Noticed this today at the game seeing him run out of the tunnel. Smith has changed from #4 to #32.
Didn't some guy wear #32 here once that played RB?
UM running back and procreator of Braylon.
Isn't this just a move so he can play special teams at the same time as Cam Gordon?
That would make a lot of sense.
I mean, the other #32 is a RS FR from Plymouth HS who has apparently never seen the field. It has nothing to do with Anthony Thomas, and everything to do with getting bodies on the field who can team up to tackle people.
Said nothing about him changing his number for Anthony Thomas.
Ironic a bruising RB is wearing that number though.
So "Didn't some guy wear #32 here once that played RB? " What was that except a thinly-veiled attempt to show you know who Anthony Thomas was?
How is it ironic?
And he's bruised his way for about ten yards in mop-up time against CMU.
Are you also upset that Shane Morris hasn't gotten enough playing time? :(
I'm going to be brutally honest, my awareness of this kid pretty much begins and ends at the fact that he changed his number today.
If he did switch numbers so he could play on special teams with Cam Gordon, that is a nice number to have for a RB. Plenty of numbers he could have chose.
I noticed that too!
looks good. hopefully it stays, better yet, hopefully he can start getting some carries and not just be on the field the same time as Cam Gordon.
Should have gotten some today if things were going the way they were in the second half, earlier on.
And the previous game, and the game before that....
He's out of a shot for carries the rest off the year?
I wouldn't think so, but a majority of the time that Smith has been in this year has been spent on special teams (from what I have seen), so the purpose of the change was for better coverage, then I can see it because they've already been using in him that capacity.
I could be off there, of course.
my 32 jersey just became much more relevant. I was tired of representing a walk on two players in a row...only to have one of them change their number on me.
the best RB to wear #32 at Michigan was Kevin Dudley.
Wasn't your response a little... uptight?
TBF, most people loathe OP.
It's okay, most people in life do too.
At least you're somewhat self-aware.
I agree. There's a lot of that on this board, in general.
We've seen very little of Smith, and he doesn't appear to run at all like the A-Train.
So, let me see if I get this....
Player jersey number changes happening in abundance over the years is so that players can be on the field at the same time?
This obviously reeks of Dave Brandon.
Does it really matter?
