Fifth "did you know"....
... that Dennis Fizgerald won a golf medal in wrestling at the 1963 Pan American Games, and set the Michigan Wolverines football record with a 99-yard kickoff return?
Anyone else think someone at Wikipedia is an alum as this is the second U of M football reference in about a month and the fourth or fifth in about six months?
Wasn't Fitzgerald the last Wolverine to win the coveted Golf medal? If memory serves, I believe wrestling standardized its awards nomenclature by at least 1965 or 1966, and dropped the golf award altogether.
There's been a little bit of a tizzy lately about informative thread titles. See: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/mgoboard-faq for more information.
That is some pretty interesting tidbits though. I didn't know, but now I do.
That it is not OT, or Semi-OT, whatever the hell that means.
semiotic. Or Semi-OTic.
And knowing it half the battle.
Thanks for the heads up.
I sometimes win golf medals for playing golf. True story.
I'm sure we have a guy in Wikipedia. It's the largest alumni base in the country, and many of them are big into computer sciences. We have people in the White House, Google, Wikipedia--everywhere.
