I think the only year we take 1 QB will be years we get a top 5 QB overall. Harbaugh took only Luck one year at Stanford who generally was #4 overall.
I will say it is going to be somewhat difficult to get a top rated QB to come in a year right after another so I think in general you might have a mix of top 5 QBs in 1 year offset by two 6 to 15 ranked QBs which is still great. It's difficult to judge everything on Stanford because Jim had not established himself as a top notch coach until his last year there and didnt have the NFL experience he has now.
But just being realistic we are not going to get classes with the #1 and #3 QB one year and then follow it up with the #2 QB the following year. These guys want to play and it has nothing to do with 'fear of competition' meme - these recruits all say they want a path to playing time early and you can bet QBs more than anyone. So alternating some years between a super elite recruit followed the next by 2 lower rated (but still 4ish stars) guys makes sense over a 2 year cycle. Jim never had that luxury at Stanford outside of the Luck pick - his 2 recruits a year at QB were lower rated kids.

And I laughed at that. Time to get the eyes checked.

Harbaugh seems to prefer 2 guys and his name/ star power allows for both guys to be highly rated. My guess is that Messiah thought he would be better off someplace else. It's not what he signed up for.

Maybe Jim had a candid conversation with him about his future with us. Then decided it wasn't a fit?
I feel like Jim is that kind of guy to shoot you straight and recruit his needs and this was a brady guy.

This thread sucks.
Mr. DeWeaver, I wish you the best no matter where you end up. Good luck sir.

I guess he does not want to be a champion ...

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush and everything like that...
...but last summer I was hoping that Michigan would hold off on offering DeWeaver because I thought they had a chance at a couple players who I think are better. This is a Captain Obvious statement, but there's definitely the potential for this to turn out positively for Michigan.

Wishing you all the best in your academic and athletic careers. Thank you for considering the University of Michigan, and thank you for waiting to see who the next head coach will be and meeting with Coach Harbaugh before making any decisions. Sincerely,

Like Dane Crist. Frankly I hope that ND hires Paul Chryst the next time their job is open. It would be so perfect.

Also need a Hispanic soccer player with the first name of Jesus or last name of de Jesus as the place kicker.
You could have Chryst as HC, Messiah as QB, and Jesus or de Jesus as PK. Also, throw in a Mohammed in there somewhere.

I can't imagine that Harbaugh is horribly upset by this.

Good luck to DeWeaver. He'll end up in a good situation. A mutual parting of ways I think.

The thing about this kid that people seemed most excited about was his name.
I don't think we'll miss him. Jim mfing Harbaugh will bring in a top 5er and then we'll have something to get excited about. This is a good thing.

It's like breaking up with your 7/10 girlfriend knowing your capable of landing a 9 or 10.
