Did Braxton Miller (remember him?) Commit A NCAA Violation Last Night?

Submitted by mGrowOld on

Saw this on a tweet just now from a local (Cleveland based) sports media guy I follow Kenny Rhoda.  Seems that Braxton posted a picture of himself last night on Instagram alongside a Columbus-based nutrional supplement distributor behind a row of his products and included a link to Miller's website for ordering.  The post was quickly deleted.

I know nothing of this website that broke the story nor do I think the NCAA will give two shits about it but I thought it was interesting.

the scene in goodfellas at Tommy's house where they have dinner with his mom is almost entirely improvised.  The original scene was supposed to have Tommy just take his mom(Martin Scorcese's actual mother) back to bed but the cast believed it would be an opportunity to throw some humor into the movie when it had become increasingly dark and the characters almost unrelatable.

this dog facing this way you got this dog facing that way."  If you watch it again you can tell it was largely ad libbed.  The conversation does not flow the way scripted scenes do(even ones with bad writing), it is awkward in the same way having dinner with your friend's mother would be awkward (minus the whole dead body in the car thing). The dialogue is really stilted and doesn't go anywhere. Liotta in particular looks as though he knows he is outclassed by Deniro and Pesci and is just following their lead.  It is an interesting scene to watch.

improvised/off script - Robin Williams entire story about his wife farting and waking him in the therapy sessions of Good Will Hunting.  The in-office therapy scenes had to be shot numerous times because Williams would go into routines and characters, they would have to stop shooting because Matt Damon was laughing to hard to continue filming.

Sounds like somebody (Meyer) is developing gastrointestinal issues...or laying the groundwork for an illness related departure from OSU once Harbaugh establishes Harbaugh dominance.

If Michigan starts out at least 3-1 in the next '10 year war', the war will be over in 4 years.

I think Miller should transfer to UM. Then JH could beat Meyer with his own QB. That might be kind of cool. It will never happen though.

Miller has to be like wtf.  In the span of 8 months he went from Heisman contender(kind of frontrunner) pre-season to a back up to a quarterback that was replaced by another quarterback who lead his team to a national championship.

You have to wonder what was going through that kid's mind last year.  That is some humble pie.

but when you think that you are the guy and learn very quickly that you are but one of many it has to be hard to swallow.  Whatever, I don't care, I am just saying it was probably a tough pill to swallow, that's all.  Not hating on him, I am genuinely saying it was probably a tough year for him.

Hey, your avatar says your rational.  Don't go changing things up now.

Not disagreeing that it is probably a tough pill to swallow, but he was no more a backup then Jake Ryan was when he tore his ACL. Maybe he doesn't start this year, and count me in the group that hopes he doesn't (at QB), I just took exception with the syntax.

The NBC article quotes the relevant sections of the NCAA Handbook - LINK

From a supplemental document called "Compliance Information", you get this -

A common problem for student-athletes is in the area of implied endorsements. Remember that if you demonstrate a product on behalf of a company, and/or provide a comment or interview about a product, service or company, you are jeopardizing your eligibility. Please be cautious about these types of circumstances and contact the Compliance Staff BEFORE engaging in any type of activity.

I would doubt anything really comes of this, but it is noteworthy all the same. If compensation was involved, I believe you are not eligible until the appropriate restitution is made, at least under current rules.
