Derryck Thornton (MBB Recruit) to Reclassify to 2015?
Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog is reporting that Louisville has offered 5* PG Derryck Thornton, a Michigan basketball target for the c/o 2016, as a 2015 prospect. According to Zagoria, Thornton's father has said that it's unlikely he would re-classify, but the family is considering the possibility. If Thornton does indeed re-classify to 2015, it may help Michigan's chances. Michigan and Duke are the top two teams for Thornton right now, based on 247's Crystal Ball tool. Thornton may have some hesitation about committing to Duke before he knows whether or not stud freshman PG Tyus Jones will leave for the NBA. Same goes for Louisville and Terry Rozier. Although UofM has their own incumbent at the PG spot, Beilein has played two PGs for long stretches of time this year, an idea that may be attractive to Thornton.

Thornton has been quoted as saying that it will really come down to the Harbaugh decision. This is really getting out of control now.

Thornton would be more likely to commit once he has the IMEI # from the iPad he will be provided.

He's in luck bc I'm pretty sure the basketball team uses iPads.

Thats strange because I heard from a very reliable source that it was Thornton that Michigan offered the $48 million cash to at signing....

I'm glad that he's considering our offer, after he initially rebuffed us.

wasn't fully aware of the offer before. I mean, there is only so much hours in the day.

I don't know if his sisters boyfriend wants to leave the Bay Area.

Good tidbit. I'll be interested to hear Sam's take on Michigan's chances if he reclassifies.

It’s Harbaugh 24/7 right about now. Though it’s good to see some other Michigan sports related topics show up again.
I really believe we have to get some of these 5 star kids to reach that next level and PG is so important in college. Thornton could be just what we need.
I hope this season doesn’t cause us to take a step back. We were finally starting to make strides and getting the attention of some top basketball recruits.
Though a program has to keep winning for an extended period of time before kids really consider it one of the top programs.
We have to get it together this year, because we can’t afford a season too disastrous and still expect to compete with teams like Duke for top recruits.

I will treat this as meaningless to MIchigan's chances or bad news for Michigan until there is a press conference announcing his signing.

A top PG can take a team a long way (Burke). Especially a Westbrook type who can score 30 and still dish 8 dimes. Pull the defense out when he has the rock, draw them in when he drives, then
BOOM
Doyle sitting under the rim eating a grilled cheese with one hand dunking the rock with the other.

Any word on if his parents are selling their house and have contacted a real estate agent in Ann Arbor?

I dont think Tyus Jones would have any effect on Thornton... Dukes is starting two PG's right now and being pretty successful. Not to mention how successful previous NCAA championship caliber teams have been winning starting two PG's. Regardless, hope he goes blue no matter what class he is in.

on those trips to Nebraska, Rutgers, and Maryland. Like I said, taking a dump in a Greyhound bus toilet is an experience in luxurious defecation with an iPad in your lap.

247 was the 1st to report this.
UL or Duke if he reclassifies.

So you are saying that Michigan is eliminated if he reclassifies? I don't have any idea why that would be the case but you obviously have a solid source for that so I hope he does not reclassify. Does that mean Battle would reclassify also?

supposedly Pitino is actually the one that suggested reclassification.
Seems like a reclassification now would stronly indicate he may be going there.

Thornton Jr setting up a visit to UL. UL just had a guy transfer Akoy Agau so they now have an open scholarship.
2016 is pivotal.
