The bear on the left is jamming the outside receiver while the slot goes deep. I think the bear on the left has more shut-down potential.

You can see him read the play, start backpedalling as he realizes it's not a run, then he only turns once he needs to keep pace with the receiver. Another plus: some receivers will simply refuse to even line up on his side of the field.
On the other hand, Barwis' dogs are going to have a serious problem with him, I doubt he can learn zone coverages, and even the simplest courseload will be too much.

I have no idea why but I just read your critique, watched the video again and about died laughing because it's spot on. You know it's time for football season when we are recruiting a bear for defensive back and saying he's a 3-star.

Does not backpedal quickly, figures to be a liability in most zone coverages as he tends to roam several miles out of his zone frequently. Huge asset for teams playing Bump and Maul coverage. "

GERG may want to press the corners to get the most out of him. Major intimidation factor for receivers coming off the line.High risk for losing his wings by not participating in off-season conditioning.
Prediction Based on Flimsy Evidence: After redshirting and Barwis-sizing off about 250 lbs. of bad weight, Bear could help on special teams as a RS Freshman, especially on field goal blocks with his unusual height. Potential starter as an upperclassman if he can avoid getting distracted by migrating game animals and trash cans with lids not securely fastened.

You still get the +1 because that was awesome, but I'm disappointed for a clearly lacking section: YMRMFSPA. I'm thinking Biff, the former Wolverine mascot. Although the scale is off, the proportions are actually pretty similar, and the intimidation factor is similarly huge, especially on those bump and mauls. Biff, if you'll remember, had the same negative tendency to roam huge tracks of land. Although Bear really lacks the brilliance that's inherent in a Wolverine like Biff, but I'm thinking the size should help compensate.

I suppose if you're looking for a one year rental and a warm body, sure...
But he has been a massive disappointment at Florida State. He's barely seen the field outside of special teams. In short, I would be beyond surprised if Michigan made any sort of attempt to bring him back to the mitten.

True, but it's somewhat fair to say that UM's whole secondary situation has been a disappointment and since you only have to invest a 1 year scholly in him, I fail to see much downside unless there is the "locker room cancer" thing or he just will not cut it under Barwis. Normally, I wouldn't expect anything but he is from OLSM and I believe was considering UM before.

A lot of people wanted him to go to Mich originally, but after what happened with Jermaine Gonzales going to u of m, that pipeline at olsm sort of dried up. Hopefully he realizes he would probably have a better chance at starting here than almost any other bcs school in the country.

From what I've heard from FSU people, his head just hasn't been into it down there. He's not a weight-room warrior either, so things don't look great.
Methinks he comes home to a local school or a lower-division school.

Grant Mason can come from Stanford and grab a corner spot I do not see why a top prsoeprct not be able to cut it at Blue. Might have more heart than Turner, and a lot of out of state kids get caught up in the hype and never realize that they are being used. Teams recruit players to stop them from having quality depth even if they do no not need them. Allen said his favorite school growing up was FSU so I feel that is why he went that route. He simply got caught up. At least he lasted three years. Lets just wait and see what happens before we drop down a verdict.
