Kugler is being recruited as a center.

Pipkins is strictly a NT

Either Godin or Wormley to SDE (the other to 3 tech as you have it)

Morgan may move to MLB (Ringer more of a WLB?)

Mike Jones unlikely to get a 5th year

Not sure Conley is stout enough for boundary corner - maybe Douglas?

1. I've heard that, but I've heard the same about Dawson. Seems like one will play OG the other will play C. I'm not going to lose sleep, we thought Barnum was starting at C until we realized it was Mealer halfway through the first drive of the year.

2. Not sure I agree if Washington is also on the field as the returning starter...

3. Neither is...Wormley was playing 3-Tech/DT when he went down and that's what Godin has been. This one is correct.

4. I agree with this, I think Ross is going to take over at WLB. I could see Morgan being the backup LB at all 3 spots for his career.

5. I agree with this too, but if I take him off, I get negged for kicking a kid off the team, even though this is the internet...I know, crazy

6. At his size, Conley better be.

Is it just me or if you squint a little bit does it look like the defense has the potential to be really good next year?

That will be the key...

Can Marvin Robinson step up? Can Pipkins take over for Campbell?

If those are "yes"...our defense is pretty solid. If we can get Henry or Ash to be "legit" to give us a 3rd big man in the middle. Look out.

Wormley wasn't going to redshirt, he was going to see time in the RVB/Heininger DT/SDE role (he was practicing at DT when he was hurt).

We've got some decent speed off the edge, Black should be able to take over for Roh, and the LBs finally have depth.

My hunch on filling Kovacs position will either be Marvin Robinson if he is really good or that Thomas Gordon will slide over and Jarrod Wilson will take Gordon's spot.  Also, Dymonte Thomas is so good that I suspect he will play some even though it seems like we could get away with redshirting him.

I see the safeties as a definite strength.

At DT/SDE, someone from Godin (my guess), Wormley, Heitzman, Brink (?) or Ash (DT) will step up.  If it's Ash at DT, then Black will be our SDE.  If Washington, Pipkins, Black and Clark are our best 4, I think they'll start against running teams/downs.  Black will move inside against passing teams/downs with Ryan or Ojemudia or Beyer playing SDE.

I see our only weakness/non-strength next year as our second corner.  Blake Countess should be good at one corner (field or boundary) and Taylor/Jourdan Lewis/Richardson/Avery/Conley/Stribling will be ok but not great at the other CB.  By 2014, our CBs will be good to excellent.

Next year, I think our LBs and DL will be excellent against the run.  My concern is our DL won't generate a lot of pass rush and our CBs will be ok but not great and teams will make some gains passing against us.  In 2014, I think our defense will be excellent all around.

Truly believe that next year we are out of the spread for good. I think its Bellomy's job to lose and to lose it to Shane as Devin is, IMHO, now a full time WR as I predicted the day Shane Committed. That said, I dont see Shane beating him out unless he comes in with Henson like grasp but he lacks that, IMO. So, Shane Redshirts. However.....depending on if and when and injury happens, Shane will be called in or Devin will be as, again, spred is GONE after Denard leaves. If only a few games left and Bellomy goes down, its Gardner. If it's weeks 1-5, Shane comes in. Just my opinion. We'll still be crazy small/young and such at WR next year outside Devin.

That said, unless Lewan comes back, we'll be a passing offense as the line wont be "manball caliber" for another 2 year at best.

If Devin is at WR, Shane redshirts, and Bellomy is the starter, who is backup? Bellomy is not proven enough to go with a walk on at backup QB. I think both Gardner and Bellomy get reps at QB to see who is better. Only what Gardner is a full time WR is if The coaches are comfortable with Shane starting. Likely not, since he's going to miss his senior year and not enroll early.

kind of my point as the loser of that competition (Gardner, IMHO) will be the backup but Gardner is special in that he gives us options. Again, without injury, Devin is full time WR and Shane is the technical backup. If injury happens early, I really think they pop Morris in there and I agree that would be a bad move. If injury happens late, its Devin.

Thanks for doing this.  It's pretty amazing that Russell Bellomy could be a three-year starter at QB for some very good Michigan teams (though it's probably equally likely that he never starts).  I don't think many of us expected that when he signed.

Shane was very smart to commit early.  He committed early enough that we skipped out entirely on 2012 QBs, either because they didn't want to compete with Shane or our coaches didn't feel the need to get someone else.  I hope that doesn't burn us, but I'm probably in the "always take at least one QB" camp.

Especially helpful to have a center whose dad is an NFL offensive line coach. I would hope his football IQ is pretty high.

Wall O' Text incoming!

Mags, LTT, and Bosch all have the potential to be elite OT (especially Bosch, I think he is going to be a Hutch-level type lineman here).  Our OL is going to be NASTY once these guys get on campus and have a chance to gel.  That (and the fact that we already have Deveon in the fold) is the reason I'm not sweating D. Green's decision.

As far as our DL is concerned I love what Hoke has done with recruiting.  He may not have gotten the elite 5* players necessarily (not to take anything away from the quality of player we have gotten) but we have gotten some very talented and versatile guys.  Wormley, Strobel, Poggi, Mario (once he bulks up some more), Godin, and maybe even Taco can all play all across the line to keep bodies fresh and give teams different looks.  If we continue to recruit like this, and I see no reason why we wouldn't, I don't think we necesarily need "A couple big time DEs"...whatever that means.  I have no argument with you on the QB's and BIG DT's (even though I think PeeWee is obviously a good start and I hope Willie Henry can turn into a solid rotational player).

The thing I'm the most worried about is playmakers.  Guys that can go the distance on any given play or that you can get the ball to in space and let them work.  I love that we're going back to bigger WR's and RB's that can grind out tough yards but we still need to focus on getting some more players like Gallon and the rest of the Slot Ninja Brigade.  Norfleet and Hayes have the potential to fill that role so I guess we'll see.  I'm very excited to see what this team looks like in a couple years and I know it's been said thousands of time but the way this staff is recruiting has totally blown me away and has gotten me more excited for Michigan Football than at any point in my life that I can remember
