Devin Gardner - Sunday Night

Submitted by RGard on

Hi everyone, I'm hazarding a forum topic again and risking the shame of IBID.

The Steelers are playing the Vikings Sunday night.  Landry Jones is the starting quarterback for the Steelers and I'm hoping we see Devin Gardner get some playing time.

But according to the team website, he made his mark (and an article) by taking a massive hit from Lawrence Timmons after making a reception.  And holding on.

But when the veteran linebacker met the rookie quarterback/wide receiver in the middle of the practice field after a pass reception on Sunday afternoon, the resulting open-field hit could be heard as well as noticed.
Timmons delivered a high, hard blow and appeared to get all of Gardner in the process. But Gardner held on and even managed to stay on his feet. Turns out he was just doing what was expected, as well.
“I kinda saw him right after I caught it,” Gardner said. “After I felt it I knew who it was."

This is an extra pre-season game so I'm thinking Tomlin gets everybody he can into the game.

Best of both worlds for me.  Grew up in Pittsburgh and I'm a Michigan grad.  I do hope he makes the team.

My wife grew up in Pittsburgh.  I grew up in Detroit.  My wife went to Cincinnatti.  I went to UM.  We have different ethnicities/religions.  When we got married we agreed that our children would be raised with her ethnic/religious traditions rather than mine.  And in exchange, I could raise the kids exclusively as Detroit/UM sports fans.  15 years and 3 kids later, that is still considered the best negotiation of my life.

IBID is a fickle monster and eats thread seemingly randomly - we as mods can only do so much to prevent this from happening. That being said, this has definitely not come across the board yet and despite the fact that I will be on a short vacation on Sunday night, I will tune in to this for as long as I can to see if Gardner gets in the game and to see how he does. Always willing to catch up with a Wolverine.
