and how do you decide there not to kick a field goal? Wow. Together with the playcalling on the 1 yard line, those may very well be the dumbest coaching decisions by this staff yet.
yes plz
i've been watching michigan footgall a long time and do remember consecutive losses like this. Maybe there was but i don't remember it.
When did your mother let you out of the basement Mr. Rosenberg?
Are you being serious? App state then Oregon? Albeit the first wasn't a blowout, but those two games combined were infinitely worse than this shit.
I stupidly made a comment to my friend after the game that this loss today might have been worse than the App State or Oregon loss. Then I quickly took it back after I thought about it for a second. The difference is the high expectations that were on that year's team, versus the rebuilding this team still obviously needs to do. This loss is still inexcusable to me, but definitely not as bad as the ones you mentioned. I felt pretty stupid after I realized what I had said to my friend...
but the thing about App State is that we weren't ready and didn't start playing until it was too late (well almost, anyway).
Here, Illinois had talent. Michigan was ready to play. They had a good week of practice according to RR. They knew coming in how talented Illinois was b/c they saw it last year. They played well in the first half, but ended up getting blown out becuase they totally lost focus during the second half. At least that's what I saw. To me, these two in a row are worse than app state and oregon from that standpoint.
On the other hand, we undoubtedly had more talent then than now.

I agree. Does not show a lot of confidence in the D. If the coaches had it, they would take the 3 points.
With the punt block down 15 with around 4 minutes left seemed to be somewhat reasonable. But today was not our day.. Not even a little bit.
Bright side: If we put our first drives together the last few games we look pretty good.

There were definitely some strange decisions by the staff today. Not calling a timeout with a minute to go in the first half (after we'd gotten a 3rd-down stop) was mystifying. I don't understand what we were thinking.
I had the same thought on not kicking the field goal - it would have made sense. I think that may have been a lapse of judgment born of frustration at that point. I also didn't quite get not calling the timeout at the end of the half, but apparently the strategy was all out to block the punt or just let the half run out - a little strange.
is officially in the toilet. I'm not trash-talking. This is a fact. This performance right here stinks in an incomprehensible way.
