If it was 49 years ago, and we get him from 49ers.

For 49 mill.

And this thread will probably end up with at least 49 "IT'S HAPPENING" references.

I bet Jim now regrets not taking the 76ers job.

Coincidental. But yes, that would have been awesome. Regardless, Come Home, Jim!

That would not be ironic. It would be fitting.

Now Balas has jumped on board to the 99.999% 'it's done' crowd. He has been maintaining a cautious 50/50 mark for awhile. I am catatonic right now.

I ate 49 French fries with my hamburger last night....this is getting crazy

has probably had to use the pooper-scooper at least 4 times already today, Muttley...

Poor damn Dick Dastardly.
December 27th, 2014 at 12:24 PM ^
It's no coincidence that a 4 can look like a 9 if written by someone with sloppy handwriting

This is absolutely awesome. I can't really believe this is happening. Hopefully Harbaugh creates many like himself, and leaves us a couple more from the Bo lineage to continue Michigan success.

Nice! And the day before that on December 26, 1968, the greatest band to ever walk the earth played their first show in the USA for $5. Hail to the Victors and Hail to Zeppelin.

I'm quite ready to bring an end to our ND-esque Journey Through The Wilderness. Time to resume our tradition of excellence. Long live Coach Harbaugh! Huzzah! Huzzah! (But fingers crossed just in case - no jinxies)

And had Canham waited about a week after Dec. 27, 1968, we may very well have had Paterno and his "charitable" defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky leading our players on to the field at the big house.
Still pretty amazed how close we dodged that bullet.

Jimmy is the closest thing to him!
December 27th, 2014 at 12:37 PM ^
Literally. With Carr retired and Jon Falk and Frank Beckmann retiring last year, the only thing left from the Schembechler era is Carl Grapetine saying, "Baaaaaand, take the field!".

I'll be honest - I didn't even realize this was the anniversary of Bo's hiring, but hopefully a similar exchange is happening out in California right now. What a symbolic day in Michigan history indeed, if the arrangements are being worked out right now. Of course, the headline the next day in 1968 was "Bo Who?" as I recall, but the headline for this - if we're right - would have to be, well, "It's Happening!"

I'm going to party like it's 1969.
