Dillon Baxter Update
Just talked to Dillon Baxter, USC RB commit, and he said he's, "Really mad," about the Pete Carroll news.
Michigan was high on his list, and they almost got him to change his commitment at one point. If Pete Carroll does leave, there could be movement.
Just thought I would keep you updated.

Can a player be released from their commitment and scholarship if something, such as a coaching change, takes place? Couldn't it be viewed as a special circumstance? I have no idea which is why I am asking.

No, which is why the media occasionally make a big deal about recruits who get left high and dry by their "coaches."

No they can't and this has been a long running criticism of the system and something many feel should be changed, especially if the coach leaves before the recruit enrolls. In this case the letter of intent has not been signed so he can freely change his commitment.

Definitely a flawed part of the process imo. Especially with someone like Carroll, who seems to be the draw for these kids more than the school, it's a dealbreaker.

If the coach is fired, they can (which is why Beilein had to re-recruit Manny after Amaker was fired). If he leaves on his own, they can't. Why the double-standard, I don't know.

i think that he's ours. man oh man, how nice it would be to add a 5-star running back this late in the process. nice to see usc finally getting theirs. i'm not quite sure which makes me happier, honestly. it's close. alright, baxter. but it's very close.

Something that I just noticed, I dont know how accurate it is or how meaningful it is but just thought I would point it out. On Espn they have all of Michigan's EE as "signed" but USC's just as committed. Sense Michigan's classes started last Monday could this mean that its not official until classes actually start? Just a thought, like i said i just wanted to point it out
