are ready to compete for a big ten championship. After going 6-7 and not really improving in any facet of the game , it's their time. Not to mention they have the best coach in the Big Ten. Hey you can grow alot as football players from running into dorms and beating people up. That works speed and power.

I herd that Michigans Corch Rodriguez will step down and Les Milez will step in as the new corch. I also heard that manbearpig has mated with Al Gore and they are having robot babbys. and I know for a fact that the Big Ten has offered invitations to Miami(YTM), Richmond, the Cleveland Cavilers, and The University of Phoenix.

make football a club sport at Michigan.  An anonymous source close to people who set out the luncheon at the Regents' meeting was quoted as saying that a male regent said  ". . . fans seem too impatent for football dominance . . ."  and another regent identified as either male or female said ". . . the only way to quickly return to dominance is to play grossly inferior programs . . ."

I'm really not the politically-correct type, but I know a lot of people find the word "gypped" offensive.  Gypsies are actual people.  I'd go with "ripped off" instead.

Not to go all PC Police on you, but "gyp" actually is different.  Niggardly is a completely separate word from the N word while tar-baby's meaning is disputed.  Gyp, however, is in fact derived from "gypsy" based on some stereotype that they cheat people, much like the term "jew."  The root of "gyp," however, is not as immediately apparent and many people who use it are unaware of its derogatory nature and and even those who do most likely mean no harm by it (whereas unless you've been living under a rock, you should be well aware of the origin of the term "jew" and the negative stereotype it connotes).  In fact,"Gypsy" itself is considered a derogatory term (derived from the mistaken belief that the people are from Egypt) and Roma is considered the preferred nomenclature.

Because we didn't  bring the Gypsies over in chains and made them slaves? More likely because people don't run into a lot of gypsy people to offend.

(And does anyone in mixed company really use "got Jew'd" anymore?  It may not have as bad a connotation, but I don't think it's wildly acceptable).

A member of the Jewish people is a Jew--nothing derogatory about that, though something like "that Jew" is harsh-sounding and isn't quite a term of endearment.  As for the N word, it is a very strong word and I don't like typing it.  Go ahead--blame me, society, political correctness, whatever.  There are very strong emotions about the word and it just packs a bigger punch, somewhat analagous to how how the C-bomb sounds much worse than "shit."  (If you don't know what the C-word is, Jane Fonda would be happy to tell you.)

I would take it one step further: don't use the terms at all.  It would be better for them to be said in private than in public but slurs (if said with meaning, as opposed to saying gyp without being aware of its meaning) represent a backwards view of people that categorizes them according to their race/ethnicity/religion/etc.  It's not a good way to view the world.

It's supposed to be obvious what you're lying about, but I don't know if your lie was where you said you're not really "the politically correct type," or when you mentioned that some ppl "find the word 'gypped' offensive."

I do not understand this obsession with Michigan Athletics.

This blog isn't worth the powder to blow it up with.

I swear I will not return in ten minutes.

Did you hear that Michigan State owns the state in terms of recruiting and they have the best coach in the Big Ten. Also going 6-7 means you are about to win the Big Ten champoinship the next year. Also it doesn't matter that Dantonio recruits kids that get in trouble all the time, Rich Rodriquez is the one that recruits all the questionable players.
