#Michigan commit scheduled to take official elsewhere http://michigan.247sports.com/Board/59424/Michigan-commit-scheduled-to-take-official-elsewhere-15422455 via @247Sports #Wolverines

Paywalled. Let the hand-wringing over "The Policy" recommence.

[Ed-Ace: This was debunked by Tremendous, Sam Webb, and TomVH. So... probably no need to worry, methinks.]

Per the above link, Poggi is schedule to visit Alabama.

If true, this would be at least his 3rd visit to Alabama (first official), which, as I recall, was the other serious contender for his services, but he chose Michigan for "academics."

Weird because I talked with him shortly after his official to Ann Arbor a couple weeks ago with the rest of the class. He said he had a blast and that it reaffirmed why he chose Michigan in the first place. I'll try to get in contact with him to see if it's legit.

Anyone remember Poggi's quote about how his decision would be set in stone because he viewed going back on it as dishonorable (or some other adjective I can't remember)?

Even if true, is there really reason to panic?  As long as Poggi is upfront with Hoke, Dawson's recommitment pretty much ended any reason to "fear" the no-visits policy.

I think if there's one thing we can count on, it's this -- there's no better coach in America at the heart-to-heart talk with a player than Hoke.

Hoke is no dummy.  He'll have that talk with Poggi to see what's going on in the kid's mind and heart.  Hoke has shown a remarkable ability to understand and connect with his players at that level.

My guess is Hoke would rather have a player who commits to Michigan fully rather than harbors a regret for not having explored more fully.  If Poggi has that lingering in his heart and he's honest with Hoke about it, my guess is Hoke tells Poggi to listen to his heart and do what he has to do.  But here's the key -- there'd likely be no malice in Hoke's words, tone or message.  That's why players respond to Hoke and are willing to go to such lengths for him

Apparently Poggi expressed interest in visiting Texas A&M a while back (before Dawson rejoined the class), but I doubt he visits now as they are pretty much full and expecting even more commits.

What is this BS?  Witfong is reporting from the Army game.  Poggi is at the UA game.   I don't have a 247 subscription but you better have one and can show a Witfong quote or you're going to Bolivia.

Join me, on a trip down bad memory lane:

It went ok from what I'm hearing. I don't think Alabama fits his personality as well as Michigan does. I've said this before, but I think Michigan has a clear lead on him. Poggi is a smart kid, his parents also want him to go to a highly rated academic institution. In terms of ratings and football tradition, Michigan would be hard to beat Michigan for Poggi. If he does sign with the Tide, then Saban clearly sold him on his pro potential. -Roll Damn Tide, 4/30/2012
