Well shit....I'm off the wagon, clearly dilfer was right.
Overhyped before doing anything.... Pause not... He is a good QB, but many are, and always need to take a big leap to be good in college.
A lot commits in action tonight.
From Matt Durr doing a chat on mlive...the DLS oline is still a problem that Morris has to deal with that was a problem last year.
He appears to be rusty. His team does have a 7-0 lead.
Its tougher when you actually have guys rushing at you instead of a timer like they do in 7 on 7's. Might take a bit to get back to game speed.
I'm gonna jump the gun here and be the guy that goes too far. Couldn't we say the same thing about Henne's career? He had a great arm, but the accuracy just wasn't there at crucial points.
Yeah, I'm going to throw a flag for excessive premature complaining on this post. The kid is struggling a tiny bit in his game of the season. Let's not start questionning his accuracy given the fact he has shown great accuracy for most of his career.
Hopefully he is not one of a group of Avon football players that were suspended for breaking team rules
Avon D1 recruits ross douglas (michigan) and ralph smith (ball st) are not playing vs avon lake. no reason has been given.
to Wangler. 21-0 De La Salle.
I don't care what the deal with your OL is.. 5 stars are supposed to be surefire kids who dominate games... Not saying Shane blows, but the later rocket arm at camps just doesn't do as much for me as playing real football...wish te ranking services didn't blow these camps out of the water like they are the super bowl
I don't know how anyone can come to any conclusion yet on his play.
So you make big.
Plus, it's apparently 21-0. So... yeah.
You're an idiot, that's all.
But a game that depends on 10 other people to do their jobs is the best indicator? The point of camps is that everyone is on an equal playing field. But I'm sure depending on a bunch of other people who will never sniff a college field is the true test.
is a good combo. I really hope jack wangler takes a walk-on spot here next year.
I didn't say Morris blows, I think he's a great prospect, but I think expectations based on 7v7 and camps are just unreal...
The expectation started his sophomore year before any 7 on 7 when a 16 year old could throw 80 yards in the air.
Is he a 5 star again?
unreal. Michigan's coaching staff will be happy to learn that the incoming class needs coaching and practice. Their jobs are secure for another year!
Well, considering he was good enough for everyone in the world to rate him one of the best QBs in the class, it is pretty premature to claim he's overrated because he did even better at 7 v 7 drills.
Morris playaction pass to the flat for 7 yard TD. Now 7/14 with 2 TDs. Approaching 100 yards passing. DLS up 28-0, 1:44 left in 2nd
He started 2-9, has gone 5 of 5 with 2 TDs since. Nice to seem him start to play to the level we all know he can. Maybe some early nerves got to him? Regardless he's on track for 200+ yards and 4 TDs. That's a solid day no matter what, and if he plays like he has after the 2 for 9 start he can do even better.
Morris quickly goes 3/3 and has DLS at pioneer 25
Unnoficial Morris HT stats:
Halftime: Shane Morris is 10-for-20, 115 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT and DLS leads 28-0 -- he is 8-for-13 with 103 yards and 2 TD after dismal start.
Shane Morris now 14-for-25 for 178 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT midway through the third quarter.
When Shane Morris is on he is freaking on. After a slow start hes been tearing up Pioneer, which has been playing a nickel the entire time
After Morris led a surgical drive down the field, De La Salle’s RB punched it in from a yard out to make it 35-0. 4/5 for around 65 yards.
Gedeon fumbles hand off on third and goal from the two. Still 14-7 Hudson late in the third.
Our linebackers struggle with ball security. So... panic?
you're really f**kin' on
Was this game expected to be this lopsided? I thought Pioneer would be more competitive.
the 100 yd TD return when Pioneer was driving to tie it at 7 completely changed the game. Shane got hot and the rest is history.
New Prospect on the Radar?
Demar Dorseys lil brother, Eddie Jackson just scored on 82 yd td pass. Fly route. Blew by and ran away from Plant D. Kid can flat out run.
The beginnings of a YES FLY ZONE?!
Everyone needs to leave the game to make it home in time for the BTN Michigan preview. Why can't it be football season all year round?
Looks like the end of the night for Shane Morris with DLS up 35-0. He finishes 14-25 for 178 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT.
End of Morris's day. Not a great stat line, but after his shaky start, he seemed to impress the rest of the way.
Next week will get very interesting for Shane Morris. De La Salle travels to Ohio to take on powerhouse Cleveland St. Ignatius. Maybe his toughest game of the year.
From Stephen Nesbitt of Michigan Daily:
Man, the Morris hate in this thread is hilarious. Kid hasn't even stepped foot on campus yet and people are calling him overrated and saying he can't make the throws when it matters. It truly is a "what have you done for me lately" world.
Disgusting isn't it?
You act like everyone is ragging on Shane, only one poster criticized him.
I didn't make it out to be an encompassing statement from the board. I said "the morris hate in this thread is hilarious" - that could refer to any amount of hate. It was two posters that were trying to take definitive analysis from >one half of his first game of the year. I thought it was funny and my post was just an observation on their "evaluations"
With 2 flat out dogging him.
Ty Issac is on ESPNU. Wow u talk about playing against bad defenses, had 50 yard touchdown un touched but got hurt so is out the rest of the game with a knee injury, going to the hospital for X-ray. I don't think he's meant for the i-formation. He runs too high. There down 30-20 at the half, upset brewing!!!! 9 carries 67 yards but 50 on 1.
What were Shane's final stats?
14-25 for 178 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Started 2-9 for about 11 yards and a pick, didn't play most of the 4th it sounds like.
I attended the 1st half of the game. Morris played poorly in the 1st quarter, but played well the rest of the half. Pioneers secondary covered pretty well, and his receivers didn't get much seperation, so the meh stat line is to be expected.
His accuracy was pretty good -- the int was of the "I didn't see that guy there" variety. Most of his mistakes were bad decisions -- holding on to the ball for too long, throwing it to guys that were covered.
I wouldn't say he's a slam dunk to start at Michigan, but he has the tools. Great arm, showed some nice touch, decent mobility. Just needs to improve his decision making.
Anyway, that's my scouting report based on one half of football.
i am watching a high school football game for the first time on TV since the days Indiana had a public access channel.. Joliet Cath. vs prov cath.. Ty Issac injured 1st qtr ( pussy). Opposing RB is a stud.. Tomorrw D. Green plays along and Poggi on a ESPNU. Set you DVR.... Also, lets not get to dramatic about Shane Morris, holy smokes... Kids a stud.. Chill Out
Ty Isaac injured his pussy?
