Tennessee is not recruiting well just because they got 18 dudes
Derrick Green Sets Decision Date
This is a pretty good sign for the good guys, IMO.
Cool - 26 is my lucky number, so I think we're good here.
that means absolutely nothing!
(still think/hope DG goes blue)
So this means no more Derrick Green posts until Jan 26, right guys? guys?
You left off an "a". Maybe you were just catching your breath.
You wouldn't like to know what color shirt he's wearing on the 20th. I call a bluff!
I double post without fail on this phone ... looks like I already broke my own "no DG posts" prediction.
This is unfortunate for you.
Damn, you beat me.
Anymore visits before then?
Seems odd to set a date that far out without a reason, like, "I'll be back from such and such visit on 'x' day, so I should be able to make my decision by day 'y'." Then again, 18 y/o minds and recruiting in general seems odd to me.
I hear no more visits for Green
26 is my unlucky number.
26 is neither my lucky nor my unlucky number.
My birthday. Now I really hope its a great day!
I would have guessed March 3rd
My un-birthday, but I still hope its a great day
A very merry unbirthday to you!
Say who he is going to pick on the 26th?
How do we know this isn't just legilimency?
Don't you read? Geesh. http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Legilimency.
identify the post as Derrick Green #136.
What about Devin Gardner (the "original" DG)?
whether I am elated or angry. Time TBD but it should be about 10 seconds after Derrick Greens announcement
4:00:10 then I imagine?
you have to allow for appropriate time to be introduced, thank coaches and your parents, and then time rummaging around to find the correct hat so I'd say it's more likely to be 4:02:10
Staff can devote 90% of energy to him now that LM3 and Laquon are clearly gone. Closing with DD, Delano, Hunt and DG will make this a great foundation class.
The staff can then focus on adding some pure playmakers (CB, WR, RB, FS) in 2014 along with more depth across the board.
College football is not like college football video games, FYI. I'm very sure the staff have many other things to do.
I don't play video games. I have been a GA thru 2 recruiting cycles - January is 90% or thereabouts on recruiting/HS evals focus for everyone but S&C staff.
I take back my comment then. Do staff get to take a little time off after NSD?
"here and there" before spring football planning goes into overdrive and then a little more in the 12 or so weeks before late July.
The changes in NCAA rules, texting, earlier commits, 7-on-7 explosion - the coaches are consumed with recruiting and hardly ever unplug. I would guess the UM staff works 80+ hours every week with home time & vacation regularly interrupted with calls/texts/etc.
The post on 247 was just edited to include 4 PM as the announcement time as well (per Green's Facebook apparently) so there is this as well. Looks like I shall be tuning out at work early that day to be in the accompanying announcement thread.
You'll be glad to find out then that Jan.26 is a Saturday
Unless he works Saturdays.
If Green turns us down, will that create more individual posts and comments than if he commits, or will it be the opposite?
The exact same. If he commits it will be about how awesome he is and who he will be like (a-train) and how Hoke can close. If he doesn't commit posts will be about how D. Smith looked better anyway and why Hoke can't close.
Either way, I will have plenty of posts to read to kill time!
Hoke can't close posts
ABC. A, always; B, be; C, closing. ALWAYS BE CLOSING!
If he turns down. If it's anything like everyone else who has committed it will be news for about 3 days and the greed of who's next will kick in.
Green shows up in a Michigan hat, ready to pick Michigan......only to take off his shirt, reveal an Ohio jersey and proceed to clock Brady Hoke with a steel chair. If that chain of events was to transpire, I'm pretty sure this site would crash and I would never watch college football again. Oh yeah, I suppose Green would have to be arrested for assault too.
Ummmmm....I think I need to stop talking. Maybe I should sit these next couple plays out.
record would definitely make him a Buckeye.
He seems a little too grounded for Option 3. Go Blue.
Well, I won't be surprised if I have lots of trouble accessing this site on the 26th.
Well we are sure to be doomed because on the 26th of January last year, I ate some bad Mexican food and was pulling a Harry Dunn in my bathroom all day. Definitely not a good sign.
Thrown the food straight in the toilet and cut out the middleman
@rivalsmike: Good for #wolverines #Michigan [email protected]_boii27: I have decided to make my college announcement on january 26 at 4:00pm #truly blessed!!
And whenever that happens, I can't help but think it's because of news about Green.
This time it was! And good news nonetheless.
Go Blue Green!
So is it just between us, Auburn, and Tennessee then? I know Miami and FSU were said to be in the mix also. With two weeks until his announcement, Id say this bodes well for us.
If we can get him. The post Mike Hart era has been the longest consecutive stretch of Michigan football I can remember without a top tier RB. I realize we're never going to lead the nation in sub 4.3 DB recruits from Florida, but it seems crazy that we're all on pins and needles just to get a high profile RB at Michigan. Back in the day, landing high end talent at this position was a given.
Thanks again, RichRod!
Well we do already have Smith who is, imo, the forgotten recruit of this class.
Ya, I forgot that they just hands out 4 stars these days. What a chump, guess I should have played, I'm probably better than he is.
So terrible that Ohio offered him early just as we did. If Michigan and ohio offer you before your senior year of high school even starts, chances are you're pretty good at football.
everybody wants to go out and book a Hummersine for this guy.
Wasn't a running back, but you do know a guy just graduated from the program with over 4,000 rushing yards, right? It's not like Michigan has been dying for a way to move the ball on the ground
But it certainly wouldn't have hurt our offense's production during his time here if we had gotten stronger, more consistent play out of the RB position.
For the earlier poster who said we were never running back-U, I humbly submit the following names from my years as a Michigan fan: Butch Woolfolk, Jamie Morris, Tony Boles, Leroy Hoard, Tyrone Wheatley, Tsimanga Biakabatuka, Anthony Thomas, Chris Perry, Mike Hart. All those guys were among the best backs in the Big 10 during their days at Michigan, several played at an All America level and all besides Boles made it to the NFL at some point. From 1979-2007, we never went more than 3 years without having at least one of those guys on the team. Manball obviously requires a big, talented O-Line but you need the good tailback as well. Other than the Fitz 2011 campaign we haven't gotten that type of production out of the RB spot since 2007. By Michigan standards, that's way too long.
Is DG taking his last two officials, and if so when would these be? Since the 26th falls on a Saturday he could be committing hours after an official.
are this weekend and the next.
Per his family, he is taking this weekend off after last weeks trip to San Antonio.
Really looking forward to his decision. Haven't been this excited for a possible Mich commit in a very long time.
But I just read a great series of quotes from Derrick Green's mother about the complete falsehoods some Auburn insiders have been spewing about her supposedly wanting her son to go to Auburn over any others.
Will have to pick out a new Jersey if he gets a 5th year
Ann Arbor = A2
Devin Gardner = DG
Derrick Green = DG
DG + DG = DG2
DG2 = A2
Thereore, Derrick Green WILL commit to MICHIGAN
