Decent News: Mo Hurst "thinks he wants a 5th year"

Submitted by Blue Crab on

Worm speculated positively on this a week or more ago, and now something from Maurice himself.

Not a done deal, wants to talk with family & coaches after the season but sounds hopeful based on this quote:

'Asked whether he was leaning one way, Hurst said: “I think I want to stay for a fifth year and pursue a master's degree. I think that’s something that would be a little bit heavier sway towards.

“I just love playing here. It’s been everything I’ve imagined, especially this past two years of winning so many games. Just the atmosphere and everything on campus has been great. The coaches are great, and they’ve done a great job of helping improve players. That’s something that I’ve noticed. I’ve been able to get a lot better under them.” '

I understand your point, but it could be taken incorrectly at first blush.  This is a small positive sign with respect to an outcome that would be fantastic.  Maybe "encouraging" news?

I think Mo Hurst was a jumbo talback in high school and have waiting for him to line up in the backfield close in the red zone. He'd be a monster to stop and bring down.

That would be massive from a football standpoint. He's been one of our best DL all season. Would be a big boost for depth next season and ease pressure on true freshmen from contributing on the interior.

With Gary and Winovich being faster DE's, we're going to need some size on the interior D-Line, I hope Mo stays! We don't have much size behind him on our depth chart

I've also been underwhelmed with Mone's season as a whole. I know he was coming off a season-long injury and he got injured in week 1 vs Hawaii, but I haven't seen much from him at all this year. Hurst is a desperately needed veteran for the middle of our D Line. With that said, guys like Aubrey Solomon and Jay Tuefele would be huge gets.
