Baxter has informed USC that 5 teams have contacted him to gauge his interest in transfering. Which is illegal since he is not a junior or senior. The teams are Florida, Alabama, Oregon, Washington and Fresno St.
Dillon Baxter illegally contacted by 5 teams
How awesome would it be to see the hammer come down on all of them also.
that would give Urban Meyer a heart condition...oh, hell...
ANDROID ROBOT ARTIFICIAL HUMANOID
...I cannot wait for Fresno State to get their comeuppance.
What kind of penalties can they get for this? Is it possible to lose a few scholarships for that, or are there any basic guidelines the NCAA uses?
POST-SEASON BANS AND LOSSES OF SCHOLARSHIPS. The NCAA needs to send a message about illegal contact.
Praise the lord it wasn't us!
As soon as I read the story, I just kept saying to myself "please don't be us, please don't be us." That's the last thing RR needs, more fuel for the haters.
someone chase down the phone records and find the area codes for Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Seattle, Eugene and Fresno on the 10th linked to Baxter's phone. Wonder how long the denials would last then. Anyone here have mgosubpoena power?
Isn't Bama still on prohibation?
My girlfriend tried to implement that policy, but I just said, "What the hell else am I supposed to do in the shower?"
My bad, studying for a history test, and posting generally doing work well together.
Interesting of choice word order.
Commence face palm pics.
short answer or multiple choice?
And, you could go blind.
Watching the World Cup and reading, and a delightful commercial for a shaving stuff comes on that's supposed to eliminate "irritating tug and pull." How in the world did that phrase make it out of the focus group stage?!
Joe Schad source says Baxter "lost his phone" on cell phone records theory.
This whole "check out these other schools cheating" just wreaks of Kiffin and his childish antics.
I hope somebody gets a hold of some phone records and finds that nobody tried to contact Baxter at all.
Reeks of = stinks to high heaven.
Wreaks = causes, usually in a destructive fashion.
Listen I was an EECS major. I only had to take one English class my entire four years, and it was all about reading short stories and writing off the wall essays that infuriated my hippy GSI who didn't believe in grades.
Thanks though, I should have known that one. :)
Engineering's not an excuse and it kind of grinds my gears when people think it is. While I was giving a North Campus tour, I had some parent get indignant that his engineering major son had to WRITE an admissions essay. They beat the techcom into us in Aero so we don't make asses of ourselves (and our school) at work. The engineers I'm interning with were pleasantly surprised I can hold a conversation (especially w.r.t. football and hockey), correct typos if need be, compose an email like a pro, and still know all the technical things you would expect a rising junior to know. This reflects well on Michigan engineering.
Also, I took a 300-level history course last semester and got a 96 on the first essay test I've taken since high school. The LSA girls behind me? Like OMG 70s! We passed!
is that we aren't on the list.
MIGHTY FRESNO STATE
anybody, anywhere, any time.
...that it is a violation in this scenario. Somebody verify that, but I think schools can contact, them, no? Or is it only Juniors and Seniors that they can contact?
As far as I can tell from what has been said so far, only the Juniors and seniors can be contacted.
Its a violation. Schools can only contact juniors and seniors. Only freshmen that can leave without sitting out are the ones who didn't enroll early. Baxter enrolled early. I don't know what kind of violation it is, but I would guess under NCAA rules it is probably a "major" violation.
I think thats a bit of hyperbole. Having one of the harshest penalities in the history of intercollegiate sports is hardly a great recruiting tool.
Jeremy Gallon. Gallon's name is biblical, USC will come out of this without a scratch?? Gallon and some Wolverines got something to say about that
they don't miss on a single one of those 15 players they get to bring in for each of the next three years. If they have even a normal amount of busts, they are going to be in a world of hurt in 2013-2015.
Does the Pac-X have a limit of kids that can you can recruit in any one period like the B10? The NCAA says no more than 25 at one time, but that doesn't take into account EE's. I could see Kiffin going all "Houston Nutt Crazy" and signing 35 kids the first chance he gets to restock the team. At least 10 would enroll early, and the rest in the fall. They'd be young, but it would be a way to get back to 85 scholarships quicker.
If the Pac-X does have a max per class, then this penalty will have an effect on the team lost past their probation (or prohibation) period. That brings me joy...but I guess I'm just jealous.
the only reason EE's might not count is because you can back date them to the previous class. and since their first full recruiting class after the reduction presumably won't be able to back date any scholarships I don't really see a way to catch up quickly like that, with or without signing limits.
How nice is the thought that if he does transfer he has burned bridges to these schools.
As nice as that sounds, if he's doing things like this I'm thinking he's just acting as Kiffin's bitch.
Thanks for the laugh, i wonder what will come of it. does anyone know?
