from death throes to grave robbery... the metaphors to define our decline

Submitted by jdon on

my wife and I were trying to come up with the best metaphors to describe what watching michigan football feels like when we came up with a new game: title the 2014 michigan football DVD

The best we could come up with is:

"From death throes to grave robbery: Brady Hoke digs deeper down into the levels of hell"

Maybe you guys and gals would care to play as well?  I mean, if we can't win games at least we can share wit.

For those that remember "The Super Dave Osborne Show", specifically the rather disastrous (but comically so) "Touchdown To Dollars" episode...the stunt itself sums it up nicely.

It started with App State in 2007.
It continued during the RR era.
And it still shows it's ugly head under Hoke.
For the love of Bo/Mo/Lloyd, bring in a coach who can stop the bleeding and remind-show people again why Michigan is college football winningest program.

I don't understand why there's so much outpouring of shit this morning. what exactly did you expect, people? This team is shitty and on any given play 5-6 things go wrong. This is not a team that just needs a little spark or motivation to get on track. they are a bad football team going on the road to play a very good team. We don't need more letters to the Regents or POTUM. We don't need metaphores for the season. I suggest you all figure something else out to do on Saturdays from here on out. That's my plan and it's working beautifully. call me when the season ends and a PC is scheduled. Until then, I've heard it all before and nothing is new.

He's a bad coach on a skills and fundamentals level, that's pretty much a given.

The one thing allot of people claim and he purports is that he is a father to all 115 of his sons.  Not so fast.....

Where was the "Dad" yesterday taking that spike out of Bolden's hand and teaching his "son"  a life lesson that you first prove yourself it in your actions before you earn the right to open your mouth.

Finally - when you do open your mouth, you act and speak with dignity and class like the school your are representing.

Instead we get a mumbly non answer - no ownership or leadership.

On my kid's hockey team, if anyone showboats during warm ups - they sit a shift. If they showboat after scoring a goal - they sit a shift.  If they jaw off to a ref - they sit a shift.

These kids are 10 - why isn't our coach isn't instilling this behaviour into a bunch of 20 year olds beyond me and is another  tell of what is wrong with the program.

Edit - We tell our kids all the time to act like you've been here before. I realize emotion plays a huge part in motivation and performance - epsecially at a young age -  but when one draws strength or motivation from a wrong or misguided source of inspiration, it is not sustainable and is more than likely going to fail. True motiviation is in the desire to succeed and the quiet confidence that you can do it.

So, you've "heard it all before and nothing is new?"  That's exactly how I feel about the product on the field.  As a matter of fact, the product on the field is so old that everyone on the other team knows where the ball and the personnel are going before the QB does.

I hope people vent even more and that it gets to the president and trustees.
