DeAnthony Arnett: Army All American
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1145716
Says he will take 3 visits and decide in November. Took 1st visit to Cal, 2nd visit to USC and 3rd visit is a mystery that will shock people.
I still think he heads west, but it would be a step in the right direction to get him on campus.

Not holding my breath on this one, but congrats to Arnett anyway for getting invited.

That MHSAA rule is the dumbest rule in the history of dumb rules.
October 29th, 2010 at 3:46 PM ^
getting an official from an in-state prospect (especially of that caliber) is a big deal. very impressive if it's us. hope he's coming for Illinois and get back in that race.

Guys with Michigan offers:
Kris Frost
Avery Walls
Miles Shuler
Lamar Dawson
October 29th, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
FYI, Arnett and Walls were both out on an OV to Cal last weekend. Walls is now VERY interested in MSU. You can read between the lines on that one.
October 29th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
Do you have a source for Avery's interest in MSU, or is it just another lame Sparty troll post.
October 29th, 2010 at 9:09 PM ^
The information about Arnett and Walls being out at Cal last week I put together on my own.
Avery Walls himself is the source that says he is VERY interested in MSU...and yes, he told it to a person within the MSU program, because, well, it would have been a weird thing to mention to someone in the UM program.
Take it or leave it, it doesn't matter. This one will hurt twice: once when he eliminates UM, and again when he commits to MSU...just like Arnett.
Btw, Zettel is moving towards MSU as quickly as he's moving away from UM...again, don't believe it if it will ruin your weekend, but prepare yourself nonetheless. At best, that one will only hurt once.
October 29th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
I hate to say it, but you may be on to something about Walls. I stated on other threads that he seemed like a strong lean since he was recruiting Drew for us. I am not sure how strong his interest is in MSU, but I am more worried about Oregon.
Love to get Arnett, but I don't expect it. I would love to have Walls and I think he should be priority number 1.

How happy will us Michigan fans be when they make their decisions?
Edit: What if I were to say that all 3 of them will commit to Michigan? What % wrong would I be?
October 29th, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
Well, would you like to put your credibility on the line here? It certainly seems like you're revered around here.
Let's be specific, are YOU actually saying that MSU will not land ANY of Arnett, Walls or Zettel? Are you ACTUALLY saying that you "KNOW 100%", that you are correct on that?
I get that you're somewhat connected, and respected on here, but I don't visit the board enough to know how credible you are.
Feel free to share the details with us, since you "KNOW 100%" that none of them are going to MSU...or, backtrack, clarify your statement, or simply censor the truth I posted, and continue to sell crazy to the hungry masses here.
October 30th, 2010 at 12:14 AM ^
It seems like you are just playing dumbass troll here but since you apparently suck at reading, let me help you out. A very plausible reading of Tom's message is that he knows for sure that MSU will not land all 3 of them (as you claimed it will). Tom is well respected here (you are clearly not) so I am going to make a huge leap and conclude that you are just talking out of your butt.
October 30th, 2010 at 12:41 AM ^
"I know 100% you're wrong on all three. "
There is absolutely no way to interpret that the way you try to...not unless you just want to make excuses for Tom, who very obviously is wrong here.
The bottom line is this: I suspect Tom seems to get support here because he tells the masses what they want to hear, however ridiculous it may be. As payment for that service, the masses simply ignore how wrong Tom usually is. Again, I don't know that for sure, but that how it looks...there's a reason he won't specifically confirm what he said.
No offense to Tom if he really believes what he wrote, but time will show him to be wrong. I am 100% on that!
I just get the impression that he's selling crazy, because so many people come here looking for hope...desperate for a tonic that will let them see what they believe, instead of believing what they see.
Forgive me, but when guys like Sam Webb and Jon Chait are talked about as anything other than punch lines, I grow skeptical of any other purported "expert" that garners praise.
October 30th, 2010 at 12:47 AM ^
Btw, Zettel is moving towards MSU as quickly as he's moving away from UM
Do you honestly expect anyone to take you seriously after saying this? Just admit it, you come here to troll.
October 30th, 2010 at 1:00 AM ^
I realize it would be upsetting for people, but I'm not so cynical that I think they are incapable of accepting information that they don't like, or at the very least, acknowledging that UM is struggling in landing what was seen as a lock in Zettel.
So, I take it you think Zettel is blue? Why hasn't he commited? He grew up a UM fan, and has pressure from his family and coaches to commit....why is he spending so much time talking to other schools?
October 30th, 2010 at 1:44 AM ^
How do you know he hasn't committed already?
October 30th, 2010 at 1:57 AM ^
Well, if he has, the "commitment" is a bit one-sided, but from what I've been told, the assurances have never come from Zettel himself., despite what those close to him hope for..it's also an open rumor that those close to him have given up on getting him to UM, and the main focus is now just keeping him away from MSU, which was working somewhat until PSU took a nose dive this year. The kid knows what he wants, but some want to live his life for him.
October 30th, 2010 at 2:47 AM ^
I wonder if anyone other than you....in the world.....thinks that Zettel really wants to go to MSU but those around him are trying to talk him out of it and doing everything in their power to stop him. That could possibly be the dumbest thing I have ever seen posted on this board in the history of troll posts.

Voices in your head don't count as sources.

Tom, have you heard anything about MSU recruits reconsidering after the Rucker re-instatement and media reaction? Or is this just another case of the recruits not really paying attention to the media? It would be nice to hear that a big time 5 star LB is re-thinking his commitment to MSU.
October 29th, 2010 at 10:45 PM ^
Can we get rid of this Sparty troll already? He's obviously about as intelligent as a..well..a Sparty.
October 30th, 2010 at 2:53 PM ^
Rumors from rivals boards or RCMB are not sources.
October 29th, 2010 at 3:55 PM ^
It is my understanding that a prospect can take 5 official visits. Is that right? If so, why wouldn't someone of Arnett's caliber take all 5? I mean, its a free trip, right? Then again, I sure don't have time to take 5 trips in one year, let alone 3 so I'm not one to talk.
October 29th, 2010 at 4:13 PM ^
Because it's not as much a vacation as people make it out to be. A typical visit involves flying in Friday evening, spending most of Saturday meeting academic advisors and coaches (and watching the game if there is one), having some free time Saturday night, and then flying back Sunday. Doing all that and then going back to high school on Monday can be a drag. You could think of it as going on a weekend vacation where you have to spend half your time listening to a timeshare presentation. If you're not truly interested in committing, it's got to get old fast.
October 29th, 2010 at 4:44 PM ^
I was picturing blonde, Southern co-ed escorts in my mind when thinking about official visits. Ahhh, the good old days . . .
October 29th, 2010 at 4:04 PM ^
I'd be surprised if he chose UM, but who knows. Winning out would certainly help, or even winning the next 3 and maybe getting him in for Wiscy.
October 29th, 2010 at 4:10 PM ^
I was going to say for the Osu game then realized it was away this year.
October 29th, 2010 at 5:06 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing for a minute. Then realized it was Wiscy for the home finale.
October 29th, 2010 at 5:23 PM ^
I thought a lot of people were thinking he was a MSU lean. Suprised not to see them make the list.
October 29th, 2010 at 5:38 PM ^
I wouldn't rule MSU out just because he will not take an official there. Being from Saginaw he has plenty of opportunities to visit the in-state schools unofficially and has visited MSU several times I think. However I'm no recruitnik so who knows.
October 29th, 2010 at 5:45 PM ^
Good luck to Deanthony.
October 29th, 2010 at 6:15 PM ^
at Lamarr's football camp. After wishing him luck on his college career even though he had eliminated us he told me he was still talking with the coaches. He mentioned a friendship with Devin and how impressed he was with Denard's improvement. He also asked me a bunch of questions about where I thought the program was headed. Basically, said 8-4 and a bowl this year, competing for Big 10 championship in '11, and NC in '12 as the team was still really young and would be rolling in a couple years as long as RR was still here. I think he thought I was a little crazy.
Even though we were "eliminated" I got the feeling that we were still in the running. I have to believe it has helped our cause with the improvement we have had in the passing game. While MSU has seemed to regress from last year's pass happy O to more of a grind it out style.
October 29th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
Are you kidding me? Cousins is on pace to beat his last year passing total by over 100 yards. Do you always talk out of your ass?
October 29th, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
I don't know how a visit to a school could be "shocking."
I guess I would be shocked if it was a school like Boise State, or a school that isn't very good. But that is about it.
October 29th, 2010 at 7:39 PM ^
is that Boise State still can not get highly ranked recruits to go there. I know they are in the middle of Idaho but they win every game, are constantly in the media, and send guys to the NFL.
November 9th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
Not just Kentucky bluegrass blue, but stab-your-eyes-out blue. Could mess with a person for life, I'd think.
October 29th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
if he goes elsewhere. Sorry, but he would catch a lot a balls with the other skills getting so much attention. Plus a UM education. Your choice my friend. Good luck ... Go Blue !!!
October 29th, 2010 at 8:45 PM ^
that would look great wearing a #1 in a few years. It's a shame he eliminated us so early, still I hope he does well in the Army game and wish him luck at the school he chooses .
October 30th, 2010 at 7:08 AM ^
Wayne Lyons eliminated us and it looks like we might now get a visit. Johnson, the DT from Louisiana eliminated us and now we're slated to get a visit. DeAnthony eliminated us before this season and things may have changed from his perspective as the season unfolded. Being a WR, I could see how State would look attractive to him after their pass happy season last season. This year they're back to a grind it out style with less passing and all their backs are young.

Are there Navy or Air Force All Americans?
