Soccer has invaded Michigan Stadium.

The Real Madrid training session is going on right now and this photo has circulated-

Okay, that's enough threads for a couple days.

the distance the camera is from the field.  You don't usually see soccer fields from that distance given how small and compressed most European stadium are on top of that most first first rows in England are actually below or equal to field level.

it is a narrow looking field, helped by the brickwalls.

I was there at the training session. I was one of of a handful people there who actually knew who Devin was. I screamed his name a few times and he looked my way. He was throwing the football back and forth with Gareth Bale. Over 20,00 people showed up great scene.

Not to re-introduce World Cup material, but any update on the possibility of Qatar having the WC yanked and it possibly coming to America? Wha't the timeline on that?

My brother-in-law works closely with FIFA because he is a high end ticket broker for the World Cup and Euro Cup, and according to him, there's a near-zero chance anything changes with Qatar, at least in terms of moving it to another country.  Qatar has invested too much money at this point, and if moving it becomes a legit possibility, the bribes will be too large to turn down.

The USA has become a hot market for club football.  I wonder when the EPL or La Liga or Serie A or the Bundesliga will hold an actual competitive match in the USA, the way the NFL holds actual competitive games in the UK.  I think it is only a matter of time until one of the leagues does it.

I don't know.  Looks like they got 10k there.

Say you drop it to $25 and an extra 5k show up.  You make a little more money, but not a ton.  Did they maximize their revenue?  I don't know - I presume the organizers have done this thing before and hae a bunch of stats and data to tell them what ticket price gives them the best reenue.

the pictures in your OP and see that the students are late in showing up for soccer, too.

Even after Michigan Stadium had the upgrade in cell coverage.

Didn't you spread the word to them, too, WD?

When Obama came to Ann Arbor and shouted out Denard, I have to imagine he's a good bit more famous than any athlete is. If Devin were to meet him or the next president[s] around for his football career, I would assume that would dwarf any athlete in a "most famous" competition.
