Agreed, Gruden's style rubs some people the wrong way and I get that, but you gotta give the guy credit for knowing his football and doing his research before the game, unlike a lot in the profession. He was spot on in most of his analysis pretty much all game.

He's about as "pro-Michigan" as you get outside of Desmond. He lives in Ann Arbor, and was very unbiased when it came to the call on the play where Michigan was short of the 1st down and was awarded it anyway. Of course, Clowney rocked Doobie on the next play and forced the fumble. In any event, he was professional and definately knows his stuff. If you dislike him, that's a "you" problem. Go to hell!

Great broadcasting, guys... if they weren't too busy cheering for SC they would have noticed.  He broke the record with 8 minutes left and nothing...

Michigan senior Denard Robinson ran into the record books in his final college game, and is now the NCAA's all-time leading rusher at the QB position. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter In his last game at the college level, Michigan senior Denard Robinson used a 9-yard run late in the 2013 Outback Bowl to officially claim the NCAA all-time quarterback rushing record on Tuesday afternoon. Despite missing two games due to injury during the regular season, Robinson entered his final game against South Carolina needing just 85 yards rushing to break former West Virginia quarterback Pat White's all-time mark of 4,493 yards. And after a number of carries from both the quarterback and running back spots early in the contest, it was only fitting that the 6'0 speedster was given the opportunity to etch his name in the record books before graduating school. Even though Robinson has been featured almost exclusively at running back in recent weeks, the fact that he is still listed at quarterback and also takes a handful of direct snaps ensures that all of his rushing statistics are registered from the quarterback spot. In addition to his rushing record, Robinson also racked up 6,250 yards passing with 49 touchdowns over his four-year career.

I believe the rule has always been that it goes by listed position, not necessarily where you are listed on the depth chart week-to-week (I can't imagine making sense of it any other way). I couldn't find an official depth chart for the bowl, but even post-injury this season, Robinson was always on the depth chart as a QB.

I am glad to see him get it.

Carolina had just a little too much for our guys today, especially without our best DBs, but they held their own, and Team 134 will build on the legacy of these seniors.

but just being part of a championship team doesn't make one a champion. Nor does being on subpar teams make one a failure if he left everything on the field.

But let's nit pick and call him out for being a real champion after he stayed (along with his fellow seniors and last year''s seniors), bought into Hoke's program, and didn't bitch once about Borges or Hoke not using him properly like so many in the fanbase have.

When Hoke is bringing home championships in the future, those will belong to the seniors of team 132 and 133 as much as they do the coaching staff.

So maybe I'm too kind to Denard, and maybe he's just a champion in our hearts, but he has helped lay a foundation for future championships...and they will come.

Agreed. My comment was not to knock Denard for something the team has not accomplished. Those of us fortunate to have watched his career will remember him for all of the great things he has done for the team and the university. I hope Hoke and the players he is bringing in can get back to a level where great players don't leave without a championship.

I thought that the broadcasters gave us a lot of credit like where they talked about Denard being one of the most exciting players to play the game and Mattison being one of the best defensive minds.

I hope he gets it.

Rothstein is reporting it as official in this link.

And the Detroit News:

"Denard Robinson, Michigan's senior quarterback, gained 100 yards rushing and leaves Michigan as the NCAA's all-time career rushing leader as a quarterback. He entered the game with 4,395 rushing yards and needing 86 yards to pass former West Virginia quarterback Pat White."

Denard showed a LOT of toughness today. I was thoroughly impressed, and he definitely gave NFL scouts something to think about. We didn't get the win, but I guess this is a nice silver lining.

Impressed by Denard today, even though he missed some shots where he cutback and missed some HUGE yardage..

Too bad our secondary was fucking AWFUL today
