Derrick Green reaffirms Michigan as his leader
Per Mike Farrell in this video: LINK
He also says he's not even sure who is contending with Michigan right now. I haven't done more than exchange one word texts with Derrick pretty much since his official visit, but it shouldn't be a surprise they're leading.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.

Rabbit, I'll bet you're the kind of guy that turns off the TV and says the season is over if the other team gets a FG on its opening drive. Repeat after me, "My cup is half FULL!! My cup is half FULL!!" Say it enough and maybe someday your cup will runneth over.

this kind of news

A running back with his skill sets and our future offensive line could be one powerfull threat.

Great news, but for some reason, a part of me thinks Green is waiting for another school to really impress him so he has an excuse to go elsewhere. Michigan seems like it has always been the logical #1 choice, but his heart seems to be in the south.
December 31st, 2012 at 3:20 AM ^
I feel as if there are contributing factors (family, weather, familiarity) that could hold Green's interest, but he has continued to debunk your trepidations, don't you think? See the glass as half full these days; you don't REALLY know where his heart lies.

#1 RB in the country. I doubt there is a team he is waiting for. Quite the opposite I would guess.

If Dymonte enlists some help from Shane, I'm thinking that increases our chances significantly.

I'm with ya. I just have an uneasy feeling from his interviews, but I'm always pessimisstic.

Are "one word text"s possibly "leave me alone texts? I'm prepared to feel the wrath of a thousand bloggers by typing/posting that, but just a legitimate query.
December 31st, 2012 at 6:14 AM ^
That's what I was thinking. You gotta think he's sick of being bugged by so many people. Usually when I text a one word answer it is code for leave me the hell alone.
December 31st, 2012 at 6:51 AM ^
He could make it all go away (by committing).
December 31st, 2012 at 9:05 AM ^
December 31st, 2012 at 9:16 AM ^
He shouldn't have to make it all go away. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry shouldn't be pestering him about his decision. The NCAA says he has several more months to make his decision, and the earliest he can make it is the first week of February. That ought to be good enough.
I'm as interested in recruiting as anyone, but I really don't care WHEN these kids make their decisions. Although I guess I prefer that they don't make them all at the same time, because those commitment posts get painful for the wrists...

Wait...isn't Mike Farrel the one who is usually wrong about everything? Fuck.
December 31st, 2012 at 10:40 AM ^
If his info is anti-Michigan, then he has never been right in his life and there is no reason to even post anything from him.
That is my understanding, hope this helps.
So in this case it is good news, so he is correct.

All it says is that DG (NNTDG) is looking for a reason to go somewhere other than Michigan and there's a month for him to find it. So don't count on him going Blue...

I'm 50-50 this will happen. Treadwell was a lock and seemed like a no-brainer for him. We all know how that has played out.
December 31st, 2012 at 10:40 AM ^
Yeah, but Treadwell's interest in Michigan was early, and diminished the more he visited other schools. Green's interest in Michigan was pretty mild and increased the more visits he took (to Michigan and other schools). If anything, Green was supposedly a lock to Auburn at one point.
December 31st, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
Treadwell was never a lock. It was pretty clear to me - and others - that he was going to be a difficult pull. Great high school receivers don't generally like to go to schools that don't throw the ball so good.

Let's do something special these next four years
December 31st, 2012 at 10:19 AM ^
UF and FSU, plus LSU, perhaps. Has anybody heard anything on that?
It has to be the weather.
December 31st, 2012 at 10:20 AM ^
I hope he commits to Michigan. I'm sick of striking out on top caliber running backs at the last minute for the last 5 years.

I think he ends up in this class. Just becuase the kid doesn't tweet #GoBlue! every other tweet doesn't mean he doesn't really want to go to Michigan and keeps looking for a reason to go elsewhere. He sounds to me like a kid who's trying to not make an emotional decision, but a rational one based on playing time and program mix that gives him the best shot at making it to the NFL and where he feels comfortable being. Every recruiting expert seems to agree that Michigan makes the most sense for him based on his own stated factors, and Green has named Michigan his leader and said there really isn't a number 2.
Now, It's true that emotion can trump rational decision making, but up to now Green hasn't seemed to have that emotional connection to any program that would make him throw his rational process out the window. This definitely includes Michigan (or he would have committed already), but as others have said, it also includes all the other programs he's seen. I just don't see any other school really generating that emotion, so when all is said and done, I think he goes blue.

seems this comes out like 3 times a week. At this point, its no longer news unless he names someone else as leader OR actually commits.
December 31st, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
Just a couple of months ago, LaQuon Treadwell was thought to be a shoe-in and Green was thought to be a longshot. How things change.
December 31st, 2012 at 4:59 PM ^
I know, now we're getting both of them!
