This is a joke. I can't believe it hasn't caused any suspicion at EA with making up a 12K deficit in like 12 hours
to play football, not to play trumpet
This is a joke. I can't believe it hasn't caused any suspicion at EA with making up a 12K deficit in like 12 hours
It's over. They're seriously getting like 20 votes a second and we're getting a couple. Our only hope is that this contest gets called off due to rampant cheating.
As a graduate of a military service academy, I'm disappointed in the behavior of the Aggies, a known military feeder school. The other REAL service academies have honor codes. I'm surprised they feel justified in this course of action.
FFS people, youre making it sound like they're rigging an electoral vote. It's a internet poll that may or may not decide the cover of a video game for one year. Get a grip.
Lead is officially gone. A&M is now leading :(
Is so dynamic and has broad national appeal. Clearly..
the cheating is unbelievable lol
fight fire with fire.. amirite?
Posted this in the other thread:
There's a video showing how the cheat is done. TAMU fans started doing it yesterday when Denard was up 16k. They were absolutely cheating. I was up from 4AM-5AM studying and during that time Swope gained over 1000 votes more than Denard. Those votes happening in the middle of the night are not legit, obviously that's impossible. Don't know how to embed so I'll leave link (embed please?):
Mods, please delete this thread, this screams TWIS waiting to happen...
What I question is where is our support.... 1million fans of Michigan Football on facebook, Tons showing up on here. We NEED more spreading!
Post Vote for Denard on the front page!
Yell around campus!
Tell everyone at Blimpy Burger tomorrow!
Scream at people at work to vote!
Spread the word! We should be ashamed at only 150k (with few cheaters ourselves, cause we are not innocent either honestly)
Yeah man, it doesn't matter. The strength of our fanbase was shown when Denard was winning for weeks when the votes were still legit. However many real people we get to vote now will just be cancelled out by some TAMU fan cheating because they have nothing better to do.
but your avatar of BK and the instructions to "yell" and "scream" with all the exclamation points is cracking me up... Not funny with all the cheaters at TAMU.
Chill people. This is not something that matters.
EA will decide whether they want to keep it one vote based on who they think will sell more games on the cover (if they even have a strong preference). If anything, being dedicated enough to cheat might make them more inclined to accept the vote despite not following the "rules."
Seems like it's time to get EA invovled.
We can play dirty too, do what the instructional video says and Denard can still win. HURRY and stop moping do something people.
Screw that. I want Denard to win, but I don't want to act like a catty high school girl and cheat in a popularity contest.
Second in EA Sports voting, but first in our hearts...
Fast, white WR or blazing, black, dreaded QB/RB/WR wearing an iconic helmet with his laces untied. If they cheat and win - whatever, that's just a bad decision in my opinion. Anyone who pays even a small amount of attention to college football knows Denard just by first name. This other cat is a nobody.
EA doesn't care
Nobody really should, this isn't worth getting worked up over.
Actually, IMO, it is. They sell hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of copies of this game every year and ends up in kid's rooms around the country. This is the ultimate form of free advertising for the University, and more importantly, the football program.
Yeah, I'm sure neither Alabama nor Oregon supporters would have attempted to rock (cheat) the vote.
This is totally a SEC v BIGTEN battle morphing onto facebook. They are oversigning votes and doing it with SPEED, while we are voting at an honorable 1 vote for 1 person and doing it at a slower, steady pace. I think we should enlist the help of the texaslonghorn fanbase. I'm sure they'd be willing to help..
Apparently it's the fastest way to cheat the facebook poll, and it's what they've been doing since 2-26-13
It's more than that. On texags.com, there is evidence of the use of macros.
TAMU's cheating has gotten them a ridiculous 40,000 "votes" in two hours. Denard's only hope is that EA is aware of the cheating and realizes that he was 10,000 votes ahead of TAMU before it started. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
When they say "The South will rise again" they mean to be tools of EA Sports FB page. I wouldn't be surprised if EA was doing this themselves just to keep people talking about this for one more day.
This contest has become a complete joke. Anyone who has taken Stats 101 can see that the vote has become extremely skewed in a way that is only explainable by manipulation. EA should void all votes from fan pages and award Denard the cover, but they probably won't given the fact that they are a shit company that has been cranking out the same shitty game for a decade. I feel sorry for people who still buy their crap.
exactly. I only buy the game once per game system. The online play is so buggy and slow.
We shouldn't try to outcheat TAMU. Better to let their guy win and blast EA with tweets and e-mails that we refuse to purchase a sports game with a cover that personifies cheating.
I agree that we shouldn't cheat. But you think EA cares about tweets and emails pointing out the cheating? They just want attention, and from their perspective controversy over the cover selection is probably better than a clean win for either player.
Let Swope win. Just gives me more reason to save $60
+1, just like the poll, the game is clearly broken. Give it to the ea in Vancouver and let them make it great!
Save your money and buy Fifa or NHL.
So, we should "punish" EA Sports by . . . giving them money in other ways?
Anyone with a good working knowledge of the dangers of online voting might've predicted how Denard Robinson's 16,000 vote lead over Ryan Swope could quickly evaporate in less than 24 hours and eventually turn into a landslide victory for Swope. The Takeaway: This may become evidence when Congress next considers changes in voting methods for political elections. EA Sports: It Rigged The Game!
If they put a SEC nobody on the cover I want buy it
It really makes me wonder, why don't they do regional covers? Denard can be the Midwest and east, geno smith could be the southeast, Matt Barkley (poor example) could be the west. That way, if you are a fan of MSU or OSU, you could order one without Denard on it, and ea's sales would prolly go up knowing how intense college football rivalries are... Just my humble opinion, not that it matters much.
To just hack EA's Facebook/website and declare Denard the winner by all of the points?
I believe their FB password is "12345"
That's amazing, I've got the same combination on my luggage.
come on EA- make a business/common sense decision
Guys, honestly, it's a video game. It's not worth getting worked up about.
Except when you factor in this video game gets put in hundreds of thousands of kids hands throughout the country. It's free advertising for the University and football program. It's not "just a video game". This really has little to do with the actual video game and everything to do with the winged helmet being on the cover of something that's on store shelves throughout the country.
Unleash the bots!
This always struck me as a non-issue. EA can obviously do what they want with the cover, and that includes ignoring whomever the "voting public" (and by voting public I mean anonymous internet tallies) chooses for the figure most likely to grab people's eyes.
I suspect that Robinson will be on the cover of the two listed.
For the record, though, there are some people at the EA page who insinuated that UM fans weren't "smart enough" to know about doing this while TAM fans did, so why should we complain just because someone beat them to it. This is a common claim by people who don't quite get that knowing how to be a d*ck and actually being a d*ck are two completely diferent things, and that not everyone makes that leap because they understand it isn't fair to others. I mean, UM's engineering and CS programs are some of the best in the country; if they wanted to screw around with Facebook's voting calculus, you better believe they would.
We were able to hack the test election thing a few years ago... EA Games would be a small potato. However, I don't think EA can create a contest and then just say, "Screw it, we're picking the winner". I mean, they could... but it wouldn't be very smart.
That's my point. UM could have done it had they wanted.
EA started the contest to see who won fairly, but if a bunch of bots basically generated a false winner, I doubt EA will follow through on it. They want to sell copies of a video game; some anonymous WR from A&M isn't going to move the needle much. That's why they'll pick the best cover.
I have my bot going. How about you?
If they're allowing cheating, lead the way.
first Download Firefox, then add iMacros
Once its installed Press F8 to bring up the program.
Then load this macro
Not ashamed to admit that I really care about this and am willing to cheat if it's being allowed. I play at least one game of NCAA daily. I understand Denard's boyish dream to be on the cover and IT MUST BE FULFILLED.
Could not get code to work. Ended up recording the macro myself. Maybe everyone has to do this.
Also from what I can tell from my limited memory of this syntax, this macro just clicks denards bubble repeatedly.... but votes don't count more than once from the same user, at least according to EA. Edit: I've now read in a few places that the macro can vote more than once.
How do you update it for yourself? This is what I get when I try to run it:
RuntimeError: element INPUT specified by ID:u_0_12 was not found, line: 4 (Error code: -921)
I'm going to be at work today, so if someone can tell me how to get it to work for me, I will let this go on my laptop all today.
I was getting that error too. I tried to fix it by recording the macro myself. This seemed to help but it would only execute once or twice before it would fail and give me that error. I figured I was just moving too fast for my computer. I put in a pause command into the macro and now it will vote 100's of times before failing.
Use the macro script given above. Then, after the url command use the command
is making me miss programming even more. JEEEZ IM A NERD. Gave it up 7 years ago but I'm adding computer science if/when I transfer into LSA.
Navigate to the question link manually. Click Rec. Click Record. Click Denard's bubble. Click Stop. Click Edit. Edit the macro you just created. The cursor should already be at the end. Hit enter. Type REFRESH. Save & close this macro. Click Play. Type in a Max number of repetitions. Click Play(Loop). I'm still getting errors every once in a while... probably because my computer isn't running smoothly as a result of a nearly failed hard drive and limited RAM. Just restart it periodically.
it really is as easy as logging in as your fan page under the settings icon. Wow. I'm so disappointed.
This same kind of nonsense happened with the ESPN top uniforms tournament a couple years back. The Denver Bronco's fanbase was bot voting and took out the Red Wings and eventually made it to the finals against Michigan. ESPN engineers discoverd illegitimate votes during the finals and DQ'd Denver and declared Michigan the winner. That decision didn't even have financial ramifications. Hopefully EA does the same.
All is not lost yet. We have been gaining ground by 100 votes every hour. If we up our production a bit, we can win it back.
...and make it angry.
Write a letter....AND MAKE IT ANGRY!!!
EA should let the people decide the content that they want and EA's marketing department can make the cover.
Regardless, Denard will be on my cover. I design them. I design them covers all the back to the Bill Walsh on the Genesis. If anyone wants a custom cover for 14 or an older game, shoot me a tweet or DM.
I may hit you up for one. Thanks!
Our great leader has spoken!
As always, Denard stays classy. Good man!
That's why he's the best.
Fun fact: Michigan has the most NCAA cover athletes. Most people know about the two they have with Woodson & Howard, but they forgot about Walter Smith on College Football USA 96.
Perhaps the only K-State player to make the cover of anything.
Whatever happened to companies just making a decision on something. Everytime there is some sort of nation wide vote on something, it always ends like this, so they are never legit. I just don't understand why someone at EA can't make a decision (even if that decision isn't Denard) without this stupid 18 week vote.
EA should either pick a player because he was really good in college (what they have typically done) or pick a player based on a new feature or significant change they made (Heisman thing = D. Howard; fixing QB running: put Denard; putting in a feature to being able to play as a lock down corner (or fixing the DBs in general), put Dee Milliner on it). I'm probably just a bitter, cranky, old man or something, but I'm tired of all these stupid vote things instead of companies just having some balls and making a decision.
What fascinates me is companies' obsessions with clicks and page views --ostensible proxies for revenue generation-- yet whence their certainty that moar clicks = moar games sold?
I've been using the internet for 15 years and I have probably spent a total of $40 on things I became aware of through an internet ad or promotion, while visiting countless pages and clicking on countless things.
There are analysts who have studied how clicks correlate to revenue. It really varies by industry. I don't remember where I read this, but I do remember that ads for porn had a return on investment much higher than any other category.
Wow couple hundred votes a minute. Kind of dumb.
The only reasonable explanation for this loss is that there weren't enough threads devoted to getting the word out.
TAMU wins by cheating, so what? It's the SEC way, let's be real. Denard tweeted about voting legitimately and doing things the "Michigan" way, mentioned character and integrity, and that made everything okay for me.
Time for NCAA investigations? I think so. (/s, just in case)
Obviously I'm so infuriated I had to say it twice.
Down to 700+ votes now. Go Blue!
WE'RE DOWN 10,000 VOTES! Go Vote! Doesn't Swope's 10,000 vote lead make you wanna go vote?! Go Vote!
Denard just retook the lead!
who's no longer playing college football? Sure, having Swope be a candidate is ridiculous, given all the other much higher profile players across the country, but I would think they'd want a guy who's going to be playing college ball next season.
The courts say the players have to be paid for their likeness and NCAA rules say that a current player can't be paid. Therefore, you have to get a player who is no longer playing.
This blows because Denard is a million times more deserving to be on the cover. I literally did not know who Ryan Swope was before this contest.
Denard is in the lead by 100!!!
Up 300 now!! Doesnt hurt that Woodson posted on FB to vote for Denard
Why do other schools want to antagonize our computer guys?
Doesn't anyone else remember the ESPN poll where the Mgobotnet reached Skynet proportions with their ballot-stuffing?
But they haven't given a specific time, correct?
11:59 pm EST
For those savvy enough to create these macros, do whatever it takes to take this home. There's no violation of NCAA rules here people...there's a reason Denard lost a 16000 vote lead over night, TAM was doing the exact same thing.
We clearly have the smarter engineers no? GO!
Shhhhh.....don't tell Denard. He's too good of a person and doesn't want us cheating. I already promised not to call him about it, so we're all good. But if this is a dream of his from his childhood, I think we owe it to him for all the great memories he has given us.
and let them know what;s going on. If they just look at the voting results starting last night it will be obvious there is cheating.
If we can get 100 tweets and emails and keep it up for a couple days they will notice. We should also tweet a link to the A&M cheating video. I'm at work so can't do anything now.
But if someone can get the ball running that would be great...
Yea, let's just go tattle on them because they found a loophole in the voting. I want Denard to win to, but I wouldn't run to EA with a list.
Nobody fucks with the e-prowess of the University of Michigan.
EA wins with this, because of the interest in "voting." It just doesn't matter that much to me.
But beyond that, I hate the argument, "if they're cheating, then we'll cheat and beat them at their own game." Don't do that.
Take the high road, folks. We're better than them.
Seeing as Denard has shot back into the lead, I doubt everyone agrees with your mentality.
I agree EA wins on the attention end of things.
That said, once the rampant cheating gets involved then it morphs from a one click/one vote scenario to a competition between the computer savvy at both schools and the relative enthusiasm of those individuals to control the vote and, ultimately, the narrative.
While I don't necessarily support cheating in most endeavors I look the other way when, on rare occasion, a Michigan lineman holds.
I see this more or less the same way...when TAM involved the cheating at a computer science level they started tugging on superman's cape....ask ESPN.
Denard up by 400+ now. And increasing...
Clearly TAM was messing with the wrong guys on this one...
(credit the lolbrary.com)
and A&M has already mastered the art of the cheat
need to let EA know this is happening
on facebook and on twitter
I am kind of torn on deciding something like this with an internet vote. I understand that it is probably a good way to interact with fans, generate publicity, and increase interest in the video game. HOWEVA, these things always end up with people flooding the system with bots and manipulating the vote. So what is the point?
No reason to complain to EA. If A&M says we cheated, we just tell them that they instigated it but we mastered it.
What's the count now? FB blocked where I work...
As of 10:45 AM Eastern time...Denard up 520
...wait, but I'm Central time zone. What's the conversion factor?
Me too...I am stuck in Bucky Country
10:50 AM EST
The other guy: 162,491
it is time to fight fire with fire. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
these A & M fans trying to justify it now !
Im getting sick of seeing Vote, Vote Vote all the time. When does it end?
Midnight (12:00 AM) Eastern Standard Time
currently 162,962 denard
162,458 for swope
I can't believe we were losing to this:
Another Michigan Man on the Cover!! Go Blue!!
Denard's lead is increasing rapidly, now over 1,000.
Anyone know what the actual end time of the vote is today? All I have seen is that it ends on March 8th but not at what time it ends. Hopefully sooner than later given the current vote results.
Way too much time left! Was hoping it was during the day some time.
Gotta keep those votes going!
TAM probably ran that game through the first three rounds (or whatever it was)
Denard up 1300 votes now. Seems the tide has turned.
They're saying only legitimate votes will be counted. Perhaps they have a way to throw out all the fan page votes.
I dont see why A&M is so vested in this. Once Manzel leaves for the NFL next year they'll get the cover. Our man is gonna take it.
But I think he has two years before he can leave for the league
He wasn't a freshman last year - he got redshirted. So, yeah, unless he totally flips this year he'll go pro.
Another update, with 12.5 hours to go:
TLDR: Both sides appear to be cheating but it's only been notoriously obvious because Denard has had a comfortable lead this whole time and now somehow Swope has ate up an almost 15k lead in one day.
LOL@Aggies trying to say Dude Perfect, amazing social media advertising by their university and a tweet from Johnny Football are all reasons they have closed the gap in voting.
Yea, Denard's lead was over 9,900 at 11:00 AM yesterday (even larger in previous days).
Denard's lead is now over 2,000.
The page takes a minute to load now.
There will be justice and mgoblog will spear the charge so that this travesty will not go unaddressed by EA.
