Denard Robinson should move to slot ninja

Submitted by TTUwolverine on
I really think that he is just too good to keep off the field. He might be a good quarterback eventually, but with DG in the fold I think it's time to switch him now before it gets too late. What? Too soon?

Yes I totally agree. Shoelace is one of the fastest players in the big 10, behind his incomming cousin DEMAR DORSEY. Shoelace shows great vision and athletic ability and agility. Shoelace will deff help our offense out at slot and WR. It will help relieve some of our young(but Talented) RBs. Anyone hear anything new about Denard this week? Any possibilities with Robinson at PR/KR??

I appreciate your moxie posting this thread. I'm working on a special diary post about Devin Gardner's prospects for a redshirt that you're sure to enjoy.

I'm still not ready to dismiss the thought of him as "Totally Awesome Starting QB Ninja." It's sounding like Denard is looking pretty solid this spring at QB. I don't know if he'll be able to pass Tate or not, but I've heard good things.

I wouldn't dismiss a true dual-QB system either. Call me crazy... But not knowing the system and being fresh out of HS might have something to do with his issues last year.Crazy,I know. I'm a big Tate fan...But he had alot of advantages in last years competition. Denard's staying at QB.He may see a little time in other roles. But he'll primarily be a QB for at least 2010(whether it be starting, backup,or sharing time to whatever degree).I'd be very surprised if DG didn't red shirt.

Wildcat! It sounds like he is doing everything right in practice, with his big weakness being a lack of "touch" on his throws. He'll develop that by throwing a lot, which is what they seem to have him doing. I doubt Tate can be displaced -- his experience starting last year is too valuable. But it's nice to have a solid option in his stead. I really don't see Gardner playing unless he is starting, the worst-case scenario.

Why slot? I say move him to WR and just have him run flys like against Ohio State. Everyone and their mom's new he was running just straight down the field and they still couldn't cover him.

This thread might be a work. However, I don't understand how we benefit from playing Denard in a position stocked with Tay Odoms, Roy Roundtree, Jeremy Gallon, and Kelvin Grady. Perhaps Michigan plays Denard at outside receiver? Or, perhaps he plays QB? Reports are that he's significantly improving. He might just be the starter this fall.

However, I agree that Denard should be kept at QB this season. He will still get his handful of plays at the QB spot, hopefully with a little better variety of playcalling. I also expect that he will get some situational spot plays at reciever and running back as well. My guess is that RichRod's intent will be to redshirt Devin Gardner if at all possible, so that means Denard will still be the primary backup to Tate for this season. I'm guessing after this season he will likely be moved out of the QB spot to reciever full time.

we need Denard to be a solid #2 option at QB. Yes, he would be dangerous in other spots. However, we need at least 2 guys who can run the offense well. Devin should wait to see the field so that he gets at least 2 years of starting after Tate graduates. I would never wish any injuries on anyone, but they always happen. If Denard gets banged up at slot/returner and Tate gets banged up at QB, then we're back to the "true frosh running the show" thing that has worked so well the last couple of years.

With 90 threads about the hockey game last night, this is very comforting ground. The hockey game sucked, we all know that, but there was one thread about AIDs and posts relating it to deaths in families. It was terrible but let’s get a hold of ourselves people, we wear a cup and get karate chopped (shutō-uchi in Japanese) in the throat, that happens sometimes. With that said, perhaps another slot ninja could combat this so called judo chop by saving us all from this Johnny Lawrence wanna-be. This is also a great diversion from the 8942 threads about MSU that precede this post. I feel like I’ve read more on here the last week about MSU then I have about Michigan. I like this though. It’s familiar ground. It’s home sweet home, or as a beaver would say, dam sweet dam. Someone tell me what number Tate is wearing next year, how many wins Rich Rod needs to keep his job, and a jujutsu gouging of the eye directed at the freep. Personally, I feel like Antonio Bass would make a great QB in our system, is he coming back next year? +1 to the OP and whoever makes a new thread not about hockey (post it on one of the 102 hockey threads already in existence (I estimate 12 more will be made by the time I finish this)), MSU, AIDs (unless someone makes a miraculous break through, which I would be all for posting), and other such Debby Downer things. PS OT. New Karate Kid movie featuring Jackie Chan...in China...yeah... I have no problem with the movie, just the title, how about Lai Tung Pai Lad, or Bajiquan Boy, or Choy Gar Child, or even Kung Fu Kid, but if you are going to use Jackie Chan and a scenario where a child embrasses Kung Fu, at least use an appropriate title.

Rod already said Denard would get on the field as both QB and WR/RB hybrid. I believe he said that Denard was too skilled to have him on the bench when Tate is at QB.

Give him time, we're not devoid of playmakers on offense, in general the offense wasn't a huge issue last year. He, probably more than anyone else in his class, needs time to grow into playing his position in college, we knew this coming in. He's got a cannon, ontop of the rest of his ability, they should develope him. I don't believe he has nearly as much upside at any other position, but that's just from my eye test.

someone to make all these decisions. I would suggest that we might refer to them as the coach, but hey, that's just me. It should be easy, all they have to do is come here and read every day, then go back and put it all in place.
