....exactly the type of freedom you endangered (or at least pledged to endanger) yourself to protect?

Plus I would recommend trying to distance your honorable service from those who gave the orders and hide behind that flag.

They are the ones who have abused the trust they owed to both soldiers and citizens equally.

I won't ever condemn a soldier for honoring the chain of command, but you better let me stomp the "decision makers" for so easily sending troops into harms way, especially for Bullshit reasons. *cough* benevolent hegemony my ass.

I won't comment on our government, good or bad, but I don't think people should stomp our flag. It's not our politicians that they're symbolically stepping on, it's our troops and what our nation stands for.

You are pledging allegiance to the flag.  The pledge is the dumbest, most mind-dead and anti-American sales pitch (yes, it was created for a flag company to sell flags) I can think of, and we casually force our kids to do it almost daily.

And I say that as a 30-year veteran and current teacher.

Look up the "Bellamy salute" that was invented to be used during the pledge.  You'll understand why they dropped that, but won't understand why they dropped the pledge as well.

Under God wasn't even in the initial wording of the Pledge.... it was added in much later...so relax champ.

I love the "go back to your country" meme whenever people feel threatened by different ideas...

I don't really care if anyone likes Lil Wayne or not (not a big fan personally) but that whole thing seemed way overblown.

After two separate weapons convictions, a whole lot of drugs and lyrics a lot of people have objected to, it just seems like a weird straw to break the camel's back, especially since his story seems plausible enough.

Wouldn't want to accuse if that wasn't your point.

But pulling the "I'm a soldier" when people are questioning the motivations of their government always makes me feel uneasy. I just feel the relationship should be mutually supportive, the military takes the enormous burden of protecting our freedoms and in return the citizens are supposed to make sure the commanders aren't incompetent buffoons sending our soldiers to their deaths without honor.

It seems lately it's the citizens who aren't doing their job.

People pull the soldier card because not because you're questioning gov't -- you should... they pull that card because it really sucks having people like you who have ZERO clue what it's like to serve and yet run their mouth about it.

....such a moron I Iet my government go unchecked and now its sends kids to get killed for things that enslave us rather than securing freedoms.

All so the Generals can adorn themselves with empty Medals from battles that have no honor and no missions accomplished.

That's why I admire America's first army more than any other and I'm ready to stomp flags, scream "don't tread on me" and dump shit in the harbor to make sure our soldiers are only fighting when freedom is a stake and not fighting to keep control of oil reserves.

But you're right; soldiers don't glorify war, politicians do and its them I hate, so sorry.

He isn't really wrong tho. Even as we speak, Obama n the government are trying to be as sneaky as possible to pass the Trans Pacific Partnership while the public is fixated on that racist POS down in SC instead.

So yeah... fuck em.

True. The TPP is the best example of dems and republicans being complicit in hijacking the government of this country. Big oil is the ONLYreason we sent troops to Iraq and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and NOTHING more. Big business' alegence lies soley to the almighty dollar. They dont give a shit about our flag, the lives of soldiers, the citizens of this country nor their backs on which this country was built. The TPP takes hundreds of thousands of jobs away from this country and creates more billions for the rich. The sad truth is that millions of americans are ignorant enough to vote against their better interests every election because they actually belive news outlets like fox news and drug addicts like rush limbaugh. And wall street will continue to take advantage of that.
