I understand. I read the article as well. I just found that funny is all.

Copy and paste, huh. Just bcuz he copied and pasted doesnt mean the point is not valid.
What the hell are you talking about? I was not disputing his point. Nice try.
I don't think you know what "summarize" means.
I don't believe we've lost any ground with Zettel.......I think he's coming here and he's just waiting on see what happens with the coaches..........Zettel is a lock for us if RR stays.
Walls was openly recruiting for us and happened to be an EE candidate who needed to know what was going on before he enrolled. I am very surprised Dee Hart let that opportunity go in order to wait for DB and his lack of decisiveness. Dee worked his butt off for three and a half years so he could land on a campus early and he cares so much for RR that he is willing to let that go to wait out this horrible timeline... that is shocking to me and makes me respect Dee Hart, but question whether that is the best choice for his future. I wouldn't knock the kid at all for choosing another school at this point.
He's a tailback. Every offense that's ever been invented uses a tailback. (If anything, our tailbacks might see an expanded role in Harbaugh's offense, if he's the guy.)
Also, Fred Jackson is probably staying put regardless of what happens, which is huge. If a football team were family, the position coaches would be the fathers. The head coach would be a grandfather. Our tailbacks don't interact with RR that much. They interact with Jackson 20 hours a week.
Except your argument holds no water because Dee said he will be gone if RR is not the coach. If Harbaugh comes Dee will go elsewhere.
We'll see if it holds no water.
I realize he said that, but it would make no sense TOBY GERHART for Dee to leave if Jim Harbaugh became the Michigan head coach. This is doubly moreso now that his "other finalist," Florida, is going to be a more pro-style offense.
All we can go by is what Dee himself has said, which is he will not come here if RR is not here. The rest is speculation.
He said he would only stay if RR was retained so this is probably the fail of the thread.
When did he say this? I remember him saying the complete opposite earlier. Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised if he ultimately stuck around, for the same reasons above.
Ugh... I'm out of class now so I am not looking it up. It's a fact though.
And it was a "fact" in October that a coaching change wouldn't be an issue to him. He's a teenager. Guys his age change their minds a lot. I wouldn't make any broad assumptions here.
TomVH: Chris Hays from the Orlando Sentinel posted this article after talking to Demetrius Hart. The article says that Demetrius plans on staying committed to Michigan as long as Rich Rodriguez is the head coach. The shocker is this. If Rich Rodriguez is fired, Demetrius says he will end up at Florida, not Alabama.
I spoke with Chris about the article, and he felt that Demetrius was being genuine.

Really?! Do you sit in on meetings or something?
RR is responsable for over 100 players, and a dozen assistants/grad assistants. He can't interact with each one that much over a course of a day. The position coaches are the ones actually spending 20 hours a week with the players. That's how you get situations like Vlad Emilien's. He left here in a disgruntled huff, but made his stance clear: "I've got nothing against Coach Rod I love him."
has given RR ye olde high sign.
RR is doing a great job in spite of being handcuffed on some players by DB. Hopefully, we don't have to see what would happen if the feces contacts the rotary device on January 4.
If a CC should occur, UM's recruiting will win and lose some recruits. I would not expect the class to look like IU's or Purdue if a CC occurs. It still would probably ranked near what it is currently is. The UM brand plus the excitement of a new coach equals decent results.
One need only look at RR's first class. Many of those guys were LC recruits. So a coaching change does not mean all hell will break loose in regards to the recruiting class.
The same cannot be said of this board if such a thing occurs.
Honestly, I don't think the timeframe is killing recruiting, but how you can conclude that it isn't effecting recruiting at all is a little silly. You point to two people who signed during this time and are ignoring the handful that have openly said they were going to wait or committed elsewhere during the same period of time.
I guess what I am saying is I see your Countess and Morgan and raise you D. Hart, Crawford, Walls, Zettle, and a number of others.
Again, I am not going to say for certain what degree of significance this timeframe has, but to believe that it is having none given what we have seen over the past month is barrying your head in the sand a bit IMHE.
Yeah it's not killing recruiting, we'll still be able to field a team next year. Now whether or not Dee Hart will be on that team, only time will tell.
All we know for certain is that two kids have committed, and none have decommitted.
So let's just wait it out before we try to make any generalizations about whether this is hurting or not.
It certainly hurt with Walls. And it did cause a decommit. Dee Hart decommited and had the coaches running down there to meet with him to sure him up. You can't say it hasn't hurt recruiting because it obviously has.
Was it the deciding factor with Walls? You don't know.
Demetrius Hart didn't decommit. He's still committed. If we're making shit up around here, Doran Grant and Malcolm Brown were both committed to Michigan back in September, but they were terrified by the awesomeness of JT Floyd and Vincent Smith, so they backed off.
I didn't say it hasn't hurt recruiting. I challenge you to find where I said that.
Who is making shit up? That's what happened. Dee told everyone he was going to Alabama and was going to announce it after his game a couple Fridays ago. The M coaches got wind and went to set things strait.
You said we were making wild generalizations about how it hurt recruting. I would consider all of these points factual and very specific. I challenge you to bring a single fact to the table instead of just, well, making wild generailizations.
Right. So he never decommitted. Thanks for proving yourself wrong.
What wild generalizations am I making? That we should wait until sometime down the road before judging whether "the timeline" hurt Michigan or not? Yeah, that's pretty wild.
Why don't you understand, Magnus? Your logic has no place here on MGoBoard, where every day is PANIC DAY.
What does it matter if Zettel and Frost are "Blue by now"? The only thing that matters is who's "Blue" in February.
I swear, the calendar matters more to fans than it does to players, coaches, the AD, etc - and the fans are the least important variable in the equation!
The only thing that matters is who's "Blue" in February.
Not to EE candidates.
If you're going to have a cry-athon about missing out on an early enrollee, then you're way too overconcerned.
Hart is a running back. He can come in and learn the offense just fine; he's a smart kid. In case you haven't noticed, two freshman running backs started in 2008 (McGuffie, Shaw), one freshman started in 2009 (Smith), and another earned significant playing time in 2010 (Hopkins). Running back is possibly the easiest position in which to come in and contribute immediately.
A cry-a-thon? This whole post is about how we may or may not have missed out on recruits due to DB and his lack of decision making skills. I am pulling facts that prove we are missing out because of it. Cry-a thon? That's fucking clownish. Nice post.
And you don't know whether we're losing recruits because of it or not. So yeah, if you're bitching about it, it's a cry-athon.
Two years ago we went through very similar moaning and groaning because Shavodrick Beaver decommitted right around Christmas, and the whole board screamed, "Woe is me!" I told everyone to chill and let things play out.
Who did we get to replace Beaver in the class?
The kid who finished 6th in the Heisman voting this year.
So...ummm...yeah. It's not February. Chill.
Last year when Denard ran track, and people freaked out and said it was proof that Denard and the staff knew he would never make it as a QB, I told everyone to chill and let things play out. Damn, the cleverness of me, aren't I something special. I was the only one on this board with a lick of sense. Literally the entire board freaked out except yours truly. WOW
I can understand why people get so interested in recruiting and it is interesting to watch it play out over the year up until signing day, but regardless of where the overall class ranking is or the individual star ranking of various players, all you know on signing day is who you get, not necessarily 'what' you get.
Until the recruits step on the field, which in most cases under normal condition is 1-2 (possibly 3) years after signing day, we only have the vaguest notion of 'quality' based on a ranking system for high school athletes that involves and extremely arcane set of criteria.
it probably helps that the Michigan situation is not as uncertain as it normally would be in a potential CC scenario.
There is really not that much uncertainty. The coach will be either Rich Rodriguez or Jim Harbaugh. That's it.
Recruits can pretty much decide for themselves right now if they think they can live with either of these two coaches and their staffs.
RR's confident, adroit handling of this uncertain situation, regarding his coaching status, is reassuring and impressive, I have to believe recruits are picking up on it and positively affected.
Really, in one sense, what does RR have to lose? If RR is not retained, he gets a nice buyout and will immediately become a hot commodity on the coaching circuit. RR can take a siesta for a season and have his pick of whatever plum coaching gigs open up.
RR's handling of QB's, footballs premium position, has been nothing short of fantastic. Pat White's development at WV and Denard's development at M, are gigantic resume' stocking stuffers. Who wouldn't want a coach who possesses the vision to recognize such talent and the acumen to cultivate it.
Is it possible that some of these kids are committing to Michigan at this time because they wouldn't mind playing for either Rodriguez or Harbaugh and they believe one of them will be the coach. I would find it difficult to commit anywhere without knowing my position coach, coordinator, or head coach. On the other hand if I had reason to believe that it would be a high quality crew regardless of any possible change, then the university takes on additional importance.
If Dee doesn't enroll early and richrod keeps his job how unfair would that be.
He said, she said, Rivals said, Magnus says, His Dudness says, et al.......
Only time and February will tell us anything definite for sure.....You guys can all argue until the cows come home, but the data will not truly be available until LOI day.....
Meanwhile, joust away my friends, joust away!
When do the cows come home and where in the hell have they been. I can truefully say, in all my years on planet earth, never have witnessed a group of cows heading home after a night on the town. I have seen cows, and pigs for that matter, grouped together on box cars, but it never occurred to me they might be headed home, in fact I usually start humming Taps at that point.
In the evening,. having roamed the pastures all day, the cows come home to the barn where they get fed ahy every night....I know, a very midwestern farm boy kind of thing, but here in flyover country we do have a lot of land that cows graze on....
Or, maybe it is the wild and drunken females who leave the bars at 2 am in A2 after the bright lights come on, maybe that is the kind of cow you city boys are more familiar with! :0)
