Derrick Green Q&A (24/7 VIP)
I figured most people would enjoy this on a slow day. With all of the excitement in 2014 recruiting, it's easy to forget about the guys that have already signed. You guys remember we have the #1 running back of 2013 coming in next week right?

Hearing 21 year olds talk about their childhood like it was some distant memory is what's weird....
A 50 year old would say that 30 year olds do not have the right to wax nostaligic about their childhood. Hell, when I was in high school I used to reminisce about junior high. It's all relative.
I was Howard or AC. What would be weird is if I still did it at 37. 21? Not "The Room" weird but definitely closing in on it.
"Old" and "back in the day" is always a moving target and I'm pretty sure most of those comments were tongue in cheeck anyway. I remember when I was young (in my teens) and I thought 40+ was old and back in the day was when I was 12....
At nearly 40 now things have shifted and old is 90+ and back in the day was still when I was 12. Time is a moving target and is different for everyone. Honestly, at 39 now I still feel like I did when I was much younger and I finally understand the phrase "you're only as old as you feel".
Anyway, that was all just an aside to telling you I think they were all just playing with you. Don't shut up just for that.
A good beer comment is always welcome in my book.
for 4 hours at a time 7 days a week. That is very impressive. He'll be the starter
More importantly, there will soon come a time when Derrick Green stops burning fat and starts burning every dude on the field on his way to the end zone. MOAR MUSCLEZ.
There is a point at which you stop burning fat, but you don't burn muscle. You start burning your sugar stores but muscle can't be "burnt". It can become fatigued, strained, sprained, torn....many things, but it doesn't burn from overuse.
Your main point does stand though...working out that long and hard every day of the week could very well do more harm than good in some situations.
edit: I just wanted to point out that I didn't neg you either, as I see someone did for some reason. Nothing neg worthy about your post.
I seriously doubt he's lifting for 4 hours straight every day. It's probably just total time spent on physical fitness and includes stretching, cardio, plyo, resistance bands, etc. If he were nailing punching bags or running through dong forests and tackle dummies 4 hours a day, it would be different and he would be dead.
The dude has (at least) 2 personal trainers, and on top of that I'm sure he's talked to Wellman, etc about his routine. They're all more than qualitfied and know not to work him out to the point of injury.
One of the things that distinguishes 5-stars who turn out to be busts from 5-stars who live up to the hype is work ethic. The former are used to getting by on talent alone in high school and fail at the next level because they can't adjust when the level of competition goes up. Time will tell whether Green will live up to his 5-star billing, but it's clear that work ethic won't be an issue with him.
