Maybe I’m alone, but this is such a worthless award. Sometimes I wish every other school out there would back out of consideration just to give a middle finger to Stanford.

According to Wikipedia, Texas has 18 varsity sports, Stanford 36, OSU 39, and UM 29. Where did the 41 come from?

Should cap the amount of sports counted at 25 or so.
The Director’s Cup should only involve sports Michigan is good at.
Well, there is a cap. I believe it's like your best 15 or 20 sports in men's and women's. However, when they have every sport the ones that don't perform well are covered by the ones that win. Basically, Stanford has more swings to get a hit.
I think its actually a set 25 sports and Michigan doesnt have a varsity team in like 9 of the sports,including rifle shooting,skiing,lacrosse (which i think Michigan might qualify now, not sure) and other sports

Stanford will never be beat.
I have been to a few football games on the farm and I have to say it truly is an amazing campus, both the academic side as well as the sports complexes. It would have to be my #1 choice for my children (if I ever have any) if they had that opportunity.
Get ready to spend money on test prep. And move to a wealthy neighborhood with nationally-ranked public schools or shell out for private education.
75 percent of the Stanford grads I know had both.
FWIW Stanford is a private univ. and is nestled in probably the highest rent district outside of Manhattan, Columbia, NYU etc. Mich is nearly always the leader on that list of public universities.
