STOP JERKING ME AROUND
Dee Hart RE-committing??
You would usually have to pay extra for that kind of service.
'what's a ZJ?'
'if you have to ask, big man, you can't afford it.'
Otter redux. I don't need this.
get interesting. If M plays him on O, i bet he stays.
It was like the perfect storm for Dee. Justice and his commitment probably threw Dee for a loop. Add that to the rumors of Coach Rod. Also, you have his best friend whispering to him about playing together. This has to be tough on the kid.
Only time will tell...
Is very telling
maybe the world is not caving in after all!
I can't handle this anymore.
I can! Keep RR and get the best player in the country and our offense will destroy all!!!!
ya, but our defense will still be destroyed by all unless we get some new guys and bring us upto a mediocor level.
You mean all those freak-out posts in that 400+ thread were for naught?
It gave us all another reason to drink. So, to date, this football season has given us 2,473 reasons to drink (approximately). HOORAY, Beer!
Maybe this is why DB's timetable is what it is - did he buy some beer company stock in september?
What do you suppose Coach Rodriguez drinks, and how frequently?
to say the exact same thing. Kudos. 500+ too.
and realized how much we wanted him. Took pity on us and had second thoughts.
I hope that's true. I think so.
Rod Smith was there, yes. Dee didn't announce anything last night, so yes it's possible. I don't think anyone will know until Dee makes his final decision. Chris Hayes with the Orlando Sentinel said there might be a chance Hart doesn't enroll early too. We'll see.
Hopefully Rod can keep him blue.
And hopefully blue keeps Rod(riguez)
The main point of recruiting is selling both the University and the football program. It seems that, athough coaches are not having the success we all want on the field, they are doing an excellent job of selling the University. The issue is that most big time recruits potential only want to play for a winner, and care less about academic. Its tough even at JC's where they are only there to get eligile and transfer out. Not knocking that perspective, but most players days of playing football are numbered and they and excellent education is your back-up plan. Hopefully, Dee can see that no matter what happens in the next month, he can succeed here on and off the field.
To the OP: its been a lot fun reading everyone perspectives recently, though at times we all are getting a bit frantic, still interesting and fun to see the passion we all share for Michigan.
I think you bring up a really good point that many haven't brought up. For recruiting, a coach sells himself, the program and the University. For us, the coach will sell the education aspect. If Harbaugh ever comes here to coach, how is he going to sell that. I wonder if recruits will dig up what he said about the school 4 years ago. Just a thought, wasn't suppose to imply any RR vs. Jim.
And I feel the same exact way.
Is even better when you continue reading your signature right after.
The only Mgoblog member that actually get posbanged to Bolivian every time he posts. I'm going to be telling Tom VH stories to my grandkids.
I'm mostly a reader and not a poster but I've seen posts with the term Bolivian multiple times. People do know that the word is oblivion...correct? The only reason that word Bolivian should be used is to describe the police that killed Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
We realize it's oblivion.
and here I thought there was Norway somebody would think it possible for that many people to screw up the word "oblivion"
that's because Sweden not know that there are idiots among us.
Everything's Finland dandy around here today.
I just sat here for 10 minutes trying to come up with something crafty to say that could include a European nation. Nothing.
it Spain full to think about, isnt it?
that no one can Croatia thread like this.
Dutchya think you could've come up with something better?
I was in a Russia.
I know this is way late, but I had to sit down for a bit while I Moldova some of the possibilities.
Just put in a little more elbow Greece and you'll get it done.
Denmark it off of your to-do list.
Ukraine do it!
I can't believe I was the first one to +1 you. +many more. Je voudrais vous posbang plus, mais je ne peux pas. (I loves me some Google translator.)
Mike Tyson said in an interview once that he was just going to fade away into Bolivian. It stems from there. Serial
The first and most important way to use Bolivian is when describing marching powder.
I watched Dr. Phillips game last evening. Anytime Dee Hart touches the ball he can take it to the house. Had two TD's called back due to holding calls, if not for those he would have had over 300 yds on the ground. Ran about 30 yds on a 4th and 15. Made one of the most miraculous catches out of the backfield I have ever seen. One handed off his shoestrings.
There were 3-4 times he totally faked out at least 6 guys on a play. He has this burst, then a bit of a glide and a shift to the side than another burst and he weaves his way down the field. His top end speed is very close to Denard. Ended up with 2 TD's and on the downside, he did fumble twice.
Phillips has steam rolled everyone this year but got off to a bad start and was behind 14-0 due to a 74 yd run and a Patti INT. Was 17-14 at half and I think it ended at 38-28. This team is loaded with talent, I counted at least 9 D1 prospects. Reminds me of the Lakeland team a few years ago that had Rainey, and the Pouncey brothers. There are about a half dozen studs on the D at DP. Three of them could step right in and play next fall at UM.
One kid that really impressed me was their kicker=Moffett. He not only kicks everyone into the endzone but most of them are 5 yds out of the endzone. He made one FG of 50 that had a good 15 yds left on it. He is a lanky kid that looks like he should be in Chemistry class not playing FB. In fact maybe that is how he kicks so far-Flubber.
After the game Dee did not mention anything about decommitting. He is a very well spoken young man and seems to have his head on straight. I predict that he will someday be an All-American. Would love to see him at MICHIGAN.
PS Seminole Ridge , Dr Phillips opposition last night had uniforms identical to OSU. Even down to the helmet stickers. I had a warm feeling being able to root for a team who was beating an OSU look alike. I only hope I can see my team in Maize and Blue with the winged helmets do the same in the very near future. GOBLUE!!!!
Just like Denard doesn't juke div 1 players like he did in high school right?
....when given a hole he was able to run but he didn't put many moves on anyone.
No he wasn't busting 85 yd runs, but there were a few times every game where he was close. You have to be blind to not tell he had some sort of injury(s) that was limiting him to some degree; he and RR even said he hasn't been 100% for quite a while. But still, even though it was less than the first half of the season, if you think he didn't juke very many people you weren't watching the same games as the rest of us.
On another note, pretty awesome you met Jay Feely at Costco!
Goodness gracious. That would be nice. I will wait and see though.
I gave you a +1. And not because the song title is perfect for this situation, but because this is the best song ever.
I just sang and danced the whole thing. Twice.
Wants a word with you.
I watched it. Just saying. Why are they all wet?
to convince a top recruit to come to Michigan! Go soccer team!
I would just rather not hear anything more about Dee Hart until I hear Dee Hart is enrolled in a school.
Obviously he's a huge futbol fan.
thanks. +1 2U, sir. The coaching controversy, the recruiting, it is what it is. I can only read so much more. As long as the coaches are pounding the pavement and working on recruits, that's all you can ask for. I hope we get a good class, but I'm done waiting on the minutiae of of recruiting.
Wake me up when it's confirmed that they are in pads, and on the practice field with the team in August.
Wake me up when he trots onto the football field for the first game. White and Turner happening again will always worry me.
If you sleep all the way til then you will miss the following threads:

You're right, I will indeed be staying up for all of that. Nothing better than reading waaaayyyyy too many threads on the same topic over and over again.
Also the monthly "what should I name my dog?" posts
that "Greenday" is one word...
did they change their name when they started wearing excessive amounts of make-up?
All of us beyond a certain age, definitely including me, need to get a life. I am addicted, admittedly. But it doesn't make sense to be so up (or down) on whether (or not) Dee (or Zettel, or Frost, or Walls, etc., etc., etc.) commit to Michigan, or elsewhere. Terrible sentence, but you get the drift. I vaguely recall DB stating that a program doesn't depend on one player. And Magnus feeling potentially Meh about the de-committment of Dee. I hope Hart does what is best for him. And I hope that means coming to Michigan. However, at the end of the day, it only matters so much.
are still 17 year olds. Imagine what he must be hearing from people, each of them with their own agenda, however well-intentioned. If he chooses to play for a bunch of folks who don't really have his best interests at heart, so be it. It does not make him a bad kid, nor does it mean we might have been better with him than without him.
But... somewhere there is a kid looking at the same school. His talent would appear to be very near to DH's, but deep down, in his heart, he knows Dee is better and he is troubled. He won't admit his fear, not to his parents, not to his coaches, and certainly not to us via the media. That fear will drive him to another school, perhaps Michigan. Once the die is cast, it is up to genetics, the staffs, and the football gods. That young man may in fact be better, or more resilient, or maybe just luckier. Recruiting is a gamble, less so for coaches that will cut a kid loose ala Saban, but a gamble nonetheless. This is why we twirl with each incoming class of freshmen, we are like gambling addicts in front of the slots.
Now imagine if there had been a girl involved, and count your blessings.
Edit: Dee, you look much better in Blue than in that gawdawful red!
I was just talking to my wife last night about the same exact thing. This is ridiculous, I am 30 (I'm a man!!!!!), and I had a shitty morning yesterday because I was thinking about losing a 17 year old recruit. I even went so far as to say I was giving up Mgoblog for a while because it isn't good for my overall mental health. I obsess over ridiculous Michigan football related happenings that I have no control over. Then I got back from dinner and promptly checked to see if there were any updates on anything. This is a sickness.
Alabama's check bounced?
Take it easy, I'm only serious.
I just really really can't wait to see Dee in a winged helmet.
I liked it better when I didnt know anything about the recruits until signing day announcements by the coach.
it didnt click
"made in japan"
Unless this is Tom or Mama Hart, I'm not buying it for now.
looks like John Elway....
Our snake oil was better. We just snaked oil the snake oil.
I just burnt my 'denard has hart' t-shirt .....
With all of this nonsense surrounding Dee Hart, have we heard anything going on about other recruits visiting AA this weekend? Also, it seems as though the confidence of Dee in Michigan parallels the back and forth media sensationalism surrounding the coaching situaiton. Only time will tell but time is hell ....
Tell me when it's Feb 2.
Dee will be enrolled by then
Refer to Tom's last post stating that Dee may not enroll early now.
you're going to miss the bowl game
have issues if you stay up at night worrying about recruits.
... see justice hayes lining up in the backfield for michigan. He's a projected slot receiver.
got Hart like he said...
I had a feeling this would happen, never underestimate the power of the wizard. We'll have to see how this plays out but obviously we're his first choice. If I were him I might have a case of cold feet too with all the crap that's happening. Good sign that he hasn't publicly dee-committed yet.
Double dose of that stuff for D Hart!
Dear Rivals and Scout, please stop messing around with us. Thanks, mgoblog users.
Maybe watching LeMichael James has him dreaming of playing in a spread...
Sometimes I wish I could go back to the days when I knew nothing about these kids until Signing Day.
The only downside to that was that I trusted Tom Lemming a whole lot more back then because I thought he was like this genius guy who saw every freaking high school football game.
I knew it was a good idea to hire a jedi as an assistant coach. (With a wave of his had) "You're not going anywhere Dee."
@TomVH's response is good enough for me.
It sounds like we're at least back to neutral or a 50/50 chance. I'm praying for some stability after the week we've had. Stability Now Dammit!
What you're saying is there's a chance?
It does not say much for our coaching situation when between two coaches Nick Saban is the more stable one
The more information we get the less we know. (Unless it's from TomVH.)
Wooooo!!!!!!! This team is gonna be razor sharp.
This situation is clearly as fluid as RR's job status.
Xanax for everyone. Get in line NOW.
Seriously like they said in the 80's "take a Chill Pill"
I'll be self-medicating. Jack and Coke, anyone?
choosing to wait until he actually enrolls somewhere may be the best decision at this point in time
Please dont toy with my emotions like this.
On the offhand chance Dee or anyone else facing a difficult life decision reads this - I'd like to say something:
Dee, Michigan is great. It's a wonderful place and you will have a blast. Even if Rodriguez leaves, you are deadly enough to be used by any coach with a brain, and that includes Harbaugh. If you play hard and act with integrity you will be loved here no matter how your playing career goes.
But: if you feel better at Alabama or Auburn or even somewhere more local - GO THERE. This is the most important decision of your life so far (probably!) and it's most important to feel good and be happy than to be worried about disappointing people. This is YOUR choice - nobody else's.
I liked this
This is one decision where you need to be completely self interested.
I read on another forum that not only is Dee leaning blue, but UM is also back in the fold for Haha. Has anyone else heard this?
I have not, but I plan to spread this rumor recklessly.
I enjoy a good dose of recklessness!
I just got a boner...Tell me more!
Gentleman of the blog- let me take care of this. I know Dee reads this blog and that he takes everything that I post very seriously........so here we go. Dee- you should commit to Michigan. Become a Michigan man. It will change your life. There- it is a done deal.
form the sound of this board you are loved already.
And maybe someday Tracy Morgan will like his Deey-Dee juice.
I really hope this is true.
I can't imagine how well RR would be recruiting at Michigan if he had one non controversial season. How does he get guys like Dee Hart under the circumstances. He and his staff are great recruiters. If he happens to make it one more season, and Michigan has a 9 wins or better then lookout. The ball will be rolling and we will again be a perennial top 10 team.
Their recruiting is great as long as you don't count defense and special teams.
Show some Hart Dee, we need you Big time at the House!
Just got off the phone with his sister Melissa Joan Hart. She said to stop calling and has no idea who Dee Hart is. I followed that up with a YOU AREN"T FOOLING ME SABRINA.
Lots of Hart's in the phone book but I'll keep trying.
made enough else laugh as much as it made me laugh, but I'd +2 this if I knew how
I absolutely love Dee's running style and stats, and from all the interviews/comments I've read, I think he's a level-headed, smart, respectful person who is lucky to be surrounded by caring friends and family. I know he'll make the decision that HE thinks is right, and hopefully doesn't let outsiders (other than close friends and family) influence him, whether it be by negative recruiting, promise of playing time (as RR says, all you can do is promise that he'll have a chance to *compete* for playing time), or more unscrupulous methods.
What I have to keep telling myself is that a lot can change until someone is on campus, and thus we should not get too down if someone says they're heading somewhere else, and likewise we shouldn't all get too high if someone says that he might re-commit. It's fun to speculate and hope for good recruits, but let's try to stay away from huge mgoboard mood swings.
Dee -- do what you and your family think is best, and follow what your heart and brain tell you to do. Nobody can fault you if that's what you do.
