Derrick Green reaffirms Michigan as his leader

He also says he's not even sure who is contending with Michigan right now. I haven't done more than exchange one word texts with Derrick pretty much since his official visit, but it shouldn't be a surprise they're leading.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.

Great news, but for some reason, a part of me thinks Green is waiting for another school  to really impress him so he has an excuse to go elsewhere.  Michigan seems like it has always been the logical #1 choice, but his heart seems to be in the south.

I feel as if there are contributing factors (family, weather, familiarity) that could hold Green's interest, but he has continued to debunk your trepidations, don't you think? See the glass as half full these days; you don't REALLY know where his heart lies.

I have never been recruited by D 1 schools but to me if a player really likes the campus, academics, other players attending the school, and are pretty much going to start when they walk on campus but does not commit, I'd say there is something holding him back, he is more than likely waiting for someone to offer late. This will get marked as me being negative or trolling, but something isn't connecting between Michigan and Derrick Green, at this point if he commits, I hope it is on NSD so he can't flip, I will be shocked if he is Blue in the end.

Must be full on RB's. We are his leader now and that isn't a bad thing, I just have a weird feeling. If he likes everything about Michigan, something is holding him back, it is well known that the South is a bit more comforting to him, I hope Dymonte can help reel him in.

Just because he hasn't jumped on the Wolverine Wagon from day one doesn't mean his heart is elsewhere or he's looking for a cop-out. If he commits to UM late it doesn't mean his heart won't be in it. You bet he'll be playing his butt off for four years regardless of where he plays so he can make that paycheck at the next level. I think Green wont surprise and will go blue.

I am the same way. Every logical scenario makes me think he ends up here but I always think the worst in life and am just happily surprised when wrong so I still don't see him coming here. Though, I think it's more to do with last minute mega misses the last few years than anything. I think my last late/NSD "wow" commit was Warren. Always thought we miss on all 3 of our last "big 3" but, again, that is not so much to be a downer than how CFB seems to have been lately. Many unlogical choices when you consider that teams like ND pull top kids (admittedly with little result until this year) from Cali, FL, etc when they hadn't done anything in 20 years and we can't seem to pull a true top HB to save our lives the last decade. Huge WR drought lately, etc. It makes sense but I'll assume he falls in love with Miami or something until he signs, lol. I'm a complete assclown like that.

Would start my year off like no other. If we get those 2 I am willing to bet that our boy Treadwell will take note. And having Shane throwing him the ball this week in the Under Armour game will definitely help.

Come on Green and LMIII lets do this for sure!!!!

Are "one word text"s possibly "leave me alone texts?  I'm prepared to feel the wrath of a thousand bloggers by typing/posting that, but just a legitimate query.

He shouldn't have to make it all go away.  Every Tom, Dick, and Harry shouldn't be pestering him about his decision.  The NCAA says he has several more months to make his decision, and the earliest he can make it is the first week of February.  That ought to be good enough.

I'm as interested in recruiting as anyone, but I really don't care WHEN these kids make their decisions.  Although I guess I prefer that they don't make them all at the same time, because those commitment posts get painful for the wrists...

If his info is pro-Michigan, then we believe him and are all happy.

If his info is anti-Michigan, then he has never been right in his life and there is no reason to even post anything from him.

That is my understanding, hope this helps.

So in this case it is good news, so he is correct.

All it says is that DG (NNTDG) is looking for a reason to go somewhere other than Michigan and there's a month for him to find it.  So don't count on him going Blue...

I'm 50-50 this will happen.  Treadwell was a lock and seemed like a no-brainer for him. We all know how that has played out.

I think he ends up in this class. Just becuase the kid doesn't tweet #GoBlue! every other tweet doesn't mean he doesn't really want to go to Michigan and keeps looking for a reason to go elsewhere. He sounds to me like a kid who's trying to not make an emotional decision, but a rational one based on playing time and program mix that gives him the best shot at making it to the NFL and where he feels comfortable being. Every recruiting expert seems to agree that Michigan makes the most sense for him based on his own stated factors, and Green has named Michigan his leader and said there really isn't a number 2.

Now, It's true that emotion can trump rational decision making, but up to now Green hasn't seemed to have that emotional connection to any program that would make him throw his rational process out the window. This definitely includes Michigan (or he would have committed already), but as others have said, it also includes all the other programs he's seen. I just don't see any other school really generating that emotion, so when all is said and done, I think he goes blue.

anything can happen, but all of his other supposed "favorites" have major factors going against them. tennessee and auburn have new coaches and are going more spread/passing attack. miami is going to get hit hard with sanctions, not to mention their stadium is barely ever more than half full. he also doesn't seem like his style would be well-suited for oregon. he seems like he'd be too north-south running style for them. i think, as far as green as green is concerned, the only knock on michigan is that its not the south.
