5 TD's! (That 34 yarder is sick) 212 all-purpose yds
That is all.
Offense will be near unstoppable.
the reasons V. Smith gets a lot of touches, it seems to me, is because he has pretty good ball security, knows his assignments, and blocks relatively well---these are pre-reqs in any offense. As you say, the other guys are going to get touches. Until freshmen get on campus and prove they can understand the playbook, know their assingments, make adustments live, and secure the ball against big boy football players, it's a lot to ask of them to come in right away and produce. All that typically comes before physical talent.
Maybe Dee can do it (that would be sweet) but it's probably more likely he'll get the kind of action Noel Devine did as a freshman at WVU( about 70 carries), seeing some time, but waiting his turn behind somewhat less dynamic but more experienced upper classmen. We may see Dee in the slot some (relative to his touches at RB) as well.
Dee is enrolling early and will know the playbook and had time to work with Barwis which is very beneficial. We don't have Steve Slaton. To say Devine waited his turn behind a somewhat less dynamic but more experienced upper classman is just plain.....
Man, I cannot wait to see him in maize and blue.
I can't wait to be sick of hearing announcers saying. "This team is used to having a Michigan running back with the name Hart put up big numbers." Then they will chuckle as if they've solified their career with such a pointed observation...
I hadn't thought of that, but even hearing it once is enough.
This team has Hart.
Also, will this be the release from the Mike Hart, Little Brother comment? Now that a new Hart has moved into the fold. My quarter says yes.
Mike Hart's "Little Brother" comment will be a part of the MSU rivalry for a long time. He really touched a nerve with that one.
Think of how it would be if, for example, Terelle Pryor called OSU a "superior program to Michigan." Because OSU has had their way for most of the last decade, there would be just enough "truth" in it to piss most of us off.
Now, think of what would happen if Danny Hope said Purdue was a superior program to Michigan. The proposition would be so ludicrous that, while we would use it as another example of his classlessness, it wouldn't sting nearly as hard because Michigan has had its way with Purdue forever. Most Michigan fans would probably laugh extremely hard at such a comment.
Since MSU was something like 27-67-5 against Michigan when the "little brother" comment was made, it has to sting a lot more than any team making a similar comment about Michigan, because the element of truth is so much greater. Since Sparty is at an elite level when it comes to getting the most mileage out of both anger and victories, I can imagine this going on for at least another twenty years.
It couldn't happen to a nicer team.
Is there a video link out there?
Ive got a gray box and that's it, no video
Thanks. I suck at embedding. I thought I finally had it working, but yeah...no.
Source...paste the code...source. Right?
Thats the ticket, but its possible that the Orlando Sentinel web site just sucks.
Dr. Phillips let them score 6 points?!?! Talk about an off night for the defense...
Shaw (Sr), V. Smith (Jr), toussaint (So), Hopkins (So), and Hart (Fr). 5 backs that deserve carries next year. Can't wait to see Hart in our offense next year. It will be interesting how they split the carries.
He could get more carries next year, I don't see him getting more carries then the others listed though. Glad if he could prove me wrong. It's a great problem to have. Hopefully Hart can be the feature back of our offense in the not so distant future.
i think that list looks accurate just the way it is
The best of problems to have! Dee's acceleration was just sick out there!
I don't think we can say Hart deserves carries next year until he at least proves himself during fall camp or the spring game if he gets to campus early. That being said, he is the next running back recruit that everyone is really hyped about, myself included. I'm hoping this kid turns out to be the break away threat we need at the position.
Wow Dee looks slick cant wait to see him in a Michigan jersey...
And a bonus feature with that Clinton-Dix run. Here's hoping he decides to follow Dee north (I know, long shot but I can dream!!) I know he won't be on the O but that was some nice speed he shows!
I like the optimism. Are they all planning to come up for the Wisconsin game? I thought I had heard that was when they rescheduled for.
The noon game will be problematic to them, much like the noon Illinois kickoff was according to Webb.
he's got that deceptive speed!
god i hope we can pry clinton-dix away from bama
......the RB stud next year, with Shaw and Smith backing him up and Hopkins for the tough runs. Hart will definitely get some carries though and, IMO, will have some good runs to show what the future UM offense will be.
I'm just not that sold on a freshmen, any freshmen, coming in and being the major contributor on this offense.
I am hoping Fitz gets some carries today to show how good he is.
the #20 is already assigned to Shaw, though I like him as a player.
Given that Hart is a highlight phenom, this may be a silly question, but is there any chance Hart redshirts next fall? With Shaw, Fitz, Smith, Cox and Hopkins all sharing touches with Denard, maybe it makes some sense to save him. You know, like Joseph and Pharoah...save up during times of feast, in case of a future RB famine in the land? :)
Dee has already dominated top tier HS competition and plays a position where true freshman often contribute immediately at the collegiate level. He simply does things that cannot be coached. It's not a stretch to think he'll push for immediate playing time.
Did I break it?
