As well as AJ Williams apparently (also according to TomVH).

Devin Funchess Commits (via TomVH) AND OH TE AJ Williams
I could get used to this whole "4-star mafia" thing.
It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!
Welcome to the best family in the world!!
GO BLUE!!
This picture makes me worry about pad level. How is he supposed to be a blocking TE if he's 4 feet off the ground?
Well, that's before Coach Funk touches him.
Ferrigno is his future coach.
Was referring specifically to blocking specifically, and that's the first name that came to mind when it came to blocking.
I look forward to you referencing Darrell Funk when talking about Martavious Odoms's blocking skills.
We should be most concerned about his shoelaces. Look at that thing flapping in the wind. It could put an eye out.
No one can ever excel with untied laces...
Just a shout out to the rest of the Big Ten. BEWARE. Michigan Wolverines are on the way back to the top. What a truly great day for our Wolverine Nation. Keep up the awesome job Brady, and Lets GO BLUE.
It's a TEapalooza!
Two very nice pickups.

6'5", 205 lbs, ESPN150 Watch List, 4* #6 TE to Scout.
Good pickup. Either Thompson or he should be a great receiving option. Also Sparty's gonna be pissed. A lot of them feel as if the FHH trio were all bound for them.
EDIT: and A.J. Williams...

6'6", 260 lbs, 3* #15 TE to Scout.
Solid pickups at TE, filling bot the receiving and blocking molds the coaches wanted.
Thanks for the links, love the pickups. Keep em coming Brady.
What a great start to a Friday!
Go Blue!
Notable offers for both if no one wants to click links:
Funchess-Cincy, Illinois, Sparty, Mizzou, Nebraska (possible OSU interest)
Williams-Arkansas, Illinois, Sparty, WV
You think Sparty fans are starting to realize/worry, with Brady here we are going to own Michigan recruiting again? Or do they still have a solid choke hold?
They only ever had a chokehold on in-state recruiting in their warped and twisted minds.
I've seen them try and rationalize Braden and RJS coming here. But I'm personally looking forward to seeing how they spin this one. What with FHH being an "MSU feeder school" and all three of them being Lansing-bound...
They never had a solid choke hold..but I bet losing a FHH recruit is making them nerveous.
I love it, thanks for the info guys.

but sounds like they weren't surprised by this, and they now think Ojemudia is a Mich lean as well. They are realllllllllly hoping they get Burbridge, if we get him that one will sting for sure.
Welcome to the team! Glad to have you part of the Michigan family.
AJ WIlliams
Our commits really do come in pairs this year. Two O-Linemen within a day of each other, then two linebackers within a day of each other. Now two tight ends on the same day.
Great news. Welcome to both.
I'll take these in pairs...
DE - Chris Wormley, and Matt Godin
DT - Sheldon Day, and Mario Ojemudia
OL 2 - Jordan Diamond, and J.J. Denman
LB 2 - James Ross, and Joe Bolden
USA! USA!
Oh it's going to be a great day!
Best...Post...Ever.
I see you've been stepping up your game lately. Keep up the good work my man.
Go Blue!
A wave of committments!
Are we not getting Ron Thompson anymore then? I'm glad we got one of the Farmington Hills guys so far though, hopefully he can bring in Mario O and Aaron Burbridge. Both look like good tight ends, AJ is 6'6" I wonder if he runs well.
possibly moving to the offensive line.
That would make room for Thompson, I think.
2 at a time baby. 4 stars too, woohoo!!
I really couldn't find any video on AJ, but from what I found he appears to be more of a blocking TE which is possibly why he doesn't have more offers/ranked higher.
This is correct. The staff have told him he'll be a TE but he could end up on the OL. No matter where he ends, he's being brought in as a blocking TE.
Funchess on the other hand could be a big WR if the staff wanted.
Great news! Funchess is a great prospect and has some good looking teammates.
Where does this leave Ron Thompso? Are we looking to take three TE in this class?
With the relative lack of Tight Ends on the roster and the recent opening of a scholarship with the departure of Cullen Christian, I would not be surprised to see 3 TEs taken in this class, especially given the caliber of all three of them.
Michigan will take Thompson. Funchess is a TE/WR hybrid. He will play both according to him.
Funchess is gonna get points in bunchess!
Other crappy puns!
So...wrap up Ron Thompson, and then we're done at TE, right?
Ron Thompson has always been a HEAVY Michigan lean, and has almost committed to us in the past. Also, the coaches have stated that they would have no problem taking three TEs this year.
I don't think it's crazy to think that one of these tight ends could end up as a wide receiver. I miss seeing the bigger and taller wide receivers we've seen in the past. However, AJ Williams is as big as a house. I'd leave him at TE.
Funchess is already 6'5" 200+lbs. as a junior. Put him in an S&C program and he could probably get up to 240-250 without trouble.
It would take quite a bit of beefing up to add 40-50 lbs. to a frame. It's possible on a 6'5" frame but Junior Hemingway is 6'1" 225 lbs. Our S & C program could mold Funchess anyway they want. I wouldn't hesitate to pluck another TE.
I would love to see Funchess molded into a beast WR. I think I read he has a 4.6 right now in the 40, sick the S&C coach on him, make him bigger/faster/stronger...boom...beast mode. But either way, glad to have him!
Oh YEAAAAHHHHHHH!
Welcome to Michigan gents!!
Two By Two HAnds of BLUE!!!
+1 for Firefly/Serenity reference.
/scifigeek
Chance we see another commit today?
or do you know something?
No, but since the coaches have said they will take 3 TE's this year, and two just committing, it could trigger a commitment from someone like Ron Thompson to ensure he has his spot.
I had just heard that we may see another one. Yes, I'm extremely greedy lol
I had just heard that we may see another one. Yes, I'm extremely greedy lol
I guess you are....
I don't know if it's his recruiting strategy or just the way things worked out so far, but I really like Hoke's style of going hard after recruits early in the process.
Could Williams be an OT prospect? 6'6"/260 already.
damn you
i was just going to post the same comment. i doubt he ends his college career at TE. if memory serves, jon jansen was recruited as a TE and he turned out pretty well at LT.
Am I insane in thinking that Williams may be ticketed for offensive tackle? 6'6" 260 already?
Love the avatar
that Funchess committed. I guess I figured he was gonna go green.
6'6 260 pound TE. Anyone else thinking a redshirt and then a beast of a pulling guard (Omameh 2.0)
Kind of tall for the interior line. Probably a better fit at tackle.
big enough to play as a true freshman. But what the hell do I know?
On GoBlueWolverine, Funchess said that the coaching staff told him he would play TE and WR, and Williams was told that "They are definitely looking at me for tight end."
any chance funchess plays wr? i'm just fantasizing over a behemoth wide reciever on the outside
Guessing from the post you replied to:
"On GoBlueWolverine, Funchess said that the coaching staff told him he would play TE and WR..."
I think that says there's a chance
overplayed "LOL Sparty ownz the STAEE" comment.
msu green mafia 4eva!!!!!!!!!!
COME ON DOWN
Awesome. Great way to start a weekend, Look at Hoke doing work on the recruiting. We are going to have an awesome class without ol' zeke.
Damn, whats up with these 4*'s?!
I like all this action from 4* guys so no one take this the wrong way, but is Michigan in position to get any 5* guys after missing out on Pike?
Chris Wormley, DE (a Michigan lean?)
Bri'onte Dunn, RB (current OSU commit who's said he wants to visit Michigan)
Man I needed this after the Pike, Christian and D-Mo news!
With the third set of position commitments pledging in pairs, it's possible that's not a coincidence. It could be indicative of a relatively common recruiting strategy that's employed to varying degrees at most programs across the country: "we have two TE spots this year, and I just wanted to let you know that one was filled this afternoon. If you want a spot in this class, it's now or never; I'm going to make this same phone call to five other guys after you, but wanted to give you the first crack at it."
This is a high-pressure sale that can be very effective; one potential drawback whenever the stratagem is employed is an increased risk of decommitments down the road (e.g. guys who were leaning Blue but not completely sure pull the trigger to reserve a spot but may not have finished their soul-searching).
I have no idea whether or to what degree Michigan is employing similar pressure tactics, and I don't think anyone in our class so far is going to decommit, but it's something to consider.
That said, welcome Funchess and Williams. Best decision you'll ever make!
Does when they have tons of offers out, but its also early. I would say at QB or TE this happens, not at OL/DL/LB/DB, etc
Two good pickups here. They seem like they could play more than just TE also.
Burbridge? Seems like he is closer with Ojemudia.
All Big Ten potential
It truly is a good Friday
#HALOL
This is really good news! Thanks for posting it!
Great to see another position of need filled.
Awesome news. I like it. I like it a lot.
The staff wasn't lying when they said they'd be stressing the midwest. 3 from Michigan and 3 from Ohio.
...so far.
the 'nati
As for Williams...was he even on the radar outside of 'interest'? I must have missed that.
We''ve led for him for a while but most of the TE talk seemed to be around Thompson and Funchess.
I wonder with the transfers would we rather take a 3rd TE (Thompson) or a fourth LB (bolden and or BIGGS)
Depends if anyone else leaves, but I'd be inclined to say there will be more and if so we can do both.
Agree. Plus, none of these 3 tight ends seems like a lock to stay at the position, so it's not necessarily true that we'd be getting 3 TEs.
Just a hunch after seeing some pretty unhappy players coming off of the field after the spring game.
Hard to say right now. Apparently the staff have told Funchess he could play some WR and if that's true, they might want a 3rd TE anyway.
Combined with Williams potentially switching to OT down the road, a 3rd TE is likely, especially since the coaches have mentioned that number.
I had to look back at some TomVH posts to refresh my memory on him.
M has been in the driver's seat for quite some time. The Funchess commitment was certainly more surprising.
Edit: Refresh page, then type.
will 2 rucruits from the same position group commit to UofM, within a day or two of each other? (So far 2 - OL, 2 - LB, 2 - TE)
Wormley and Ojemudisjkjdflbhajha. It's gonna be a good day.
Or I'd be fine with Wormley and Godin.
Godin is a DT, Ojemudia and Wormley are DE.
Godin and Day would be a good....er day.
I really want to get Diamond's and Thompson's commitments but if we had to take a position pair next I'd like (in my dream order):
1. O'Brien & Day - DT
2. Wormley & Godin (or Ojemudia) - DE
3. Diggs & Burbridge - WR
4. Ross & Bolden - LB
5. Two safeties?
6. Diamond & Denman (or Pirsig) - OL
7. Richardson & Morgan (or Reeves) - CB
**1. Mauk & Kiel - QB
Haha, I definitely wouldn't mind one of them unless Morris somehow commits to us this year. As for RB, I think that priority is on the backburner unless one of the following happens (again in order of my dreams):
1. Dunn decommits from Tsio for us :)
2. Marshall commits
3. Brown comes in a package with Diggs
We have a decent shot with every pair on that list (more or less) except the wide receivers.
Well yeah, I try to keep my dreams reasonable.
Jarrod Wilson is one safety.
Deon Bush? (listed as S on scout) or Anthony Standifer if we felt like moving him there?
Deon Bush is also listed as a safety on Rivals. However I believe the consensus is that he most likely won't leave the south, although I could be completely wrong on that. Magnus would probably know better, I think i remember him mentioning something like that in a previous thread.
Wow. Well done Michigan. Now go get some D-linemen.
This is a Michigan Man if I've ever seen one.
He looks like a commando with that hat.
lol i wonder if he has some Michigan socks, boxers and or body peircing?
At 260 lb, he is FORTY POUNDS heavier than Omameh was at the same point...kind of gives you a little perspective. This guy is either going to move to the OL...or be a monster 290 lb TE. Both are intriguing...actually.
As for Thompson, how can he commit? Unless we take two more TE, it seems we only take commits in pairs...
Or a FB? Manball?
I've never seen a 6'6" fullback.
That's because you've never seen a true man play the position.
I watched Cory Schlesinger for his entire NFL career.
the facemask counter on the Lion's website. That man shattered facemasks like they were glass.
John. Kuhn.
By the time the 6'6" fullback leaves Michigan he will be 4'8" right Coach Hoke?
Nice pickups, love that we got a kid from FHH...Eat it sparty.
AJ Williams looks HUGE, I would not be surprised whatsoever if he moves to OL.
Eat it Sparty and please eat Funchess. Time to put on a few lbs
It's Good Friday, indeed.
Today was a good day.....
Great news! GO BLUE!!!
It appears the sophomoric "smurf" moniker can be put to rest. All our 2012 commits are 6feet +.
Were either of these guys the rumored "silent" commit?
Nope.
Sweet good news at last! This class is filling out nicely. Welcome aboard gentleman.
What a great day it is today. Even though it is raining, and after the crappy news yesterday, this surely brings a little sunlight into Michigan Football today. Welcome Devin and AJ.
The best thing about this recruiting strategy is the degree to which it neutralizes one of our three top rivals. RR's wanderlust created an opening for
MSU. Now Sparty is screwed.
Ron Thompson is probably wondering what just happen... I think with Funchess and Williams commiting it should help expedite Thompson's decision. He doesn't have the luxury to drag his feet anymore... Either way I think we take Thompson if he commits because I believe he has the better hands of the group.
GO BLUE!
All Hail Hoke! I've seen Funchess play in person once, and I've seen a lot of film on him. Great player, Harrison trio here we come
Personally, I hope the rest of the class finishes out something like 5 OL, 4 LB, 3 TEs, 1 RB, 1 QB, 1 WR, 2 DTs, 2 DEs, 1 DB
We have some flexibility with 5th year Seniors and such, if we had more room I would bring in another DB or two. Just my ideas.
Breakdown of who I want:
OL- Ben Braden, Caleb Stacey, Jordan Diamond, 2 others
LB- Royce, Ross, Ringer, Bolden
TE- Funchess, Williams, Thompson
RB- Keith Marshall or Wes Brown
WR- Anyone but Stefon Diggs would be who I want, package him with Wes Brown at RB and we've got ourselves two phenomenal players and a new pipeline
QB- Robert Gregory (Should bring in Diamond with him)
DT- Godin, O'Brien
DE- Wormley, Mario Ojemudia
DB-Terry Richardson
