North Carolina and Kansas are hanging around 20% for effective field goal percentage right now. Further, it was interesting to see North Carolina simply go into Sleep Mode after having the momentum out of the gate. That being said, both teams are on track for some prolific rebound totals, given all the bad shots and attempted putbacks.

Day 4 (Round of 32) NCAA Morning/Afternoon Thread
McAdoo With his face.
Kansas has insane difficulties scoring right at the rim.
As a board, I hope we aren't expecting EITHER team to shoot this bad next week.
I'm not saying it won't happen, but we certainly can't expect it. Let's be real, both of these teams have played better this year.
That said, good GAWD this is bad. Let's HOPE the winner plays this bad vs. Michigan.
Neither team will shoot this bad against us. Teams rarely shoot bad against us. Might be our defense, might be our caliber.
It won't happen.
Susceptible to getting all discombobulated when you push it. I'm not seeing much discipline here. Who is going to stop Trey? From the looks of things, maybe we could push them into a slopfest (on their part). I'm also liking GRIII's chances to shine in a game like that.
I'm loving the thoughts of McGary going crazy against UNC's small lineup... especially with how he runs.
Also, star players are playing terrible in this game.
Withey - 1/5
McLemore - 0/5
McAdoo - 2/9
...except that I don't have to watch the same commercials OVER and OVER and OVER!
But CBS's spacing has been all over the place.
I never want to see that Bud Light blind date commercial again. It further annoys me that all the actresses they got as her friends are better looking than her and they get 2 seconds screen time.
Yesterday at the same time, that NCAA band following you commercial was on CBS, TNT and TruTV.
That, the Bud Light Commercial, the Liberty Financial with the hoop in the driveway falling on the car, etc.
You'd think with all of the viewers they'd mix it up. The commercials should be almost be anticipated like the Super Bowl.
Heh. That's usually how you can tell if a man or a woman was in charge of the commercial.
NICKY FLASH!!
Minnesota/Florida on TNT...tied 10-10 with 15:00 left.
I would rather have North Carolina due to the smaller lineup. Either team is a challenge but definitely not insurmountable. At least somebody got to 30 going into the half.
He looks way too much like Christian Laettner.
...but now that you've compared him to Laettner, I have no choice but to HATE HIS GUTS! GO HEELS!
...I don't think you know what you've just done.
I don't hate any single athlete in the history of sport as much as I hate Laettner. Not Reddick, not Pryor or Gholston, no one.
Now because of this resemblance, I have no choice.
Minnesota is going zone vs. Florida and they're killing them early.
Meanwhile, UF is going with a full court zone press. Not something we want to see if we want to run.
Florida looks good early against Minnesota.
I know this is kind of late to comment about the IU game but Oladipo did not guard Wyatt as much as you are all making it sound. He killed Sheehey and Remy. And if nothing else Wyatt killed his team down the stretch. He whined more than anyone on the court and was uninterested on offense if he didnt have the ball in his hands. And I have never seen someone flop more than Wyatt.
Did Ernie Johnson's cancer come back recently? He doesn't look too good.
Also I'm pretty surprised by the finalists for the Naismith Award. I don't see any of those 3 winning it over Burke besides maybe Oladipo, if Trey hadn't already beaten him for Big10 player of the year.
???
Burke, McDermott, Oladipo and the guy from Georgetown
I'm not sure there is anyone else that should've been on the list...the only other player I'd consider is the kid from Gonzaga.
This just wasn't a star driven year...Do I think Burke should win it? Yes. But those are "solid" players, none are nationally legendary.
I think Oladipo would've won it if he would've won the B1G POY, but Burke did and I think he takes that national POY as well.
I realize it is no surprise at this point, but Minnesota really doesn't have much of an offensive identity. They all seem really athletic, but their best strategy seems to be attempt shots and play for the offensive rebound.
Minny not fouling nearly as much as the refs think. That, or I've watched too much B1G BB this year and don't know what a foul is anymore.
Dude holding the ambient mic in Austin needs to step away from loudmouth B #1. Sick of her screaming.
Fla 10-13 vs Minny zone,FINALLY calls time out and i assume change to man-2-man
GET OUT OF THIS ZONE!!
Can UNC weather this storm?
O my god Kansas has an A/T ratio of 2/15. That is truly remakable.
That I'm bad luck today. I started watching both the OSU and IU games near the end today prepared to gleefully watch them lose, and they pull off late wins. Now I switch on UNC-KU rooting for the Tarheels, and they're starting to fall apart. I want to watch Minnesota, but not sure if that's a good idea.
Minn is down by 19 so I'm not sure if it could get worse.
Typical Minnesota. Play great one game and play like absolute garbage the next. Such is the Minnesota way.
Because Florida is beatable...and if they would be the Gators, the next game is easier.
Holy crap Florida. That's a potential Final Four team right there.
I agree they're a good team, but beating a Minnesota team that only seems to play hard once a month isn't necessarily evidence of it.
mother of monkeys florida loves to blow teams out
...No middle ground with the Gators.
Whew this is ugly!
i think we're going to be sorry that morgan was effectively benched for the last two games
UNC is literally the most inconsistent team in the country...
In the end, it'll be about if they can rally back around the 6-7 minute mark.
The only consistent thing about them has been their inability to beat great/ v good teams.
I don't wanna play Kansas at all.
Yeah they've looked very good in the last 5 minutes
...looks like a 30 year old man.
with a 50 year old's hairline
...double wide LeBron James headband can't take care of.
Kansas at their best >>> any other team at their best......but Kansas coasts for long periods of time.
Could also say that UNC at their worst is worse than any other team at their average. Take a gander at UNC's field goal percentage. Once Kansas started hitting, UNC started panicking and turning the ball over, and it got out of hand.
and i know what you did you hurt this program squeaked by to live another day.
Welp. At least there's walking dead
"Kansas has finally figured out how to attack a smaller, quicker defense" -- uh-oh.
This smaller, quicker defense."
Yeah, I didn't want to hear that.
Now 45-12.
will someone promise to kill me?
Tubby suuuuuuuuucks.
These games are over.
FGCU time?
Kansas is still not a great team - they have quite a few issues. Any team can get into a positive feedback loop and dominate a game against an equal or lesser team (see Michigan - VCU). The reason they have had as much success this year as they have is largely due to Bill Self (who is one of my favorite coaches). I would have preferred our opponent to be UNC, but since it is likely to be Kansas our best bet is to get a couple of early fouls on Withey. We need to go at him early with our bigs and also try to get a couple of 50-50 block charge calls even if that means picking up a few fouls ourselves.
I don't think Roy Williams will be reusing this particular halftime speech again.
Needed more "dadgums."
At least they're making it competitive and showing that Florida is not invincible.
Eric Riley. Remember him? Upper class big man who lost his starting spot to a freshman, but when said freshman got into foul trouble in our Sweet 16 game against a Big 12 mountain man (big country Reeves of Oklahoma State), Riley came off the bench and helped save us.
What I'm saying is, we need Jordan Morgan to step up. Forget the IU tap back big fella. We will need you and you are still a huge part of this team. Go Blue!
Do this? I go away and it's suddenly competitive again. Good to see. What will Sir Charles do if the Gophers get this and reach the Sweet 16?
Matchup than I was during the first half. But I still like our chances. Mitch's rebounding and high energy will be critical to us. As will a great game from Burke pushing Kansas to mistakes. I'd be less confident if I thought Kansas had a stopper who could work Trey over, but I just don't see that. His ability to penetrate can do a lot to mitigate their bigs - get them out of position so GRIII and others can do their thing.
