Dee Hart Officially Gone/To Bama

Submitted by DGDestroys on

Just received this tweet from URecruit's Jeff Contizano

Orlando FL. RB Demetrius Hart has eliminated Michigan. Down to Auburn and Alabama.

So the most dramatic recruitment that I can remember is over. In a way, this is almost a relief.

EDIT: I don't have premium, but there appears to be an article on the front of Rivals that suggests the same.

EDIT EDIT: He then promptly turned around and committed to Bama?

Looks like Hart has already committed to bama.

Just got off the phone with a source and Dee Hart has committed Alabama.

Evidently he's wanted to for a while now?

I love to see a kid like Dee Hart want to commit to a school so bad and that school finally accept it. He is ecstatic and I just love that!

Also, see comment from JC3 further down the thread.

the chance to play at school that might get hit by the ncaa, or play at school where you could end up on a medical scholarship because the coaches don't think your good enough... yeah i can see why he would want to go to either school... peace and love dee i hope that it works out for you where ever you end up at...

Would have loved to see him play here. And maybe JH will draw Dee back into the fold.

That being said, the news is also kind of a relief. Can't blame the kid for being uncertain, given the cc uncertainty. But the back-and-forth was getting over the top. Dee obviously likes the game within the game. More power to him. Godspeed.

JH has landed three blue-chip backs this recruiting season. I'm pretty sure he'll find a good one for us. Michigan, under JH, should be more attractive to bigger, more classically NFL-sized backs. That M has sent a zillion backs to the NFL, and that JH turned Toby G into a Heisman candidate, will not be lost on recruits.

Well it is HIS future and it is HIS choice to make. LMAO @ the people so quick to do a 180 and start criticizing the kid for looking out for HIS best interests (whether you agree with it or not).

Anyone who criticizes this kid for doing what is best for him is being an ass. This is even more obvious than Mallett's decision to leave. I sincerely hope Denard stays, but if he leaves, I hope we don't make disparaging comments about him.

no one player is bigger than the university of michigan. were one of the most storied programs in the nation and winningest in history so I'm sure we will have plenty more recruits of Dee's caliber in the future. Good luck to the kid

Wonder if he knows sometihng about what's going on at Michigan that we do not?  Sad to see him go, maybe that means Hayes won't be a slot ninja after all.  Oh well.  I wish Dee success where ever he goes (except in Dalls in 2012 if he goes to Bama).

This kid has been toying with his recruitment for far too long. It would appear he never really fell in love with Ann Arbor or the Michigan tradition.
<br>All the best to you Dee Hart but there are many other excellent recruits who love this program and would be honored to play here.

...and he is making the right decision.

Look, Hart is amazing, but he simply won't fit into a Harbaugh offense.  He will be better off almost anywhere.

Best wishes, hopes he has a good career.

Once we find out the direction that the program is heading we should see alot of movement.

I can't wait until we can be done rebuilding and start bashing heads again.

i feel like this is the first piece of tangible evidence that RichRod is out, regardless of whether JH takes the job or not.

It feels like Brandon had a talk with RR after the game and basically told him that it was over.

And I bet you Dee called RR after the game to see what was going on.  It's only fair for RR to tell Hart the truth.  Hence Dee drops Michigan.

I just hope we don't get Glen Mason'ed (i.e. end up with someone worse after an embarrassing bowl loss).

Tangible evidence of what?   You think Brandon maintained his silence for a month, then gave a "hint" to RR what he was going to do?  And that RR told a 17 year old kid before he told his own team?

Do you people give so much credence to rumors and conjecture in your own lives?

Maybe, just maybe, Dee Hart made a decision that didn't involve inside information on the CC.

Instead of "good riddance, didn't want to play for the ZOMG GREATEST PROGRAM EVAR" classless crap, how about a "good luck, you're sure to be a good player"? Recruits no doubt read this blog, and if they're on the fence about possibly attending U of M having them see this garbage because someone didn't commit won't help them make a decision to go to U of M at all; doubtless they're probably  thinking worse will happen if/when they come to Michigan and don't produce.  I've never understood the hate and the booing some people get from those in the stands...like any of you could do better.

And maybe, just maybe, Michigan isn't the program everyone on this board and everyone wearing Maize and Blue thinks it is anymore...it isn't the 1990s anymore.  But go ahead, stay classless, and neg the crap out of me for stating half this board is inhabited with slobs and classless pigs.  Unreal.  Go root for MSU or OSU or even more relevantly ND with an attitude like that.

That Dee attended their bowl practices all week, which is a recruiting violation which could make Dee ineligible to play for Alabama.

Here is an old link from Purdue's web site

with the way his recruitment has gone, i think we'll get another crack at him in a week or two.  in 10 days we'll know who our coach is next year and we'll have a chance to bring him back into the fold.

For those of you with nothing better to do or a boring local NFL game, the Underamour practice is on ESPNU.  Checking out Vaughters and Carlisle.

Usually, new coaches don't bring too many commits.  But if JH comes, I think it will be different for 2 reasons:

1) Both Stanford and Michigan are very similar in that they combine outstanding Football and Academic traditions.  This makes the transitioon much easier for the kid and his family.

2) Many of Harbaugh's recruits are not CA guys.  He is a national recruiter --> his top commits are GA, NJ, and TX.  This would make it easier to bring a few to Michigan which already has a presence in those areas.

I'm not saying we would get 5 or 6 commits.  But if JH could bring along maybe 2-3 (Vaughters, Sarao, and even Montgomery), that would be a huge success.

I agree which is why I said if you have nothing boring to do, the practice is on TV, more so to watch top recruits whether they are committed or not.  I would have said Michigan recruits but I don't think there are any there.  I think they are all at the Army game.

Since Harbuagh is a possibility, just a friendly reminder or what may be possible.  Not getting my hopes up.

While upsetting at first, it is not the end of the world. Michigan needs to rebuild again and hopefully whoever our coach is deserves an opportunity to turn things around. RR did a decent job with what was given to him but I think he did not do a good job in selecting his coaching staff. Defense was horrible. The entire Defense staff needs to be overhauled. I would like to see us keep the spread offense though as it would be a real shame to lose Denard. I just hope that attrition will be minor in comparison to what it has been in the last 3 years. It is tough times like this that bring out the character in people. We must support our team 100% and have confidence that we will return to national prominence again. When we do it will make it that much sweeter. Michigan is a great school and will always attract top talent. There will always be another Dee Hart type player next year. Best of luck to Dee Hart. Now we can focus our attention on our team and support those who choose to stay or plan to come 100%.

I'm honestly getting sick of this guy.  Latest tweet:

"I love to see a kid like Dee Hart want to commit to a school so bad and that school finally accept it. He is ecstatic and I just love that!"

Last time I checked, Dee picked Michigan AFTER having a Bama offer.  They make it sound like Dee wore his Glen Coffee jersey every day back in HS.

Can't blame him I guess but man that stings. I just hope this whole coaching thing is resolved quickly because it really sucks and gets worse every day.

I just love how everyone wants to kiss up to this high school kid.  You truly have no idea if this kid will be a boom or a bust and people on this board and in the Michigan community will totally freak out that he is not coming here.

I guess there will be no other running backs in the country that could possibly come here.

And all the current players will leave, right?   Because any time a coach leaves a program EVERY player and EVERY recruit leave.

Step off the ledge.....Richie's gotta go.
