Submitted by Paps on

Two great seniors with two fantastic Michigan careers who gave everything they had tonight, and always.

Yep. And as the announcers said, you want Walton with the ball on that final possession. Great seasons, great careers, great gentlemen.

Hope they get picked up by the league or at least have lucrative Euro ball careers if they want to keep playing ball.

Great kids, great leaders.

Walton: 20 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds Irvin: 19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists They both played great games tonight and have brought us home a couple banners and a lot of wins. I will miss them both. I will particularly miss the Crisler PA announcing "Zak IIIRRRVIN for Three!!!"

Irvin showing up when it mattered late in the season and Walton carrying this team when no one else could....those are things that will be missed. They will be missed. As many things as I have admittedly said in the moment about these guys in tough games, theirs will be tough act to follow but hopefully some of their best qualities rub off on the guys that stay.

however, if you think back to the OSU game, i don't know how many expected us to go to the sweet 16 and win the B1G tourney...

gonna miss those guys...but it was a good run and something that will be remembered by the Michigan faithful for a long time

It's absolute bullshit that their careers at Michigan are now over because of shit officiating. Walton barely touches their guy and he's shooting free throws. Walton gets tackled on the other end, and it was crickets. Bad officiating has ruined sports. No point getting emotionally involved when three men in stripes can steal away your team's win.

After this game they just dropped their stock. They showed all their flaws in this game bad. More Mo then Wilson. Wilson Played well but physically he is weak. He doesn't like contact at all. He needs to embrace it and force the other teams to foul him. Mo just was mentally out of it. No confidence in his shot. His shot was way off after he couldn't do.much in the beginning of the game. He let that bother him all game. Oregon is a dam good team unfortunately only reason a 3 seed was they lost Boucher. If he doesnt get hurt we wouldn't have played them. They would have been a 2 seed. Anyways I wish Coach B would recruit guys like Bell ando Boucher. Instead of Jon T. But I hope Jon proves me wrong and ends up a stud but I thought he was a shot blocker and to me he didn't even bother people's shots when they went at him.

watched it again in slow motion - I honestly can't begin to figure out how you don't make that call. The guy was beat and recovered by throwing his body into Walton who was driving. The foul on Walton was the right call if they blew the whistle on Derrick slapping down before what should have been an offensive call if they missed it.

Proud of them but I'm also sad for them, I wanted more for them and it was in their grasp.

But at this juncture, there is only one team that won't end the season with a painful loss.

it is what it is.

Man I wish we got to watch them play a few more games, as much for them as for me. It was a joy to see these dudes break through and get a banner.

Gonna really miss this squad, even Irvin. All year I was saying I couldn't wait until he was gone because I was sick of "hero ball", but he really turned his game around the last month of the year and ended his career here admirably. Thank you to both. This team has a chance to be real good next year if Wilson & Wagner return. Obviously, Simpson won't replace some of the things Walton brings, but I'm still hopeful for the team with Wilson, Wagner, Robinson, MAAR and Charles Matthews. What a great and surprising season. Go Blue.

Irvin really found his game these last few weeks, and Walton....my dear lord, what else is there to say about the kid? Played at an elite level for the last two months. Both guys carried this team on their backs and played like the seniors they are. I feel awful for them that the journey is over, but I hope both of them get looks in the NBA. They deserve it. Thank you for fighting like hell the last four years.

You lead by example. DW showed tremendous leadership. Irvin took on a lesser role when he was struggling, then stepped it up when he came out of his funk. I hope the younger guys paid close attention, because those two put the team above all else. Can't wait to see who takes the torch from these two.

Zak Irvin's transformation was something to behold.

He was freaking great tonight.

For a guy so many couldn't wait to push out there door - and I get it - boy are we going to miss him. He was awesome in this run.

And Derrick - it's heartbreaking to see him go. LEGENDARY run to close his career.

were terrific tonight. Great, great senior leadership.

They can hold their heads high.

Those two guys damn near won it, on a day where pretty much everyone else was a bit off their game.

Really fun team to watch - hoped the magic run would continue. Sigh.

Thanks Derrick and Zak, and congratulations on a great season!

Great games from both of them.  Unfortunately the underclassmen couldn't quite hold up their end.  Oh well, terrific season anyway.

I'm sure it stings bitterly now, but I hope when they reflect back, they'll realize how much they accomplished and how much respect they have from Wolverine Nation.  Thank you, gentlemen.  Thank you

I could not be prouder of those men. I don't think I've been this proud of a Michigan team in a long long time. Maybe the 2011 Sugar Bowl team is a close second. But the resiliency and the run will be something to remember and respect for a long time.

It hurts so see the season end. But it was a dog fight an instantclassic and I think we showed that we can run with anyone in the country. It hurts, but I am so damn proud of these guys. I know it didn't end the way any of us wanted it to. I do hope that we can look back and appreciate how far these young men came these last six weeks.

They both had moments today and kept us in the game. Walton was great and carried the team through a ton of stretches. He deserves an NBA shot. I'm sure some people are criticizing the last shot but it's all I wanted. Our best player with a clean look is everything I wanted just like Burke against KU. Have to live with the results. These seniors never quit.

Going to really miss them both. Great players, and great young men. They definitely deserved a better outcome tonight.

These two guys are great example of of what you want in your student athletes. Bright, hard working competitors who played their asses off! Proud of them! They represented Michigan well.

That's the end of this years story, and what a great story it was. We didn't win a national championship, and ended in a tough close game, but what a team we had this year. So proud of the guys for the hills they climbed to get here. I'll forever be greatful to them for beating Louisville, too.

Gonna miss DW and Zak. They totally looked like the players I thought they would be. Zak played his best game all season and we needed him to today or else the game would have been a double digit win by those fucks.. oh I mean ducks. DW played so dam good since he was called soft he played like he was really capable of playing. Gonna miss them alot next year. Good luck in The NBA guys.
