Dion Sims

Take this with a grain of salt, but a gentlemen with a good history of breaking these stories early on the Spartan Mlive is reporting Dion Sims to be a silent verbal to MSU. I think that's a good fit for both sides. Sims wants to play basketball and TE in college. We have plenty of TE's already and MSU is cleary the better choice basketball wise. All in all, it seems inconsequential as far as Michigan goes and frankly I'm wondering why anybody would care. But take that FWIW.

Yeah, he sounds like one of those guys who will be pretty good at both basketball and football but not really good at either. I'm not bummed we didn't get him, but I'd rather hear he went to like Cincinnati or something like that. I don't want MSU to get any more guys above 2 stars.

This isn't really bad news for Michigan, it's more like a mosquito bite. Sims wasn't high on UM's radar anymore, what with UM being full at TE and having a scholly crunch, so losing him isn't catastrophic at all. But losing him to MSU is the mosquito bite - not really enough to set off alarms like a snake bite or wasp sting would, but just enough of an annoyance to let us know that it's there and will require some scratching (or some calamine lotion). It's annoying in the sense that it will once again set off the delusional Michigan State fanbase about them taking over the state and swinging the balance of power in their favor, when in reality out of all of MSU's commitments, Michigan really "missed" on two of them: Baker and Norman.

I have connections at OLSM, so I will check this out next time I have the opportunity. However, I do know that Sims was not opposed to being a DE in college (and some OLSM coaches think that will be his best college position).
