Derrick Green visiting Auburn this weekend per AU scout site

Submitted by bassmaster on

Not good if true. It would be on his own dime since he's already had his official visit to Auburn. I'd link but it's premium. Don't shoot the messenger.

If anything, this recruitment reminds me of Josh Garnett.  Teased us until the day he chose Stanford.  I still do think Michigan will end up with Green though... Just scary when teams down south get the last word.

Treadwell reminds me of Jordan Diamond.  Had us as a leader throughout the entire time but chose not to commit and kept "enjoying the recruiting process" then ended up committing elsewhere.

During the AA game, he said he needed to visit Auburn and Tennessee again to meet the new coaching staffs. He's already taken his official to Auburn, ergo visiting again "on his own dime" (Read: on a booster's private jet)

But, other programs are gonna bust their humps for top guys like Green.  We have to work hard to get them, and in this environment, at least that hard to keep them.

Auburn, though?  That program is not in a great place, although maybe they sell him on "play now."   Not really something that differentiates them from us.  He will at a minimum be in the mix if he goes Blue.

He said he was going to take tall of his officials cause... Why not, free trip.

Why are you surprised that he's doing exactly what he said he was going to?

I think Auburn fans are currently read the book, 'The Secret". If you think it long enough, and wish for it, it will come true.

We knew he wanted to take additional visits. Those visits had to take place sometime, so the fact that it is this weekend wouldn't seem to make much of a difference.

I think the problem isn't so much that he's going to visit a school that isn't Michigan after he said he already knew where he was going (which is already bad), it's that he's paying for the trip himself. Definitely not good.

My guess is Michigan still leads, but he has liked Auburn in the past and wants to at least the new coaching staff a chance before actually committing. He's just cleaning up any loose ends before finishing the process. Maybe he finds out he likes the coaching staff and goes to Auburn, but I don't think he's making this trip to commit there (he hasn't even met the coaches yet).

If he's going to commit to Michigan, I'd like him to be done looking around.  If he's going to commit to Auburn, he should make sure he's comfortable.  Either way, I hope he has a nice time.  In fact, I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

He said he would. He took officials to Tenn and Auburn, then they got new coaches. I think it's a good idea for him to at least meet them, despite him already knowing where he wants to go.

be swayed by Gus' spread attack, especially as his spread focuses on RB runs outside the tackle - and we're not even considering his favorite play of the jet sweep.

Plus, his OV for the Georgia game had the distinct benefit of showing him 80% of Auburn fans leaving by half.  They are bandwagon fans with a win-at-all-cost mentality.

Never know, but AU shouldn't be our biggest threat.

Gus can change the focus of his spread attack. He focused on RB runs to the outside at Auburn with Newton because Newton was a great between the tackles runner but didn't have elite speed.

Also, Green has really good speed, him attacking the edge isn't too much of an issue.

All that said, I still don't think he wants to play in a spread attack and my guess is Michigan still leads, as I commented above.
