Dee Hart Love

Dee Hart 17th ranked player in Rivals Top 100

Four other players were seriously discussed when it came to five-star status but still fell a bit short. However, each of them will have an opportunity to seal the deal with additional senior film evaluation and all-star game performances. Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips running back Demetrius Hart jumped 20 slots to be the highest-rated four-star prospect in the land. Rivals.com National Analyst Barry Every saw Hart, a Michigan commitment, in person this year and came away impressed.

"Dee Hart is the best back I have seen in person this season," said Every, who has seen many of the top backs in the country in games this year. "He is dangerous in space and catches the ball like a receiver. Hart is ideal for that Michigan offense, he's probably a better receiver than most of the guys they have already and he's perfect for the spread."

maybe he is talking about how, even though our passing game was NUTS this weekend, our receivers and running backs continue to drop a lot of easy passes and drive us crazy!! This weekend I seem to remember Shaw, Stonum, and Roundtree each dropping easy grabs. Though, it was better this weekend then I has been vs. MSU, Iowa, and Penn St.

Roundtree and Hemingway got most of the catches Saturday and I seem to remember them having some key drops in the losses.  I think the point he's trying to make is that he can come in here now and be a great threat out of the backfield or split out wide.  I'll take that.

I interpret that to mean Hart's a better receiver than most of our current running backs, which may be valid since I haven't been particularly impressed by our RB production in the passing game, whether that's due to ability to play calling.

Nice to see him jump that many spots evn after his commitment.  That usually doesn't happen, so it just goes to show how bad-ass of a year he is having for his team.  Nice work Dee!  Looking forward to seeing what you can do once you get your wings!

JC3, you have peaked my interest.

You said :

Michigan is in the top 2 for four of these players.. things are looking very good for as far as I'm concerned..

I am sure on 3 of the guys, Watkins, Frost and Zettel.  The fourth one gets interesting.  I want to say it's Jernigan.

If we could land the Watkins/Crawford package deal, Zettel or Hobbi (O-Line depth you see), and Jernigan, I would be ecstatic.

Frost seems like one of those classic guys who has freak athletic gifts but no real position on the field.

Arnett would be a huge grab, but isn't as necessary as O-Linemen and Defensive players especially if we get Watkins.

Dee Hart is a baller,a gamechanger which is what this offense needs at the RB postion. He is enrolling early, which will only help his chances of getting serious playing time.Along with Stephen Hopkins i hope,Michigan we have a hell of a one two punch. He's gotta get that fifth star right?

By judging from the Rivals 100 2010, Dee will get his 5th star soon. Also Sammy Watkins has a very good chance getting a fifth star.

I hope the "RR cant get 5 star" people or any star gazer is happy now...

Does Dee run track at Doc Phillips?  He obviously won't be there this spring for track, as he'll be a Michigan Wolverine, getting ready for spring football.  Just wondered whether he might be another Denard, running the 60 meters in indoor track.

Someone needs to find a comfy spot in a tree across the street from Dee's house with a high-powered rifle and keep a close lookout for NFL agents...

I'm most excited about what Dee will do for our Special Teams and Return game. We've shown pretty much no ability to change field position with our returns (save for the nifty trick play reverse by Stonum Saturday). That means we've constantly been getting the ball at our 25 and having to go on long drives. If we go 3-and out, the defense is facing a short field. Having someone who can change the field position, a la Steve Breaston, will be huge for our already explosive offense and help a great deal for what should be a much improved defense. And Jeremy Gallon Fails will just go away to all of our delight.

Edit: Saying I'm "most excited" for what he can do on ST is an overstatement. I'd love to see him in the backfield with Denard forming a dynamite tandem, but what he can do to our return game would be huge.

With an offense like Michigan's, field position of offense doesn't really mean much.  If Hart becomes "THE" back, he will add even another dimension to an already ridiculous offense.  Oregon may not have their unofficial "crown" for being the best offense for very long.

I get what you're saying, we can score from anywhere on the field. But still, we don't score on every possession and having a little less pressure on our offense to consistently go on long drives will only make them that much more explosive.

Totally agree with you on Oregon having their "crown" for 2 more months because this offense will make every defense we play look silly next year.

I know we gave up a lot of points, but the Illinois game made it clear our D is improving.

Look at guys like Vinopal and Avery, true freshmen in the game playing well.  No doubt the experience they have this fall will be built on during the off-season, making them solid contributors, if not starters, next fall.  Look at Cam Gordon, RS frosh, we knew he needed to be on the field, but where he was needed originally wasn't where he fit best.  Now he's been moved and looking much better.

Look at Demens, he went from a forgotten 4-star to a guy starting 6 games before he takes over the roll for good next fall.  Guys like JB Fitz, Herron, MRob, Black, pre-injury Mike Jones - these are all guys getting reps this year who will be asked to step up as returning players next fall.

We lose Mouton and DL depth, that's it.  Throw in the return of Woolfolk and Floyd at CB and a handful of true-frosh contributors (more in the Jibreel Black college ready mold rather than the Courtney Avery disappearing depth mold) and our defense should almost certainly get better.
