Personally I think you should read the bottom part of the defensive UFR (on the front page right now). And look at UFRs from the ND and EMU game. Those will give you an idea of what's up with the Defense.
IMO they are still learning a system, need more experience and more talent. I think I would be fine with mediocre, considering they haven't looked BAD yet. If they get completely torn up then we likely lose. If they continue to make plays when they need to our offense can pick up the rest of the load a we can beat a lot of teams.

yet is a good way of putting it. They have also only been seriously challenged once.
They're a couple key injuries away from falling off the cliff into awful. Right now they are good enough to get UM 7 or 8 wins and a bowl game. Wouldn't expect much more than that even with a win over ND.
Our 4 road games could be disasters MSU, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin are all winable and loseable games.......I don't think we've seen enough to think UM can beat either OSU or PSU.
I think we can win 2 of those road games, which ones is a complete guess.

I do not think the defense needs any game time or even practice at all! In fact, the defense does not need to be on the field at all, the offense can do everything and we'd be fine. :)
