12 minutes left in the 2nd half and the lady wolverines are up only 5 now 40-35. Iowa is riding into town on a 5 game winning streak. Michigan needs this win to solidify their tournament chances to get a bid. W ell anyway to anyone interest it is on the BTN still 40-35 with the lady wolverines going to the foul line.
Did not see posted yet WBB versus Iowa
I have noticed we have been up by 15 once or twice but we are getting mauled again on the boards. T hat is the one weakness of the ladies that is pretty bad and could cost us in the Big Ten Tourney or the Big Dance also. Hope we just keep crashing as hard as we can cause Iowa is hot and starting to make their run.
Let's go ahead and fix the grammar in that title.
and sorry I feel very dumb right now. But thanks for not making a huge deal and just asking me to fix it.
Denard is at the game. Denard? Denard.
only have a 2 point lead this is not looking pretty right now. Come on gals lets pull this out at home. Still 7 plus minutes left to go.
Nice to see Hardaway Jr. and these other athletes supporting the team. Gut it out. Let's go.
to a to a 7 point lead with 3 minutes 24 seconds left in the game. Plus Tim Hardaway Jr, Denard and a few others are at the game showing their school spirit.
Drive it to the hoop.
9-0 run in around 2 minutes now up 58-57 with just 48 seconds left wow this may hurt
Iowa missed a 1 and 1 14 seconds U of M still down 1
Come on Blue. Just one bucket.
loss that may cost a NCAA bid. We just can't put the lower tier teams away this year. Well here is to the ladies bouncing back and winning those last 3 or 4 games most are winnable. Dang this loss hurts.
The ladies will still make it to the NCAA Tournament with a 18-8 record. The only way I would be worried about their chances is if they lose to 0-12, last place indiana sunday. They have a chance to get revenge on iowa's home court.
2/19 at Indiana Noon/BTN
2/23 vs Purdue 6pm/BTN
2/26 at Iowa 3pm
Hopefully they will redeem themselves and win out. It is definitely possible with that schedule.
This loss was almost as bad as the home game against state. This team is good enough to be ranked in the top 20 but they really struggle to close out close games with a wins. I hope this doesnt keep them out of the tournament.
but the last 3 or 4 years I have thought they would get in, and last year for sure every bracketology had us in easy. And every year we get shafted kinda like the Amaker years in MBB. Plus OOC this year was kinda weak at 18-8 probably losing to Purdue we would be 20-9 and a first round loss in the Big Ten Tourney would make it real close IMO
Why assume a first-round loss in the conference tournament? The team won't be getting a bye, so the first game will be very winnable.
Going into this game, I thought they'd still be in good shape going 2-2 in the last four games. So if they beat Indiana and Iowa and win the first game in Big Ten tournament, I think that would be enough.
Compared to last year, the team's resume is much better. They had four bad losses last year vs. just one this year. They also have two nonconference top-50 wins this year to go along with the big conference wins over Ohio and Nebraska.
I am stating worst case scenario that is all was trying to say there. If all that happens and we are 20-10 I am not certain we are in the March Madness. So we have to win 2 to be safe I agree, and as I stated we suck against teams we should beat this year in Big Ten play so without the first round bye does not mean we will win.
go back and look at last years OOC games and I bet you will not think this year was better. We played around 4 ranked teams before we even got to Big Ten play last year. Like I said all the brackets had them at a 10 seed and I was shocked watching the seeding show and we did not make it. We beat 4 ranked teams last year and swept OSU who was ranked top 15 all year.
There may be other brackets I didn't see. But of the three I saw last year, only Charlie Creme's at ESPN had Michigan in the tournament. He always seems to overrate Michigan's chances, so I take his projections with a huge grain of salt.
Also, I'm almost positive that some of those teams that were ranked when Michigan beat them faltered later in the year, and those wins didn't look nearly as good by the end of the season. The selection committee doesn't care if you beat a ranked team; they only care if you beat a team with a top-25 or top-50 RPI by year's end.
What killed Michigan last year were the bad losses down the stretch, including the loss in the Big Ten Tournament. Having only 1 bad loss is a major improvement over the 4 of last year.
to follow the ladies more than I do so I am actually happy to hear you thinking we are going to be in. I am not in the know enough to argue my point just get nervous after the last few years. I just know if they dont rebound better we are open for another let down versus a team we should handle. Today there is no excuse for letting them on a 9-0 run in less than 2 minutes and not even getting shots on th eother end with a few turnovers and missed layups down the stretch.
Well, I don't think they're in no matter what happens down the stretch. If they lose to both Purdue and Iowa (again)--or if they somehow lose to Indiana--then their only chance is a very deep run in the conference tournament or winning the whole thing.
I can understand your frustration about this loss and your nervousness about their tourney chances. The team has lost a number of close games that could have made them tourney locks, and that's certainly frustrating. And I completely agree that it's always a bad idea to leave your bid in the hands of the selection committee.
Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but right now I think they're in better shape than they were at the same point in last year's season.
every possible thing except they were 10-6 in conference play, and this year they gotta win all three to get to 10-6. But I agree 2 wins before the Big Ten Tourney is probably enough, or 1 win before and 2 in the tourney.
Yeah Michigan is currently a 9 and Iowa is a 11. Seems like MIchigan needs to beat Indiana and try to get both of the remaining games. It's definitely crunch time. Maybe they respond like the men's team to a loss.
I'm watching The Journey right now and even though they are playing well I want another shot at State and Green. Would be an interesting neutral court game.
I think we have done enough already with just getting 1 or 2 more wins, but you never wanna leave it to debate when it comes to selection Monday.
I'm sorry, but that was an absolute choke job. The ladies came out of halftime complacent. Two home games in a row that we just gave away.
