I trust the coaches. So what if I had dreams in April of some players being starters in August. Last year was a cluster[- - - -], and I haven't captured but a scant few hyperbolic words and clips of the team since. Glasgow has been routinely mentioned as a coach favorite, has the size, and is described as a "technician." I believe this. And hope he brings it.

I really hope he Kovacses every last one of his doubters (by which I mean 98% of this board).

In the same vein, everytime week talk about the week 2 OL, it is oft assumed that Glasgow's re-intercalation will rearrange the line and push Mags back to LT and Cole to the bench. I don't think we're going to see it happen that way. Get used to watching Cole. He's likely here for the long haul. Which isn't yet confidence instilling, but is certainly highly exciting.

Lewis has looked good, and I think his ceiling is higher than Taylor, but Taylor is much more consistent right now, which means a lot if they are running Cover 1. Lewis is very grabby with his hands and inconsistent with where and how he leverages at the point of attack off the LOS (getting him beat and thus forcing him to grab and hold). Mattison and Co. don't want teams picking up first downs because of bad D holding and PI. They'll still rotate, but I expect Taylor to be the guy to start.

If Lewis is not a starter on Saturday it's a smack right in the kids face. I don't care how much they platoon.

I hope you are related to Lewis only way this makes sense.  Backing up a returning starter who is a senior that led the team in tackles and was second in INT's is hardly a slap in the face.  Lewis may be more talented but to take a job from a senior who was a solid player isn't going to be easy, nor should it.  He may have to earn that on the field, like during games, which he hasn't yet.

Walk-on RS Soph. Hoke mentioned him as playing well in one of the pressers:

If Jabrill is at corner than who's your guy at nickel and what about Jeremy Clark? Looked like he was out there first.

"Jeremy Clark's really had a good fall camp, you know, really excited about his progress. Delano's [Hill] out there with a vest on for no contact and he did some of the [inaudible]. AJ Pearson, I think, has really improved. What was the first part of it?"

and loathing towards any mention of walk-ons rising up and fighting their way on to the field/depth chart.

Any kid that legitimately does so (and I don't doubt that the Glasgow Bros., Pearson, Dever have earned their way to where they're now listed)  has my unending admiration.  And I'm not saying this just because it's a great "story".

Jordon Kovacs got an opportunity at Michigan and made the best of it.  And right now, the Michigan walk-ons who are doing the work and in the process of making a name for themselves?  Great for them---and Great for Michigan!!!

I think the rotation on the inside is so heavy that starter is a nominal designation.  Sure it is good to start, but I think we have a lot of good options to get PT.  Also, what TheDirtyD said about Pipkins recovery.

Likely both playing the X-receiver, but they'll rotate all those guys based on situations and things. Likely, Chesson will be used more to stretch the field vertically across from Funchess, allowing Funchess to work underneath or over the top with the safeties having to occupy Chesson as well (same can be said with Canteen). So it's likely to allow more freedome for Funchess and the slot.

Darboh will still be used, and can still stretch the field a bit, but expect him to be more of a possession guy, particularly used as an inverted slot or if they are trying to get the quick passing game going.

I think we'll see a lot of three and four receiver sets out of this team. Expect to see Funchess, Chesson, Darbor and Norfleet/Canteen on the field a lot together. I expect for this to be more the case if the O-line can do its job without relying on 2 TEs before Butt gets back.

AJ Pearson = Jordan Kovacs?

For real though...I know Delano Hill is out right now, but I still am very nervous about our safety depth. Still don't understand why we stopped recruiting Montae last year.

Wow so Kalis couldn't take the starting spot from Burzynski? I mean, I know he's young and all but he's been in the program 3 years right? Here is to hoping he doesn't turn into the OLines version of will Campbell

when someone misses the myriad of speculation and discussion on the board.  I think as a rule many people on this board need not puff themselves up by putting someone else down when that person missed some piece of news that others know.

We're all in this together.

Hurst doesn't get an "OR" mention somewhere on the chart.

Geddeon is listed under WLB, whch then gives McCray some room under MLB.

No Delano Hill sighting, which I speculate means he isn't cleared to play this weekend.

Justice Hayes is a kickreturner.  I guess I hadn't noticed that he was going to be there.

Good for Terry R fighting his way to the 2nd team.

The reactions to Ryan Glasgow possibly starting are pretty amusing.  Reminds me of when everyone hoped Marvin Robinson would beat out walk-on sophomore Jordan Kovacs at S and last year when everyone hoped someone, anyone, would beat out walk-on OL Graham Glasgow.

If (big if) Glasgow is really performing better than the other NT's I view that as a positive.  He is reportedly one of the strongest players on the team and has plenty of size to play the position. He didn't have a great year last year, as a RS freshman, but he can improve as freshman often do.

This is NOT the depth chart for Saturday.  Says "as of 8/25" which might as well say "since the end of fall camp".

Hoke's already said Bosch is at LG, and Kalis is getting good reps at RG and battling Joey (Sam Webb thinks Kalis will start regardless).  Prediction: When Glassgow returns he will take over at LG (unless Miller sucks it up) and Mags bumps out to LT.

So...yeah...this chart may change 10 times by Saturday.

Sure, but they could also wish to RS Cole if at all possible.

Regardless, if everyone in the group takes a step forward in development, and there really is no reason why since the OC and OL coach now share the same philosophy, this OL group should be deep and good sopefully sooner rather than later.
