And for anyone who watched Comedy Central's roasts, Greg Giraldo died after falling into a coma from od'ing on RX drugs. The guy was hilarious but it seems that's they way comedians do it. Maybe they CC can get Taylor Lewan to take his place on the roasts?

Fishman, mentioned below, is Sims's lawyer. Seems like MSU hasn't said anything about his status.

Although the felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, it sounds like Sims, who has no prior record, could receive just probation and a fine. It will be interesting to see how Michigan State handles his situation going forward.

Fishman said the deal is unlikely to allow Sims to rejoin the football team this year, but he may be allowed to play next season.

The Spartans program took a lot of heat -- justifiably, in my view -- for allowing running back Glenn Winston to rejoin the team the day he was released from jail, a decision that backfired big time with the residence hall assault in December.

Others were a little more hit and miss but overall were funny too.  I'll miss him but still make it appointment TV

As for the Spartans, are they going to move BBall to Jackson this year?  Change the green and white to orange?  Add the Cochrane Group to the staff?

OK I apologize for the latter, though I doubt Giraldo would hold back.  Yes, people mess up and deserve forgiveness.  We need not root for the fall of others.  But, the institutional response from East Lansing seems consistently lame.

Okay so he was "suspended indefinitely"... uh, I guess he didn't do anything to warrant getting kicked off the team then.  But it's okay, that makes Dantonio a great man, because he's clearly giving him a second chance.

as a source for their humor. Some are able to use comedy as a catharsis, while others are consumed by their pain. So much so that they kill themselves intentionally or through irresponsible behavior.

Greg is sad. Sims is a guy who made some bad choices and plays for a team I could care less about. What is sad in his case is that he is ripping off Detroit Public Schools which is in dire need of any help/aid it can get during this terrible local economic downturn. Because of that, I actually feel he is really a prick for stealing from the schools.

of the spartan fans that read this site... what do you think should happen with sims??? do you think that dantonio should start take the stance of one major fuck up and your done with the players??? this is the 3rd year in a row now that a player or players from state has gotten into serious trouble and all the school is doing is indefinite suspensions... people always poked fun at schools like miami and FSU and now florida for having nothing but thugs and criminals on their teams and state is getting close to step over that line to join them...

We were wondering why Sims hadn't played, but then this came out, and it all made sense. Many Spartans were upset when Winston was let back on the team.  That, obviously, was a huge mistake Dantonio will pay for the rest of his coaching career.  Sims--this wasn't a one time mistake.  I think for the benefit of the program, State should cut its losses.  We've had enough bad press.

But, please, don't run off to the moral high-ground.  Every program has had its issues.  Our biggest, the Rather Hall incident, was a huge embarrssment, but at the end of the day it was a dorm fight with a bunch of idiots (the players).  The Winston issue was much bigger, and should have been dealt with much more harshly.

But, again, every program has its issues, 'ce nest pas?

correct every program does have its issues... there is a list some where on this site of all of the players who got into trouble during the carr years and i'm sure everyone know about every player who has gotten into trouble since RR got here... but the point of my question is, that it seems like sparty fans don't care about whats going on... and the messiah of spartan football that works for a certain radio station, has said on the air that he doesn't care to a point as long as it gets state to a rose bowl before his dad dies... but i'm glad to know that there are spartan fans that do care and don't like how dantonio is handling things with the players that get into serious trouble...
