Devin Funchess Interview

Submitted by Steve Lorenz on

Hey guys, I just finished talking to Devin Funchess and thought I'd share the interview. I posted it tonight because he gave me a prediction for tonight's game at the end. Enjoy: LINK

The fact that he WANTS to play WR and we NEED him to play TE, kinda worries me.  Hopefully he will be motivated enough to bulk up, because we really need TEs

with his height and ball skills he can be our megatron. this boy can go up and get it. with big play hemmingway leaving Denard could really use this guy.

isn't he a bit unlikely to line up as a true TE at 222?  I'd think 240 or so before he can handle that position, unless Georgeous Al has something special for a WR who is in the process of getting TE-sized.

hard to see Devin adding enough weight to play on the line..might as well move him around. He is a miss match for any defender.   i love his drive.  he will own as a WR.  can't wait to see him play.

Not every TE is huge.  He's already 210 or so, and he certainly has the frame to put on more weight.  Lot's of successful TEs are in the 235-240 range, and he can certainly hit that.

He'll never be a huge bruiser TE (most likely) but that's OK.  Wisconsin has had a couple very good TEs over the last few years who were just overgrown WRs.  It makes for a lot of match up problems.

Thanks for posting!  I'm excited for Devin to suit up in the Maize and Blue.  I liked what he said about Tradition- "It's a great thing to be a part of it because it's never forgotten and one play could keep you in the minds of many for the rest of their lives."

So true.  Here's to you Devin- hopefully one day we'll be looking back at some spectacular plays that you made on the field for us!
