Devin Gardner QB2 --> WR1 --> QB1
This might go back years in college football history. But has there been a player in college who has had similar or better stats than Devin Gardner as a receiver and quarterback ? Last year he had 11 throwing TD's and 4 receiving. I'm not talking about rushing TD's because it's not often that players recruited to play at QB end up switching from receiver back to QB in their college career (or rather in the same season).

Ryan Tannehill?

That's who people keep comparing Devin to. I've never seen the guy play.

Yup

Ryan Tannehill was one heck of a WR and QB. Not to mention he went #8 overall. I've seen both of them play, and I honestly believe Gardner is a better QB than what Tannehill was his Senior year at A&M.

Tannehill's Receiving Stats

Tannehill's Receiving Stats Fresh and Soph year. Looks like he switched to QB as Jr (though he did have 11 receptions):

I heard Jesse Palmer say on

I heard Jesse Palmer say on espn how he is a converted WR so he has athleticism that makes him a threat. No Jesse, he was a converted QB playing WR. Shouldn't be surprised by espn and its lack of knowledgable analysts but I still get irritated by it.

More like lazy thinking; I was particularly vexed

by Mussberger and Hebstreit's inanities last night. I think you could make a pretty good drinking game just by coming up with the obvious thing they are going to say next just before they say it.

I particularly enjoy ESPN's "Keys to the game", I recall the key to succeed was for the offense to 'execute' and that was it.

Well, no shit ESPN.

Kain Colter

Kain Colter from Northwestern has been a jack-of-all-trades during his career. He has spent time at QB, RB, and WR.

Colter v Tannehill v Gardner

Cain Colter played a lot at QB and in the wild cat. In 2012, in his most prolific year he:
Pass: 8 td. 872 yd. Run: 12 td. 894 yd. Catch: 3 td. 169 yd.

Tannehill played receiver his first two years with decent production. In 2011, in his tweener year where he started as a receiver and switched to QB where he:
Pass: 11 td. 1638 yd. Run: 1 td. 76 yd. Catch: 1 td. 143 yd.

Devin Gardner sat the bench behind Tate and Denard his first two years. In 2012, In his tweener year he:
Pass: 11 td. 1219 yd. Run: 7 101 yd. Catch: 4 td. 270 yd.

I think Gardner had one of the best single seasons at both receiver/quarterback production.

Hines Ward, although he was a

Hines Ward, although he was a WR who played QB for a season, then ended back at WR (so pretty much the inverse of Gardner).

Sure did!

They mentioned last week during the Georgia/Clemson game that he played QB in the Peach Bowl and threw for over 400 yards in the game. Then played WR in his last two years amd put up some pretty good numbers.

Hines Ward 1995

Played for the bulldogs. In his tweener year he put up some interesting numbers.
Pass: 872 yd. but only 2 td. Rush: 248 yd. 2 td. Receptions: 249 yd. but 0 td.

I love Devin Gardner. He is the definition of what The Team, The Team, The Team is all about. What will help the team. Playing WR last year and then came and led the team when Denard went down.

I was going to say Antwaan

I was going to say Antwaan Randle El at Indiana, but when I looked up his stats, it seems her hardly played receiver at all.

Seems like he did everything for them though, played QB, RB, and returned some kicks/punts.
