Detroit News Lists Their Top 10 In-State HS Basketball Players

Carlton Brundidge checks in at #8.

Carlton Brundidge, Southfield, 6-0, sr.: A point guard who can score, Brundidge put up 44 in a game last season. He led Southfield to the Class A semifinals by averaging 24.5 points and he made 80 percent of his free throws. "It's his maturity that sets him apart," coach Gary Teasley said. Brundidge signed with Michigan.

 http://detnews.com/article/20101206/SPORTS05/12060345/Amir-Williams-steps-up-as-The-Detroit-News’-top-player#ixzz17MKwHCJC

As you can see, Amir Williams is #1...sigh.

And very senior dominated, as would be expected, but usually the State has a couple of really highly regarded juniors who are up there.  It doesn't seem to be the case this year.

but to claim that big time schools went after him is absurd.  Sure OSU and Florida are good basketball programs but there are other top programs like Duke, Kansas didn't go after them despite Amir's claiming that he has an offer from them.

I've seen Amir Williams play and he does not play like the best player in the state of Michigan.  I've seen better HS basketball players like Carlton Brundidge, Tommy McCune, Jalen Reynolds, Dwaun Anderson, and to name a few.  Their rankings are based on college potential moreso than high school production.

Amir would score 20 points in one game and then score like 5 points in the next game.  He struggled against smaller players guarding him which doesn't scream #1 player in teh state of Michigan to me.

The Zeigler family is a tight-knit group, according to those who know them well. Zeigler’s wife, Seantelle, and daughter, Skylar, who enters high school next year, attend as many of Ernie’s and Trey’s games as possible. His grandmother resides in the Mount Pleasant area as well.

Saw Brundidge and Trey Burke not too long ago at Pizza House with Beilein and co. and he is a legit six feet (maybe a scosh taller actually). Burke on the other hand was shorter and thinner than Brundidge but is listed at 6'1". I don't know what that means but Brundidge did look stout enough to come in right away and throw his body around. For some reason these two makes me think of Mike James and Lindsey Hunter when they were on the Pistons together. I also think by the end of his senior year Brundidge will jump over a bunch of the guys in front of him on this ranking...what a joke.

Next to the PSL i think the Catholic League is definetly back in basketball and is the 2nd best league in Michigan. DeLa Salle has the potential to win a state championship while U of D will have the most talented team with Fowler and Jenkins. I still think CC will be the sleeper, they're young and very talented, Kyle Cooper would be a dream in Michigan's offense, he's like Smotrycz 2.0 and is very underrated. If you have a chance to watch CC or U of D this year, there is easily 3 potential M targets as juniors.

2,316 Passing Yards

1,643 Rushing Yards

3,959 Total Yards 30 Touchdowns

41 Total Yards until 4,000!! Bowl Game will break it
