Dead Period is Over

Submitted by detrocks on

So, the dead period for recruiting is over, meaning that the football staff can now visit with players.   If you're Brady Hoke, who is your first visit?    Also, if Tom VH is listening, do you know who BH's first vist was actually with?

I believe, correct me if Im wrong, that Hoke was allowed to make some contact with kids already to let them know the staus of their offer.

I also believe Zettel has stated he has reaffirmed his commitment to Penn State since the Michigan hiring.

Dee Hart was not one of the early enrollees. I checked Alabama's sports website. Could give us a chance with Dee, But I want Frost more than Hart! We got plenty of backs. Frost is more of a need!!!

he could make local visits in the next few days, but seems like finalizing his staff has to get done first. E.g., D recruits need to know who their D coordinator is, no? And wouldn't you want to send that guy out there if its someone like Beford or Austin, or at least join you on the visit?

Is Chris Singleton still around? Curious how this is all being coordinated. I feel for the new staff.  I doubt there's been a opportunity to look at current players on film much. How do you do a needs assessment, hire your staff, get a plan in place to try to fill out the class plus all the other stuff? Way too much to do in too short of time.  Ugh.

It would be helpful if someone with a thorough understanding of recruiting rules could comment on any limitations that might apply here in the recruiting home stretch.

For example, I understand that a head coach is only permitted one off-campus (in-home) visit per recruit. I assume that this means that Hoke can not visit any recruit who has previously been visited by Rodriguez. That would be unfortunate. It would be interesting to know who, among any wavering or potential recruits, Hoke is forbidden to meet with face to face.

I don't believe he is limited by RR, since he isn't RR.  Also was RR doing a lot of visiting over his last week anyway?

If they can get them on campus they can have as many face to face visits they want up until the next dead period

Coaches could call recruites this week, but  they were not allowed to do in home recuiting.  I think it had something to do with the coaching convention.
