be leading by 15K?
Denard cover vote going down to the wire
I'd be shocked if EA actually does anything about that. How can they sift through 500,000 votes effectively, and perhaps more importantly, why should they care? Everyone's getting worked up about it and talking about it. Exactly what they want us all to do.
Wait, so this Facebook hosted fan poll to decide the cover of an upcoming video game is all some kind of promotional ploy? I feel so used. I need a shower...
I voted for Denard.
I voted for the Blue M&M.
If Denard was up by 14,000 and TAM votes were steady, they may take a look at the timing of the spike. From that point, continue the trend line to get the final TAM total.
They could of just asked each of there new football recruits to each cast a vote. That would probably make about a 14000 vote difference.
Yeah, but that's also probably some kind of recruiting violation. I can only assume.
How can they sift through 500,000 votes effectively,
Give anyone with a working knowledge of just about any programming language an hour and they will be able to write a program that will fully catalog, categorize, and count those votes any way wanted in a matter of tenths of seconds.
Seeing as EA is kinda in the software business, I think they can pull it off.
Yup, you're right. We haven't had enough of these threads in the past 24 hours.
Somewhere there's a dead horse needing some attention.
Is today the end of the voting ?
yeah its over tonight at midnight
Yes it ends at midnight.
Midnight Michigan time or Texas A&M time?
(Although I suppose midnight Michigan time would actually be 12:10... zing!)
...since the 2000 presidential election.
How's he doing in the Red States?
On the FB page it now says 133k to 123k for Denard...did they fix the voting?
I assume you are talking about their cover photo. That was updated yesterday, before the bot/page creating began.
ya my bad...well now denard is up about 750 votes.
I am the one largely responsible for denard catching up. Will explain how when voting ends.
Don't cheat man. We can win without doing that.
You really think Michigan made up the difference today without cheating?
It's possible, we had a lot of mentions on twitter from high profile celebrities.
Keep it up
Whatever you are doing... DOUBLE IT!!
Would you happen to know Michael Blasius of Northville?
I don't care about all of the threads since voting ends tonight and the vote is up and down. Every hour the votes shift astronomically.
EA has said that they hope to announce a winner Tuesday. The cynical people who say they are not going to take out the cheaters seem to think that would be difficult. It won't be that hard.
I love Denard but I can't wait for this contest to be over. I sure hope EA not only says that Denard wins but they announce how lame A&M is.
I hope EA says the results are tainted so they extend it another week or 2. its only fair
They will just have both of them on the cover so neither fan base gets upset.
Like Denard's head on Swope's body?
Denards head on denards body.
I feel like EA could say they'll only count legit votes and that they'll take the time to get the numbers right, but if they wanted to they could just put who they want on the cover and say that's who really won the real vote count. In either case, I think Denard wins.
Denard's lead has gone from just under 1k to over 2k in the past 10 minutes. I think he's got it in the bag. Bad part is I'll probably have to buy it if he wins. Not for Denard, but rather a keepsake to commemorate the topic of 1,000 threads.
- Decided by the House of Representatives
- Decided by a Shootout at the hockey rink of the university with more NCAA ice hockey championships, with each school selecting five skaters from its hockey team to compete
- Decided by Penalty Kicks at Emirates Stadium in London, with each team selecting five players from its soccer team to compete
- Two weeks of Overtime Voting, and if the tie still isn't broken, then they go to Penalty Kicks
- Each nominee receives an Oscar (sorry, wrong list)
- All of the eight original candidates in the NCAA '14 Cover Vote Contest will appear on the cover . . . and Lennay Kekua will appear in the center
- Decided by a duel in Weehawken, New Jersey, using Revolutionary War Era pistols
- Awarded to the university with more alumni
- Coin flip at midfield of the New Orleans Superdome, with the player from either university who most recently appeared on the cover of EA Sports NCAA Football flipping the coin
- Decided by a 500-mile race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway between the solar cars from each university
A few too many threads to get on the cover is well worth it. This is Denard for god sakes. He carried our ass for the better part of 3 years.
I know its come down to bots but just look at the stat comparison. Swope: rush, 59 yds 0 tds receiving, 3117 yds 24 tds. Denard: rush, 4495 yds 42 tds passing, 6250 yds, 49 tds oh yeah and 2 FBS records most rushing yards by a quarterback, and first player to have 1500 passing and 1500 yards rushing on one season. Denard picked up in one season the same yardage as swope's career. EA sports will make a huge mistake if they let the bots choose the cover in favor of an above average wide reciever. If that does happen I bet a shit load of people will think Johnny Manzell is actually the one on the cover, because no one who hasn't been following this vote knows who swope is. That is all
With two hours to go, Denard is now up by over 4,700.
This vote has been all over the place the last couple of days. Yesterday around 11:00 AM, Denard was up by 9,900. This morning, he'll trailed, they went up by 2,800 around 1:00 PM, then was trailing by 2,000 a couple of hours ago.
The great national nightmare shall soon pass!
At 10:10 PM, Denard is up by exactly 5,000.
Keep voting people! C'mon!
Denard's lead is over 5k with less than an hour to go. I think this race is called.
I think he's in the clear also
"We are aware of the voting irregularities around the NCAA Football 14 Cover Vote. We are in touch with the players and schools involved in the final round voting, and in the spirit of integrity and fair play, are in agreement that only votes from legitimate accounts will be counted in the cover vote."
seems they will stop the poll tonight, and take few days to count all the real votes.
So this means Denard will win right? Any chance Swope got more legit votes?
I'm assuming the answer is no because Denard had a big lead a few days ago. But I also feel like this allows EA sports to pretty much pick whoever they want to win and cover it up as a "recount".
A&M fans are claiming that Michigan fans were cheating first which prompted their cheating and brought them back in the race. However when you look at where Denard was at one point, up over 14k votes, there is no way the A&M fans legitimately got Swope back in the race. After they remove all the fraudulent votes I am sure Denard will still be the winner. Some of their fans were even posting links to this blog. It was quite ridiculous. So glad this is over.
Won unofficially by 5k, should be more after the fake accounts are deleted! Great job, MGoBloggers! We beat the SEC!!
What if we do end up being behind after this 'recount'? Even the presidential election can't get things right.... Just have to wait till Tuesday.
A whole day of voting and I need to buy a new mouse! Oh well better safe than sorry.
HUZZAH! I believe we have done it ladies and gentleman. I am fully prepared to announce that Denard Robinson will be on the cover of EA sports NCAA Football 14.
should have taken a screen shot of the final tallies.
That's nice of you, but EA won't be making any announcement until they get all the cheating out. (I am confident this will still put Denard on the cover, but at this point the poll was meaningless.)
A few minutes ago Denard had 199,517 and was up by about 5200 votes. The totals for both are now dropping steadily.
I hope they get all the votes recounted soon! I'd hate to think what effect this could have on the stock market!
Where are you seeing that? Looking at the poll here: https://www.facebook.com/questions/10151454940472280/ Denard is at 199k and Swope is at 190k. Are they adding votes back in?
EA Sports doesn't even know you can still view that page and people are still on it and voting.
People may be commenting who they want to vote for, but the totals have not increased as far as I can see, so I think it really is closed.
Word on the street is that this morning, David Boies’ associates, Chad Hanging and Bill S. Preston, Esq., will be filing a Complaint and Order to Show Cause in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida at the Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale (about 17.5 miles from Deerfield Beach, Florida), seeking to have Denard Robinson of the University of Michigan declared the winner of the EA Sports NCAA Football ‘14 Cover Vote election and all ballots and voting machines used in the election impounded until the Court has made its final decision.
Film crews from ESPN, MGoBlog, the NFL Network and the Onion Sports Network already are there to cover the proceedings
We'll continue to cover this story as it develops. Now, back to our regulalrly scheduled programming..
If Fbook cooperates with EA Sports, it'd be a relatively simple process to find legimitate votes I think. Only take votes for accounts created before March 7th (or whatever day/time they see fit) and don't take votes from the 'cause' pages that are linked to a single user's profile.
There's really no feasible way Denard doesn't get on the cover, if it is legitimate.
I disagree with this plan. What if I am a legitimate voter but don't have a facebook, so I made one yesterday so that I could vote? Using the process you suggest, my vote would not count.
Just put Brent Mussberger and Katherine Webb on the cover
Is it over? Did Denard win?
