Dee doesn't like the RB log jam?

This is alabama's depth chart at RB per rivals

22 Mark Ingram | 5-10, 215, Jr., 2V
   3 Trent Richardson | 5-11, 224, So., 1V
 42 Eddie Lacy | 6-0, 212, Fr., RS
   6 Demetrius Goode | 5-9, 191, Jr., 1V

Ingram may jump to the pros, leaving Trent Richardson as the #1 guy.  And every batman needs a robin.

This is our depth chart w/out Dee

RB (6 + 2) J. Hayes F. Toussaint*
S. Hopkins
M. Cox*
V. Smith
T. Jones
M. Shaw

There are a lot of guys on this list, and Fred Jackson loves them all.

It is entirely possible he likes his chances at Alabama better

Also, it seems as if Alabama uses more a feature back offense whereas we use a ton of subs.

This could have nothing to do with anything other than a kid making a decision on playing time.

Uh...So, if he likes the spread so much why would he go to Alabama? And if he likes the pro-style offense that Saban runs, why wouldn't he stay here for Harbaugh? And how is committing to Bama a guarantee that you play in a system that he loves considering he could get cut if he doesn't perform his first year?

I would say its a combo of:

1) Coaching uncertainty

2) Losing the last two games pretty badly

3) (You know how we wanted Dee to help snake oil HaHa) We got snake oiled by Saban and HaHa.

I don't blame Dee for anything if bama is his choice, that's just how recruiting goes.

He liked Michigan for the academics and he felt at home because Ricardo and his family are here. He never said he only wanted to play for RR and only his system. I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes. We will move on. Losing 1 recruit, no matter the talent level, will not make or break us.

As far as academics go, Of cours Dee "said" competition doesn't matter, Academics are #1 yada yada yada...  thats what all recruits say, even the ones that go to OSU.  Its lip serice because it sounds good.  They read what we say, what other recruits say, the reaction to all the sound bites and then they just say the same things that get the good reactions.  I can't be the only one that understood that Dee wanted to be the next Slanton/Devine no matter what his quotes were...  can I ?

It wouldn't surprise me if Alabama used the commitment of Justice Hayes and the pursuit of Rawls as leverage but our coaches should be able to clear that up in a hurry. I don't think Dee is afraid of competition - the kid just dominated Florida HS Football.

He'd be a contender for carries next year and I imagine the front-runner every year after that if he stayed healthy (no he's not personally known for injuries but all Michigan RBs are for some reason)

Dee Hart isn't afraid of competition from the guys committed/on our roster.

And if he is, we only need to show him the production from Vincent Smith and Michael Shaw to convince him that he could be an upgrade.

It's not about the depth chart.

denard had 245 att

I'm not going to argue that our deployment of running backs was intelligent.

However, seeing that neither Smith nor Shaw was very effective, I think there's room for a 20-carry guy, especially because Denard SHOULDN'T be running the ball 20 times a game, on average.

Yeah I have to agree with magnus, our guys just weren't effective enough to remove Denard from carrying the ball 20+ times in some cases. I think that will definitely change next year whether Dee Hart is in the stable or not, but I doubt that would be a reason for his decommit.

LOL

Yeah, Dee Hart isnt afraid of anything. He's a kid. Having second thoughts about his one choice for a college. I was just going to study, and I changed my mind on college about a dozen times as a HS senior. Cant imagine having all the options the football players.

I couldnt bring myself to jump in the main thread on this topic, but I'm with you on this that it sucks, but its not the end of the world. Hardly. Still, for old times sake, can I get a little 'no worries, we only lost our fourth string running back'

I really want Dee Hart to say committed to Michigan, but things happen.  That said, I'm really pumped up about our backs... to start the season, I thought this was our best position, and I may have been wrong, but i also think they underachieved.   I will still expect big things from this group next year.

Vince Smith came around, he wasn't a home run threat per se, but he was solid.  Hopkins has a promising future if we use him well.  Two if's for Touissant... IF he can stay healthy, and IF he can live up to half the hype... we will all be pleased.
