This Day in Crystal Ballz - DL Edition
Some interesting things going down in 247's crystal ballz today, all related to the DL.
- DT Jordan Elliott - who Steve Lorenz indicated is one of the top 3 guys UM wants for the DL class - had both Ace and Lorenz crystall ball to UM today. He will be on campus this weekend. Buzz building on him.
- DT Chris Daniels - who is also a UM target - suddenly has a OU crystal ball to Oklahoma from Lorenz.
- DT/DE Mr. Gary - who visited Ole Mi$$ this weekend just got a crystal ball projection from David Johnson to UM. Who is David Johnson? 247's Ole Mi$$ writer.
Tea leaves - Gary "It's happening... even Ole Mi$$ money won't sway you to the SEC...". Chris Daniels - we only have room for so many DT spots and Jordan Elliott is headed our way. Thank you for your interest.
As the infamous 'Sheed Wallace said "(crystall) Ballz don't lie". Esp if they are Ace, Lorenz, and Wiltfong ballz.
(Disclosure: If everything above is correct I take credit; if it's all wrong, it is Mr. Yost's fault.)

He's a USC commit from Florida.
He has officiallly visited only 2 schools - USC and Michigan.
He's returning to Michigan on an unofficial visit for The Game. He has genuine interest.
Ace put in Michigan Crystal Ball on November 5th.
We lead for Rashan Gary, Jordan Elliott, and Keyshon Camp.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
Lorenz says the 3 DL UM wants are Gary, Camp, Elliott.
As you said paying his own way to come to Michigan for The Game (tm) is a great sign there too. Jones is a HS teammate as well and apparently has been talking UM up to him.

alter ego?
November 25th, 2015 at 10:08 AM ^
I would not be surprised to see Camp flip. USC is playing UCLA for a spot against Stanford in the PAC Championship game...except Jim Mora's squad is going to be facing their 4th USC coach in 4 years. I would be surprised if USC wins this game...a 4th loss to UCLA in a row will be good news for Michigan on the recruiting trail.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:30 PM ^
I don't know much about Camp. is he a pure DT or a end?
November 24th, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
Paywalled but yeah, I know why the Ole Miss guy put that crystal ball in.
Altercation went down on his visit at Ole Miss.....

It's on some Ole Miss boards. Just Google "Rashan Gary Ole Miss altercation".... his mother was kicked-out of pregame ritual walk for not having credentials... which she was taken there too late to get... and a rent-a-cop thought it was his time to shine.... or so the story goes.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:07 PM ^
Dig their fans on SEC Rant: "nothing a bag of cash can't fix. In all seriousness though, he's not coming here"
November 25th, 2015 at 8:25 AM ^
But other than that how did you enjoy the game Mrs. Gary?

Gary's mom had an altercation with a security guard because she did not have her credentials. The guard was overly aggressive and publically shamed her. The staff appologized and Gary's mother played it off but I would guess she was secretly POed.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:25 PM ^
Oh snap.
With Auburn's lame presentation to mom and now this, UM's classy and comprehensive presentations and treatment can only stand out even more.
DONT PISS OFF MAMA!
November 24th, 2015 at 8:27 PM ^
Lol.... I had already forgotten about the Auburn PowerPoint or whatever it was.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:11 PM ^
It was just some lame presentation or video about "a day in the life of an Auburn football player". Mom's response: Is this all? I expected more...
Then they attempted to extract their heads from their own asses and called in some professors on the fly to talk to her.

Know you customer.
November 24th, 2015 at 10:35 PM ^
Seriously.
It's almost as if when they can't just buy their recruits, they have no idea what to do. So they just stammer around saying, um, maybe we could show him a powerpoint?
November 25th, 2015 at 6:57 AM ^
Clearly, Auburn rarely recruits players who care about academics.

I never said I was right about anything. Merely posted an article I saw when looking for what happend. Okay? Cool guy?
November 24th, 2015 at 10:59 PM ^
Or you know, that article could be wrong. Let's just wait and see what happens.

My favorite part of that link, in the comments:
"How is there anything in Mississippi that requires credentials?"

But how was the food? It's all about the food.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:18 PM ^
it is the deep south, so I'm guessing it was salty yet flavorless, loved by the locals, tolerated by out-of-towners, and nap-inducing
November 24th, 2015 at 8:46 PM ^
Yep, this was it.
No cliffhanger intended, I just was lobbing up they alley oop for someone else as I don't want to completely post premium content as it's just bad taste.

Between reading this.... seeing the photo of Harbaugh at Bo's grave... and double-checking for the billionth time that The Game is set to record on my DVR... I'm soooo extremely jacked up right now. Sucks it's only Tuesday.
November 24th, 2015 at 8:20 PM ^
Well done. Gary is likely. Elliott is in and the staff thinks they have a better chance at Camp over Daniels. Daniels is just coming off of his OU visit and all indications are that he loved it.

This is the foundation for a NC
November 24th, 2015 at 10:27 PM ^
Harbaugh is showing this year that Hoke actually recruited the foundation for a NC - he just couldn't develop anyone to save his life. I wonder what this roster would've looked like with 1 or 2 more years of HARBAUGH

Elliott scouting report
http://sonofacoach.com/jordan-elliott/
Athletic ability/measurables
Elliott is a very good athlete for a big man and moves really well laterally. He has elite size and strength with great length to go with it. He still has a lot of development to do physically and could probably easily get to the 315 range and and maintain his athleticism.
Skills/technique
Elliott played mostly on the edge for his high school team as a junior. It showcased his athleticism and with him keeping contain versus more athletic players. It also made him a little bit more passive and didn’t force him to always have a consistent punch. He flashes violence and strength, but doesn’t always bring his hands. The tools are there for him to shock offensive linemen with his hands.
His stance isn’t great and needs to be fixed. It a big reason why he will get too high and expose his chest too often. Once he gets that changed, it should make a big difference.
He flashes a great first step. Like most young guys it’s about him doing it every snap. When he gets off the football low and explosive, he is dominant at the point of attack and can penetrate through the line of scrimmage.
When he doesn’t have a great first step, he has a habit of standing up and then jumping around blocks rather than fighting through them. That’s something he’ll have to get away from at the college level.
Elliott has great potential as a pass rusher. His flexibility and the explosive lateral movement he flashes is what is truly impressive. He isn’t developed with his hands and must avoid the long swim move he uses, but his length is going to be a huge asset for him.
Jamie Uyeyama was a way too small defensive tackle at Idaho State University and a more appropriately sized rush end at Simon Fraser University. He was a coach at the college and high school level and is the son of Ron Uyeyama, a member of the Delta Sports Hall of Fame and high school football coach for over 30 years (hence the site name, Son of a Coach)

Nice detective work, alum. With Johnson and Weaver, this would be a hell of a DL haul,if it comes to pass.
November 24th, 2015 at 9:28 PM ^
Gary, Elliot, and Camp. Yes, please. Add them to Kemp and we'd be seriously in business. Wow! I want to believe.
