Niko Porikos grew up in an NTDP billet home. Cool story.
I was surprised they never mentioned it. How much did he get it by?
He needed 86, ended with 100
they never surprise me.
Tirico was too busy fawning over Clowney and rooting for USC.
i thought the announcers today were decent. normally i can't stand gruden, but he was tolerable for most of the game. i recall him calling the defense the 'wolves' (short for wolverines??) and a 'what do you call them? maize and blue...' pretty lame.
Agreed, Gruden's style rubs some people the wrong way and I get that, but you gotta give the guy credit for knowing his football and doing his research before the game, unlike a lot in the profession. He was spot on in most of his analysis pretty much all game.
Tirico and Gruden were not biased. They have no reason to be, and they fawned over Clowney because he is unbelievable. They said plenty of good things about Lewan, Gardner and Robinson.
...and even Borgess.
He did a fantastic job describing our players whenever they got involved.
Late in the game Gruden said "The Victors" gave him the goosebumps everytime he heard it. I agree with him.
except when he called SCar the Carolina Panthers, anyway
Damn double post. Did I mention that I dislike Tirico?
I was with you until the last two sentences. You've got to stop with the personal attacks.
To a great kid, student, athlete, and HUMAN BEING!
True Michigan Man. Very proud to be a Wolverine, with young men like him representing us!
Great broadcasting, guys... if they weren't too busy cheering for SC they would have noticed. He broke the record with 8 minutes left and nothing...
Yay for Denard!!!
This question has been answered more than once.
can't be asked again. There are no dumb questions, as the good profs say.
I believe the rule has always been that it goes by listed position, not necessarily where you are listed on the depth chart week-to-week (I can't imagine making sense of it any other way). I couldn't find an official depth chart for the bowl, but even post-injury this season, Robinson was always on the depth chart as a QB.
Was it ever mentioned or since one of the SEC guys didn't get it wasn't worth talking about.
Michigan also broke the record for longest streak without getting shut out
Gonna miss seeing that guy in maize and blue. Great job Denard. Good luck in the NFL and beyond.
I am glad to see him get it.
Carolina had just a little too much for our guys today, especially without our best DBs, but they held their own, and Team 134 will build on the legacy of these seniors.
He stayed. He is a champion. He will be missed.
I have really enjoyed watching Denard but the only championship Denard can claim is Sugar Bowl Champion. Unless you want to count being champion in many fan's hearts.
but just being part of a championship team doesn't make one a champion. Nor does being on subpar teams make one a failure if he left everything on the field.
But let's nit pick and call him out for being a real champion after he stayed (along with his fellow seniors and last year''s seniors), bought into Hoke's program, and didn't bitch once about Borges or Hoke not using him properly like so many in the fanbase have.
When Hoke is bringing home championships in the future, those will belong to the seniors of team 132 and 133 as much as they do the coaching staff.
So maybe I'm too kind to Denard, and maybe he's just a champion in our hearts, but he has helped lay a foundation for future championships...and they will come.
Agreed. My comment was not to knock Denard for something the team has not accomplished. Those of us fortunate to have watched his career will remember him for all of the great things he has done for the team and the university. I hope Hoke and the players he is bringing in can get back to a level where great players don't leave without a championship.
Sorry if I misread your comment. I too hope Hoke brings our team back to the promised land.
I thought that the broadcasters gave us a lot of credit like where they talked about Denard being one of the most exciting players to play the game and Mattison being one of the best defensive minds.
I was a little surprised to see how much power he showed today. He broke through several guys and picked up extra yards. And he can still turn on a dime.
Congrats Denard, you deserve it!
I will miss watching him play for Michigan. Run, Denard!
He gets credit for all the carries at tailback? I mean, I hope he does. Denard is top five all time wolverines to me.
Great guy. Really going to miss him. Truly was a michigan man. Thanks denard!
I hope he gets it.
Rothstein is reporting it as official in this link.
And the Detroit News:
"Denard Robinson, Michigan's senior quarterback, gained 100 yards rushing and leaves Michigan as the NCAA's all-time career rushing leader as a quarterback. He entered the game with 4,395 rushing yards and needing 86 yards to pass former West Virginia quarterback Pat White."

Denard showed a LOT of toughness today. I was thoroughly impressed, and he definitely gave NFL scouts something to think about. We didn't get the win, but I guess this is a nice silver lining.
Anyone know Denard's final stats for today's game?
23 carries, 100 yards, 4.3 average, long of 15, 0/1 passing, 1 reception for 7 yards.
Impressed by Denard today, even though he missed some shots where he cutback and missed some HUGE yardage..
Too bad our secondary was fucking AWFUL today
goodbye Denard, I will miss... our conversations
I will tell you how he lived.
He was a RB the last few games, but he deserves it anyway. Good luck in the NFL Denard! Also somebody should list a RB as a center sometimes just to set a ridiculous record for most running yards ever by a center.
He did take a significant number of snaps though, even if he only threw it once. I think he was still a legit QB that lined up occasionally as a running back.
Yeah I'm fine with him getting it as he would have broke it easily without the injury. I'm just saying the last three games he threw the ball once and ran it like 50 times.
He would've broke it by 100 if someone gave the poor man some cleats.
Congrats Denard, you will be sorely missed.
I assumed they'd screw in some longer cleats at halftime, but it happened again in the 3rd. C'mon D Brandon, quit screwing with the jerseys and make sure they've all got the right equipment that really matters.
